Another great find are the many liquor stores here that offer very cheap bottles of your familiar liquor! All, up and down the main strip your going to find a wide array of merchants selling everything from authentic Mexican textiles, shoes, boots, Mexican candy stores, clothes, Mexican pottery, jewlery, souvenirs, curiosities, fine leather products such as purses, etc and so much MORE. Servises such as spas and cosmologist salons are a big thing here as well. Don't forget THE FOOD! You'll find many restaurants serving authentic Mexican food and seafood at a fraction of the price of what you would have paid for it right across the border! One of our favorite features of shopping in Nuevo Progresso is the many, many bars that are in every other store serving up delicious margaritas and your favorite beers and cocktails. They are not far away from each other at all but it's like day and night. This one looks a lot older and somewhat run down as well. I even saw blood on the toilet seat one time. Pretty much stop using public restroom at the supermarkets from there on. Their grocery section is not as fresh as the other location either. I haven't bought meat in a while so can't really tell you how the meat section is. But bottom line is, don't come here, go to the other one down the street!
