This spot has BOMBA breakfast tacos. Try the Ham, Cheese, and Egg you won't be sorry. They close @ 12 on Weekdays, so they'll sell you beer until they close. I think they sell Cell Phones, and accessories. read more

You can't really drive through to get a michelada with beer inside... but you can drive through to get a Clamato Preparado with a beer ON the side. So I bought one of those suckers ($8?) and was about to drive off when something caught my eye. Smirnoff Preparada. What the heck? Turns out an SP is a 20 oz smirnoff icce, with gummy bears, chamoy and chile inside the beverage. Then on TOP of the beverage, more gummy bears, chamoy and chile. Obviously I had to get one. It tasted like sh... nothing good but the gummy bear chamoy concoction on top was delicious. All of these things are an acquired taste of course so feel free to experience this madness on your own.

Does this place have good food... possibly? Good luck trying to find out which one it is…read more This place has all the old hits for Mexican home food, whether it's from breakfast tacos, to lunch guisos...they also have barbacoa, carnitas, etc. my experience has always been that when you have so much... quality lacks. First off...when you walk in, it's somewhat confusing. The building feels old...I'm not sure what it was before, maybe an adult day care? They have these old school cafeteria tables that are bolted into the ground. So do you sit down and order with a waitress? There's a counter on the right side...do they seat you? And then there's the huge line where you actually choose your guises or plate you want. One HUGE pet peeve of mine with establishments is when they don't post a price. On the wall, they have all the plates you can choose from...with no price. Why? Are we doing a guessing game? Can you imagine going to a place like McDonalds...and they have no prices next to their burgers? Why? So you take a guess on the price on what you want to order....the food "looks" good. But they give it to you on these old school cafeteria plates. Come on guys...do some investments on new cutlery and plates. If you are dining in, after them giving you your plate, you seat yourself and then a waitress comes by and asks you what you want to drink. It feels like chaos in there. On top of everything...they have a counter to the back where you can order barbacoa, chicharrones, or carnitas by the pound...but it's a mess because those customers blend in with everyone else. Is the place humming? Definitely. I had the carne guisada plate... honestly I think eating it out of that 1980s plate took away half the flavor. The carne guisada was decent. I would actually recommend the El Tigre carne guisada plate for only $7.50 over this $12 plate. Is there something of quality in that place... possibly. But I'm not going to play Where's Waldo in trying to find it.

The meat by the pound (barbacoa, carnitas, chicarron prensado original, mollejas, and tripitas) are the best in the RGV. Convenient drive thru, but it will get busy on the weekends. I mostly go to the "Y" Drive In to fill up our propane tank. There are fewer places since the pandemic where you can take your own tank to refill. The folks at "Y" Drive In always are friendly, positive, and helpful. Just go pay for the amount you need, and then show the receipt to the friendly attendant, and they will take care of it. It's great to find a place that has both a good product and excellent customer service. That's the difference between a chain store and one that is locally owed and operated. No whining at the "Y"! Of course, there is the supermarket and a café (which sells pizza), but today's review is limited to my experience with the tacos. I chose tacos of carne guisada. I was offered a choice of flour or corn tortillas. I prefer corn, but the tortillas are smaller than the flour ones. So I ordered three tacos. It turns out, since the corn tortillas are smaller (and the same price as flour) they compensate by using two corn tortillas side by side as one taco. I wish I had known that, because two would have been more than enough. They wrap the tacos individually in foil, and offer the salsa of your choice added in small plastic lidded cups. As they assemble the tacos, they drain the broth from the guiso. I'm guessing the broth is where most of the flavor is, as the meat, while very tender, did not have much flavor. Thank God for the salsa which made up for that. I enjoyed the tacos, but three was too much for me. I also had some delicious fresh squeeze limeade (limonada). Next time I will probably get the plate, because the tortillas got soggy fast as tacos. Overall I enjoyed it and think you will too. Their prices are reasonable, and the service was friendly.
