I was raised in Jalisco, so that's where I went. It takes courage to open a new and smaller business next door to a larger competitor! If the larger competitor is the one who opened a new location next door to the smaller mom and pop shop, then it could be considered bullying. Either way, I chose Taqueria Jalisco. The ambience is clean, pleasant, and bright, good even for families and small groups. I was surprised to discover they have table service. The salsas were mild but tasty. The chips were thin American corn chip style. The charro beans were excellent, with great flavor. I appreciated the fact the beans did not have large chunks of pig skin /fat floating in them like many other places in town. These were delicious. I chose a Sprite and ordered the tacos de bistec, and added avocado and cheese at an additional cost. My meal was served promptly and it both looked and tasted great, a bit salty, but I like that. The staff and owner were present, helpful and friendly, despite the fact I was there late and the last customer after a long day.
