Jerusalem Mediterranean Bistro faces Trenton Road in a small shopping center at the intersection with Sugar Road. It's flanked by other stores and because it's not large it's easy to miss. As I walked inside I was intrigued by the calm ambience and the soft Middle Eastern music playing in the background. The window had a beautiful display of various sets of tea and coffee pots and cups, dates, nuts, as well as other items. I walked down the wall on the right which is lined with shelves containing all kinds of Middle Eastern foods for sale: canned, dry foods, spices, and even a freezer in the back with frozen foods, most of which I won't try to spell. Only one I remember well enough and that is the frozen falafel ready to heat up and enjoy at home. The owner / operator welcomed me, and even gave me a free sample of hot tea as he explained that all their ingredients are authentic and imported from the Middle East. As I waited for a friend who was to join me I viewed the menu and saw they offer gyros, falafel, shawarma, sandwiches, soups, kabobs, salads, and plates of lamb, beef, chicken and more. They have Vegan or vegetarian options as well with entrees like lentil soup, hummus, salads, etc. For drinks they have imported drinks, teas, juices, carbonated and non-carbonated, mineral waters, fresh water, and beers. You can get tacos and a soft drink anywhere. Here, you can get authentic Mediterranean cuisine and an imported drink unlike anything you've had before. I got the gyro, the lentil soup, and a Freez carbonated fruit drink. They were all delicious. The fries that came with the gyro was so good and well seasoned I didn't need Ketchup. The Tzatziki sauce on the gyro was amazing. The lentil soup was also delicious and satisfying like a comfort food. Prices are very reasonable - especially considering much is imported. The service was excellent and friendly. This is a great place for a business lunch or a place to meet uo with friends or family. My friend and I really enjoyed our meal and want to return. Do yourself a favor and try them out!

The baba ghanouj had just the right amount of spice. Warm, balanced, and incredibly flavorful. The tabbouleh was so fresh and refreshing that I'm already trying to figure out how to recreate it at home. The chicken was perfectly seasoned, exactly how I like it: packed with flavor. The hummus was simply divine. The best hummus I've ever had. Paired with the soft, fresh pita, every bite was perfect. The garlic sauce instantly brought me back to my childhood. Some flavors have a way of unlocking memories, and this was one of them. And the tea was the perfect ending. It was exactly how I love my tea: soothing, aromatic, and just the right amount of sweetness. Thank you so much for such an incredible meal. It's been my "Go-To" spot for years now, as El Pato is just a few yards away and gets extremely packed at lunch and honestly their tacos are smaller and not consistent. But still go to. El Pato out of necessity when Il just going to drive through and can't stop. The food here at La Morenita Bakery has a more homemade authentic "casera" flavor to me, and they do not skimp or cheat you out of your hard earned dollars here. The seating chairs are iron patio furniture, so not extremely comfy however it's not agonizing and worth the 15-30 minutes you'll spend their, besides if you go solo as I do, there is a little bar with stools up against the entrance wall that is very cozy and private. They have these old school cafeteria tables that are bolted into the ground. So do you sit down and order with a waitress? There's a counter on the right side...do they seat you? And then there's the huge line where you actually choose your guises or plate you want. One HUGE pet peeve of mine with establishments is when they don't post a price. On the wall, they have all the plates you can choose from...with no price. Why? Are we doing a guessing game? Can you imagine going to a place like McDonalds...and they have no prices next to their burgers? Why? So you take a guess on the price on what you want to order....the food "looks" good. But they give it to you on these old school cafeteria plates. Come on guys...do some investments on new cutlery and plates. Then the baked potato was way too over cooked. The spud was very tough and dry when it's supposed to be soft and fluffy. Then the flautas had no flavor and honestly tasted like they were prepped and fried before hand and then double fried to heat up. Not to mention there was nobody when we arrived to pick up the order so definitely not busy, just lack of quality.
