Does this place have good food... possibly? Good luck trying to find out which one it is. This place has all the old hits for Mexican home food, whether it's from breakfast tacos, to lunch guisos...they also have barbacoa, carnitas, etc. my experience has always been that when you have so much... quality lacks. First off...when you walk in, it's somewhat confusing. The building feels old...I'm not sure what it was before, maybe an adult day care? They have these old school cafeteria tables that are bolted into the ground. So do you sit down and order with a waitress? There's a counter on the right side...do they seat you? And then there's the huge line where you actually choose your guises or plate you want. One HUGE pet peeve of mine with establishments is when they don't post a price. On the wall, they have all the plates you can choose from...with no price. Why? Are we doing a guessing game? Can you imagine going to a place like McDonalds...and they have no prices next to their burgers? Why? So you take a guess on the price on what you want to order....the food "looks" good. But they give it to you on these old school cafeteria plates. Come on guys...do some investments on new cutlery and plates. If you are dining in, after them giving you your plate, you seat yourself and then a waitress comes by and asks you what you want to drink. It feels like chaos in there. On top of everything...they have a counter to the back where you can order barbacoa, chicharrones, or carnitas by the pound...but it's a mess because those customers blend in with everyone else. Is the place humming? Definitely. I had the carne guisada plate... honestly I think eating it out of that 1980s plate took away half the flavor. The carne guisada was decent. I would actually recommend the El Tigre carne guisada plate for only $7.50 over this $12 plate. Is there something of quality in that place... possibly. But I'm not going to play Where's Waldo in trying to find it. read more

Authentic Mexican food. All the plates are amazing, but my favorite is the chiles rellenos on fridays. The meat by the pound (barbacoa, carnitas, chicarron prensado original, mollejas, and tripitas) are the best in the RGV. Convenient drive thru, but it will get busy on the weekends. You can call in your order before arriving, but payment over the phone is required. It has changed from what once was a grocery store to what is now RVG Tacos Del Guero. read more

If you are looking for a quiet place to have breakfast this is probably not where you want to go. These are some amazing Mexican tacos though. Really worth it. You come up to a counter and order you food. Then go to the fridges and pick out your drink. Sit down. Then your "waitress" will out your bill on the table and you pay when you are done. Do not expect frills. There is some chaos here. But it is as authentic as it gets and it is delicious. It is really helpful if you speak Spanish. If not just you can mostly point and you can get the job done. Parking can also be a pain. But I gave five starts anyway just because it can be hard to find food this authentic and good. I had Barbacoa and chicharrón tacos. My wife had some potato and chorizo tacos too. All delicious. If this isn't your cup of tea it won't be because of the food. read more

It costs 1 dollar for 4 minutes and if you don't know anything about air pressures, there are directions on the air pump and it gives you signals with an audio cue. I knew enough of to find the tire pressure needed on the tire itself. I set the machine to 51 PSI for my Mini Cooper tires. The machine shows the pressure increase as you pump or decrease if your moving the nozzle in a way that's causing air to leave the tire. When it reaches target, it beeps to notify you. Inside, the stripes has aged and it is noticeable. I used to buy breakfast tacos there, but they've gotten soggy over the years. Also, the amount of protein they add into the tacos has decreased. Its extremely busy in the morning and also busy for lunch meals. I suggest you find another place for quick meals in the surrounding area. However, if you need air in your tires, this is the place to go.

Stripes is convenience store where some of its locations have the Laredo Taco Company is located. Amusingly entertained by my co-worker's statement, I went to a Stripes in my area and decided to seel out the "Q Taco", unfortunately I did not see it in the menu so I instead went for a ham and cheese taco and gran tocino taco. Again, I'm not an expert on what makes a good taco, but I can tell you they were tasty and make for a fast greasy breakfast on the go.

Of course, there is the supermarket and a café (which sells pizza), but today's review is limited to my experience with the tacos. I chose tacos of carne guisada. I was offered a choice of flour or corn tortillas. I prefer corn, but the tortillas are smaller than the flour ones. So I ordered three tacos. It turns out, since the corn tortillas are smaller (and the same price as flour) they compensate by using two corn tortillas side by side as one taco. I wish I had known that, because two would have been more than enough. They wrap the tacos individually in foil, and offer the salsa of your choice added in small plastic lidded cups. As they assemble the tacos, they drain the broth from the guiso. I'm guessing the broth is where most of the flavor is, as the meat, while very tender, did not have much flavor. Thank God for the salsa which made up for that. I enjoyed the tacos, but three was too much for me. I also had some delicious fresh squeeze limeade (limonada). Next time I will probably get the plate, because the tortillas got soggy fast as tacos. Overall I enjoyed it and think you will too. Their prices are reasonable, and the service was friendly.
