We requested a bid for repairs to two rooms. They sent a water mitigation contractor which was not needed as that had already been handled.
They then sent another technician who was supposed to handle a bid for the repairs needed. I asked if they needed to send another contractor after this one, they stated they did not.
After even MORE time, they stated that they needed to send another contractor to get a bid. Particularly, a specialist for repairs that we did not need.
After being grilled for information that the company itself should possess (who was the previous manager I spoke with, for instance) I asked for a bid AGAIN.
Then the excuses started: They could not locate the two contractors' records, they needed to know who the last manager I spoke with was (because somehow they don't even have this in their own records), and they could not complete the work for the indeterminate future.
Why not tell us any of this weeks before?
Because they probably have more work than they have contractors to handle them.
So they string clients along and see which ones they actually want to pursue for maximum profit.
And yes, this is one of the behaviors that has been seen multiple times in the past with different contractors:
1. Ignore request for bid
2. Create an outrageously expensive bid
3. String along and make excuses until the client gives up
This is the absolute opposite of good customer service. read more
