I got an insulation person out and he said there was plenty of venting available for a fan. Then a large estimate came and it also said I had to get an Electrical permit. After learning how to get a permit and paying $25.01 for it I send multiple texts to Jamie and waited for a response. I finally had to email him to get a response. The last email he changed his mind! He suggested "I recommend having a mechanical company--whoever did your furnace and AC--take a look to see if they have a better solution" I thought the customer was right when asking for something I've done before that I know works. If he didn't want to do the job, he should have told me a lot sooner! No very happy with this company.

All…read moreCraft Exteriors was working on a neighbors house, so we decided to give them a call to see if they could send someone by to give us an estimate to repair the damage. Chad came by soon after and took at look at the situation, promising to get us an estimate by the next day. (He also noticed some of our gutters needed a couple of extra screws, and he just fixed that for us while he was here. Thanks!) We got the estimate as promised and were surprised that it was not as much as we feared it might be. Chad told us that it might be up to 30 days before they could know what day they could come by to do the work, but they called just a couple of days later and it was completed the following day by Jesse and Jared. They did a great job! (That included retrieving the pieces of the replacement siding we had stored in the rafters of our garage (Jenga-style). We will probably need a window replaced sometime in the next year or two and we already know who we will call. Recommend!

Full siding and window replacement…read more Biggest problem: Bill Vaughn (Salesman) Minor issue(s): Cleanup, language barrier Pros: Work performed From the beginning, Bill was not a pleasant individual to work with. From the original estimate appointment to the ordering itself, he was over an hour late without so much as a phone call. He acted like he did not want to be there, did not explain things well, etc. Ordered windows and siding the first few days of July, with knowledge of it requiring a 6-8 week lead time. Medium-dark blue "Indigo dutchlap in a Triple-6 Craneboard, with white trim." -Bill Time passed without any word, ended up calling Bill the first week of September looking for an update. Said he didn't know and that he'd check. Come to find out the Craneboard siding we ordered had been discontinued weeks prior, if it was even available when we ordered. So we had to order a different color, which was okay we had a backup, but the windows were just getting shipped and should be there the following week. A few days passed, and we receive another call from Bill saying that the second time we had ordered, that siding was also no longer available and that we would have to do something different. By now we were starting to get a little bit frustrated, because we felt like we (as customers) should not have had to be doing the checking. But we said okay, we will do the tear off and be ready for you. So we did all the tear off, and asked Bill (since siding plans had changed) if the house wrap we were going to use to protect the exposed wall was going to interfere with the new insulated house wrap he recommended (since we had to remove the fanfold from the existing wall.) He said it would not, so go ahead and install it. Now it is mid September, and Tate and Shay show up to install the windows. They were very surprised and appreciative of all the hard work of tear-off having already been done (since they were doing full-frame replacements.) After 3 days, they had all the windows in and taped up to the house wrap I had installed. I think they did a fairly good job and I have no complaints about the work they performed. They did end up using a few of my tools (since they didn't have it with them-didn't bring them), and there cleanup job was maybe a 7/10. A week passes, no word on siding. The following day a truck shows up in the yard, no phone call, no alerts. It (the siding) then sits there, fully wrapped, for 2 weeks. I don't know what's there, or even what color or style got ordered. Another week passes. Siding guys show up. Though there was a minor language barrier, they're good guys and they tell me the house wrap needs to come off. Bill confirms even though he said it was OK earlier. They work to install the new insulated housewrap and proceed to put trim and siding on. Now I'm a busy guy and wasn't around for the day while they were working. I came home late and noticed everything was blue; trim included. Called Bill early the next morning and he "forgot" the trim was supposed to be white. So the siding guys proceeded to tear off everything they did the day before. Came back that night and noticed the trim around the windows were still not white. Bill says "Oh, well most everyone has us do it this way. The only accent color is the corners." In my head anything that isn't the main siding piece is trim, including all J-Trim, and after driving around to other houses and looking at their accent colors and trim colors, I stand behind that decision. Bill didn't agree and didn't offer to fix the problem. All we got credit for was the housewrap. And since we didn't feel like interacting with him anymore, I guess the house will remain this way. Bill needs to leave Minnesota's 1st Choice, and based on our experience, there is ZERO chance I'd be recommending them.

The very, very rude representative who answered the phone first told me that to get a replacement part "you need to find your own 'in' to the company (since Pella refuses to take calls)" and when I said that was ridiculous she said "Really, there are more important things to get upset about". I would not use this company and I would not purchase Pella Windows. BTW - the owner just called me after I placed my review to defend his company's treatment of me, and then said "I will have my attorney contact you" I see this company has poor ratings - go elsewhere.

I needed to have a wall repaired with plaster and painting. A technician arrived and examined the…read moreissue. A bid was then sent and accepted. (Fortunately, this time the company did not give us an outrageously overpriced bid as they had for some past projects.) The company then called me and stated that a different technician would be arriving to begin working before the office opened and would not schedule it to start during our office hours. Accordingly, I arrived to work before our office opened to let him in. And upon returning over three hours later I could see no work had been done at all. I contacted the company and asked where their technician was. They informed me that he was off completing other projects. Why did you insist I come into work before office hours to let in someone who did not actually do any work until over three hours later? This same technician would leave and return several times, meaning I had to let him back into the building and apartment repeatedly. Did the first technician getting the bid forget to communicate what was needed? On day three of the project, the technician contacts me and informs me he is done for the day. Then about an hour later, he states he needs to return to work on it further. At this time, I am at a meeting and cannot return. I inform the argumentative technician of this fact and that I would contact him when I was done, about an hour and a half from them at a guess. At the hour and a half mark, the technician begins calling my phone over and over while the meeting is wrapping up. I am finally able to answer and the technician is insistent that I return immediately to let him return to work (after he said he was done for the day earlier). The aftermath was that the wall was not made completely smooth, but at least it was painted. I sent the company a survey asking for someone to contact me as I did not want their services again. This would have been a golden opportunity for any business who cared about the client to reach out and see what could be done to repair the mess that they made. But I got not reply. It appears that our business is not large enough or pays enough to warrant their concern. We hired them for a few projects prior. And they have consistency issues with their work quality and pricing variances. If you hire them, you are taking a risk that the work will not be done properly and/or that they will treat you with disrespect.
