The grounds are beautiful with plenty of areas to relax and picnic. There were lots of people out enjoying the good weather but it never felt crowded. It's a little confusing trying to figure out what things require a ticket/paid admission. On the map they provide, there's no indication that a ticket is needed for the mansion, but one is in fact required. However you have to buy a ticket at the Stone Barn by the entrance. You can try buying on the website but I didn't have great signal. Instead I backtracked to the Stone Barn to get a ticket but the prices were higher than what I was told at the Mansion and they appeared to be limited to timed entry and all the time slots were sold out. Long story short, I didn't see the inside of the mansion, but still spent a good couple hours exploring the outdoor areas. Which was all free so I count that as a win.

You will definitely find products your can't find at your local grocery store. The variety of canned Fancy Feast, kitty treats and other cat foods is without parallel. Cat supplies, cat toys, litter choices, grooming tools, and pets beds/climbing/scratching posts are plentiful. I also purchase my kitties' flea meds here! Feline heaven! I also love feeding the wild birds and they stock lots of seed and feeders for your fine feathered friends! And if you have pet birds, you'll be happy with aisles full of finch, parakeet, canary, cockatoo and parrot (and other bird) items! The dog section is huge for you puppy parents... check it out! And the aquariums full of fish are cool as well. Don't forget the little hamsters and other little furry creatures... as far as pet stores go, this one is pretty clean. The vivacious cashier, Vegas, is always pleasant and helpful. I have their PetSmart savings card which saves me a few bucks. Lots of parking. My only "pet peeve" is that it needs to put in a cart return, have cleaner carts and a sanitizing system.

Let me start by saying, BELIEVE the reviews for this place, I should have…read more I made an emergency appointment for my Cockatiel, they saw me same day, which is the only plus I have for this place. From the moment I walked in, the energy in the clinic was tense. The receptionist ignored me, while being in what sound like an 'argument' with someone in the back of the clinic and yelling at the girl to "mind your business, Mary". I went inside at 3:45 for my 4pm appointment and did not get placed into a room until 4:30pm. (all totally fine, I understand being busy, but this was anything but that since staff was arguing). There was someone there from the city doing some form of 'inspection' regarding the business licensing, to which the front staff and some of the back staff were rude and unprofessional with. The assistant chastised me for my birds' wings being clipped (breeder done btw - not by me). I was also accused of neglecting and starving my bird due to his appearance (which is why I was at the emergency vet in the first place - due to rapid weight loss, and lethargy). After just getting this bird on June 7th (my appt was Jun. 18), I felt absolutely judged and criticized for my bird being sick when I just purchased him and clearly, he was sick from the breeder. I was trying to be a responsible owner. Also, the cost of the care of this clinic was outrageous. They charged me $70 for an assisted feeding. (I took him to a different clinic on Friday that charged $26 for an assisted feeding.) I left there feeling so defeated and like the care given was just a shot in the dark. I scheduled a different appt with another clinic on Friday (who was absolutely fabulous), because I did not trust the care given at Lakeside. All in all, I would not return to this clinic even if it was the last one open in the City of Richmond.
