I came in to get my acrylics removed and got sat fairly quickly. All was going normal (dremeling off my old polish/ part of my nails, cutting them down, then soaking them in acetone). Why she decided to do this on my other hand, I wouldn't know but she started using another acrylic to get under my acrylics that were currently on my nails (if I knew I was going to be charged for this I would've just used some damn floss and home and popped them off my self smh.) ANYWAYS, I thought you weren't supposed to do that because it's damaging to your natural nail and gosh darn are people right. She quite literally starting RIPPING off my actual nail and I told her it hurt and she KEPT TRYING TO DO IT. At the end I asked the owner/manager if that was normal and showed him my RIPPED NAIL and he just goes "there is different ways we take off, you could've said what you preferred and we could've done it that way" (i.e., soaking them off) and then still charged me. No apology, no nothing. I've been here before and never had a problem. I'm not sure if it's a new manager or what but the old owner used to do my nails and was amazing. Happy to report I found my nail guy!! So my previous experience was pretty awful, but my friend convinced me to try Serenity again. I walked in on a Sunday morning and this place was already slammed a few minutes after opening. There are tons of colors to choose from and the atmosphere feels more spa like and clean than many other salons in the area. I sat down right away and Scott helped me. He paid attention to detail, checked in throughout the process to make sure I was happy, and did not rush despite how busy the place was! I got Paris brand dip powder, color 204. And these are tips. Still a regular, I recently had a less than stellar manicure and I spoke to the owner about it who made it right. One thing about this nail salon (and I have been to MANY) is that they have the largest number of technicians who are trained in SNS than I have ever seen. The advantage of that is that they have more availability than many other salons. The disadvantage is that they may have a quality control challenge. Some clients keep a short list of technicians they will exclusively see. I don't- I take what I get. I have had maybe 10 SNS manicures at this salon and I have only had one bad one and that technician is no longer working there (that's a kind of quality control!) read more

The last two times I've had manis/pedis here, my nails were cut so short to begin to bleed on the sides. My large toe nails were cut at a horrible angle with cuticle nippers, resulting in ingrown toenails. I just came to pay $20 to have my SNS removed. I popped in here with a girlfriend on a "mom sanity break" weekend away. We had been out and about and suddenly decided a pedicure would be a wonderful idea. With a quick phone call to determine availability, we were delighted when they told us to come on over! We were staying in downtown Charleston, but had been adventuring nearby the salon area and it looked good on Yelp, so we have it a go. We walked right in and picked our polish colors and were treated as regular welcomed customers even though we were random walk-ins. They had two chairs ready for us, side by side and offered us a beverage after we got situated. We each got a different type of treatment, but mine involved collagen, hot stones and other yummy things as well as a great massage chair. The space was bright and pretty and the restroom was clean. It has been 2.5 weeks since my pedi and there is no chipping or peeling. I really enjoyed the experience and am glad we took time to stop by here. I have gone to serenity nails several times now and feel confident in writing a review. I lived in Long Island and queens for most of my life and have gotten my nails and toes done for as long as I can remember-usually every 2 weeks. When I first moved down here to Charleston (several years ago) it was hard finding a good place....and the difference in price was crazy. About 5 years ago I bought my home on johns island and there was only one place to go..and they weren't my favorite. I was excited to try out serenity. And I loved them. I even recommended them as the nail salon for two friends weddings. They do an amazing job. For the past 10 months I have been consistently going to get the dip and it always looks amazing. They have tons of colors to choose. I'm often a walk in bc I never know when I'll have time to go but they always accommodate. The place is clean and everyone is friendly. After each visit, I tell myself to try and remember the persons name who did it so I can ask for them the next time but everyone does such a great job it doesn't matter! Usually when I head back up to Long Island at xmas and summer I will get my nails done but at Xmas my local salon did a horrible job and I had to go back bc it chipped so quickly. I didn't make the same mistake in the summer. I went to Serenity before traveling bc I knew my nails would look great during my whole vacation- and they did! They lasted for close to 5 weeks- there was a lot of growth but no chips! It's great having a place so close by. read more

My main problem with this place is the new management/owners as of mid 2023 and some questionable business practices they've decided to employ. Like a previous reviewer, I purchased a gift certificate for my SO as a Christmas Gift. She went to use it first two weeks of July and was informed they "aren't accepting gift certificates like that as of July 1, because of new ownership" and that there had been a sign up for an inexact amount of time. Regardless, she hadn't been in since the sign was allegedly put up, and when I went back through their website and social media I found very little information about the business changing hands and nothing about a gift certificate policy. In the end she bit the bullet, got her feet done anyway, and was overcharged from the posted price, again, like another reviewer. In my opinion this is a short sighted business practice. The person(s) who bought the business kept the name, signs, ads, website, and any other media all the same when they bought the business implying they obviously wanted the existing clientele. However, they would rather permanently lose customers in a very competitive industry than take an L here and there on a gift certificate that, in my opinion, they also purchased the debt to when they bought the business. In short, do not do business with these people. I feel like I was stolen from and deceived. 0/5 stars, and I wish you nothing but bad luck. read more

This place is wildly overpriced - and the quality of service isn't even great. The gel manicure was especially sloppy and she seemed in a serious rush - cuticles were poorly cut and the filing was really uneven. I ended up having to use her tools to try and fix it myself. But she still charged a whopping $42, which was ridiculous. read more

As a resident of Johns Island I was so excited I had found a Nail Spa equivalent to what I was used to in New York City. For over a year I made this place a bimonthly routine for my manicure and pedicures. As of Wednesday I will not be going back due to the treatment I endure,I noticed the staff has changed for the worst and they do not treat all people the same, weather it's offering me a cold drink like they do with all the other customers and talking to me in a very disrespect manner. Today I went to Serenity to try it out. Crowne Commons Landing had a few places I wanted to check out so it was convenient, and had some decent reviews. All was going well until he tried to put on my shoes. They were a bit tight to go over the toes without mussing up the polish, however I needed to grocery shop and get home so I wanted my shoes put on. Not a problem, ever, in any other salon. It wasn't a problem here either, as many other customers were doing the same, but he hit a snag with the rubber on the sole, and my foot would not slide in well. He snagged one toe, no problem, I knew he'd fix it. As he moved on to the next foot, I don't know what happened but his frustration was more than he could handle and he ripped my shoe off my right foot, and now he is so mad he rips it off my left foot and he actually slammed them down onto the floor. He had quite a stretch to reach them and 6 toes are now ruined. The shoe removal was a pretty aggressive act. I told him to put the shoes back on, and then fix them and I'd be out of there (obviously, never to return). He also cut very deeply into the sides of the toes, stating that he was correcting an ingrown toenail, but in reality he was cutting the cuticle to a dangerous depth. I'm sorry I went here today. Now I have sore toes and a very lousy polish job that I paid close to $40 for. This was one of those OMG events. read more

Absolutely the last time I go. Was horrible. I had had a bad experience a couple of years ago and had started going to the place across the street. As that has deteriorated, I decided to take a friend of mine and give it one last try. Nail dude was rough and impatient drew blood to two of my fingers and kept yanking my hands and talking in another language to others. Pedi wasn't much better. Conveyer type behavior.m. Just get next one in. Nails looked ok but they are so rushed rude and uncaring even my toe was bleeding and same guy did my friends hands and she bled too! No offer if beverage and bill for 140. The day I was scheduled to come in, I woke up with severe toe pain. I came in with my mom for a mani-pedi. The services were good, as expected. But that real highlight for me was this: I explained to my nail tech that I was having pain in my toe. And she told me that I had an ingrown toenail. I had never experienced this before so I trusted her. I was a little apprehensive at first, but she spent about 20 minutes working on my toe. And it was the best thing that has ever happened to me. I requested a classic manicure December 24th. It was the worst quality I have ever seen. A guy did my manicure. I decided on 2 layers and it was really thick and wouldn't stick very well so he was pressing with his finger my nail polish. Absolutely horrible! I did not have time and left but thinking that I might not return to the place. I do not know if they are licensed or even know what they are doing. Previously I had dip powder that chipped after 2 1/2 weeks.They are charging a lot and quality is poor. My favorite part was hand massage that they don't do it anymore unless you request it.
