I visited for the first time for sharpening and repair and did not expect them to be located on a residential street, but it is in the Heights so no concerns. I got a friendly greeting and immediate service. They looked over one knife that was bent and warned me it could snap but they would try their best. They took down my cell phone and said my knives would be done within an hour. About 45 minutes later I got a text. When I got back, the bent knife was straight and the rest were sharp. I found this place on Yelp. What a fantastic job. I got all my knives in better-than-new condition. I didn't have to wait, but only less than 10 min, but they are swamped. I even bought a knife there. They have a great selection of Japanese knives. I really recommend this place. Serenity Knives is an awesome place. I felt like a kid in a candy store. They meet you at the gate and walk you through their blacksmithing and blade sharpening area. The craftsmen are hard at work. Proud to say that I purchased my first quality EDC knife from Serenity Knives. I walked in just checking out what they have and doing my homework since since I'm new to the knife community and had an idea of a few knives I wanted as my first quality EDC. I usually go some where check some knives out that I had my eye on and ask question at different stores to learn why I would pick one knife over a another. Then I sit on it for a day or to to make sure I don't impulse by something. I had every intention of doing that as I walked in into there shop, but i appreciate how they nerded out with me answering all my questions and making sure I picked the prefect knife for me and what I needed. I came here the other day and met Daniel and Russell. Daniel sharpened a Benchmade knife of mine as well as a cleaver. He put a perfectly mirrored, polished edge on my benchmade hidden canyon. I can honestly say that it's sharper than new. Equally as good of a job on the cleaver!! Both blades were sharpened in about 25 minutes. Blades 6 inches or less, one side, cost $15 to sharpen. Blades over 6 inches, one side, cost $20 to sharpen. I'm assuming this may potentially be a case by case situation depending on style and condition of blade. Both Daniel and Russell make knives in house. There is a showroom with pre made knives ready to sell. Half of the inventory are knives from manufacturers like benchmade, buck knives, Kramer, and Miyabi. That's just to name a few. They have everything from tactical folders to cutlery. The other half of the inventory are knives they've made. They're all incredibly well made and beautiful to look at and to hold. They also will make custom knives to order!!! I know at some point I'm going to have to get something custom done! I saw things in the showroom that I never knew I needed before, like the stubby handle on a chefs knife. Two of my Shun's had what looked like chips out of them. I'm not going to say it's my mom's fault b/c she just didn't a month visiting (so I'm just going to type it). (Mom, if you read this, I'm half kidding; don't get your feelings hurt). It didn't take me long to realize this was beyond my hone sharpening abilities so started the search for a pro. Serenity obviously has a great rating and i see why. When I approached the rear workshop, Daniel saw me coming and waved me in. He quickly looked over my entire arsenal of kitchen knives, advised which needed sharpening and provided some education for going forward. (Proud to say I only hand wash my knives and keep them on a magnet and not in some block). Fast service, I was able to get some stuff done in my car and Daniel had them ready for me within an hour. Noticed at home that both the knives had come back with reshaped tips (probably had been chipped and reshaped). Also, one of them was not noticeably sharper than when I brought it in, as I still had trouble cutting vegetables post "sharpening" *Edit - Brought both knives in again after talking with Russell and he sharpened them and did a great job restoring them. My wife needed her sewing scissors sharpened and after some research I found Serenity Knives. We went there this morning and were greeted right away. Showed them the scissors and they got started sharpening immediately. While they were sharpening the scissors we chatted with Russell while looking at some of the magnificent knifes they have made. Russell is extremely knowledgeable and we really enjoyed chatting with him. It took less than 10 minutes for the other person (David I think his name was) to sharpen the scissors and WOW are they ever sharp!
