Caught fish on every trip on the lake! Crappie, Bluegill, Perch and Bass is what we fish for. The cabins/homes are very clean, and Donna and Andy are extremely friendly and attentive to whatever we needed. Real nice sand beach swimming area. Free WiFi in the cabins/homes. Had canoes, paddle boat and kayaks for use. Cute little activity room available with a foosball table and some pinball machines. We'd recommend you check them out! It was our first trip there and have already booked for 2020!

Also, it was extremely clean clean. The fishing was very good with a variety of fish(Crappie, walleye, perch, smallmouth and a 40" musky). First off..what a great weekend! My wife,dog (and baby to be) and another couple of married friends…read more(and their 2 year old) all headed up to Ron's Hideway for the extended weekend and it was fantastic. First off a fully furnished house with dish, dvd player, and all the other great amenities and placed right on the water with you're own private dock is a rare find (not that we used much more than the coffee maker due to all the fishing). Personally I spent much of the weekend kayak fishing and boat fishing with my buddy, and the ladies enjoyed the peace and solitude that water front property in the north woods of WI affords. Suffices to say we are very happy with the weekend, especially compared to more than double the rates we have paid in the past for a run down cabin much more removed from the water. Lastly..taking a boat across the lake to a bar/restaurant to enjoy a few WI brews and deliver a great pizza back to the house at 11pm is an experience I'll not forget. All in all - great experience, and we'll be back. Highly recommended.

Someone needs to do quality control. Those ribs should not have been served. The baked potato option was good the brocolli option was bad, tasted odd left it on the plate. Mentioned it to the server with no response. The salad I had was a little wilted and one piece of greens was black and shriveled on the end of one of the stems. The old fashions were spot on. The bartender, he's top notch. Service was just okay nothing special. This will be the last time for Thursday nite special for us. The meals alone were 54 bucks and the only good part of the meal was the bread and broasted chicken which were both prepared fresh. Their Sunday all you can eat chicken dinner is really good.

Though the cabin itself was good, I had a very bad experience with the management team. We Rented 2 Kayaks from Hiller Vacation home during our stay. One of the Kayak's was absolutely pathetic and wobbly. My wife almost flipped over when we took it to the late first time. I raised the issue with the management and sent them the video proofs about the issue with the Kayak. But to my disappointment, they completely ignored my complain and were adamant on the fact that the Kayak was fine.

The toilets have not been clean in months and had residue all over. The beds had very cheap sheets which were put on inside out and the wrong way and we had to remake them: the grill and oven have not been cleaned and we had to clean them prior to cooking. The towels that were provided were from Walmart and left residue everywhere. For almost 8 grand a week you would think the home would be clean. There are spiderwebs and dirt and debris all over the floor. The vacuum that was provided didn't work. We would not return due the dirt and grime.

The rental company did call to have the electricity fixed and hired a tree service. We had no power for 2 days. No way out of the driveway for 4 days. They had called to check on us and I told them we still had no way out and no water with the inability to flush toilets. She suggested we take a bucket to the lake.. mind you there are 72 steps down from the home to the water. I told her we didn't have a bucket and she gave me an "oh well" type response. There were 9 of us, 4 were children with no say to was hands. We couldn't get out of the driveway to get supplies. You can't fix the weather BUT they could have way more to help us... offer to bring supplies or give us a ride etc. I should have reported them to public health for running a rental without proper sanitation I have rented multiple places in this area and this is by far the worse rental company I have ever worked with.

The plumbing was horrible and the bathroom door didn't fit in the frame so you couldn't close it. My 8 year old daughter was crying because she tried to close the door to use the bathroom and it stuck in the frame so she couldn't get out till we heard her and I had to force the door open. No outlets at all in one of the "bedrooms" was pretty inconvenient. We stayed one night out of the 4 we booked and just left. I spoke to management (Kathy) and she said thanks for letting her know but nothing she can do. For $300 a night I would expect it to at least be decent. My wife and daughters were very disappointed and so was I, wasted money and my vacation time. I wouldn't trust Stepaway Rentals

There is a list a mile long of what you can't do, and the "management company" at check in threatens they don't want "bad renters". They are short staffed on cleaning people, and nickel and dime you for your security deposit to pay for them to "clean" the cabin. We took sheets off the beds, swept the entire cabin, and left what we thought was left it in pretty good condition for them to clean the rest. Boy were we wrong!! It's unfortunate as we had been coming to Lofty Pines for years. With the new management we will never be back. Steve especially has issues about making sure it's known he is the boss, and definitely takes it out on renters. Just not very vacation friendly.

This is a great, quaint, classic Northwoods lodge. We took our two young boys for a week with…read moreextended family and booked the Vista cabin in the main lodge. The accommodations, while a bit dated, were clean, comfortable and had everything that we wanted. Walkout access to a great beach where we could watch the two young boys play from our kitchen window. Very shallow, sandy bottom that was perfect for swimming. We spent a few nights by the campfire on the beach and I caught a nice largemouth right off the pier. Excellent bike and running trails were immediately accessible from teh cabin, and decent food was a short walk away at Fibbers. The owner, Jim, was very friendly and accommodating without being intrusive. All in all, a great, memorable vacation for the family. We will definitely be back next year.
