Though the cabin itself was good, I had a very bad experience with the management team. We Rented 2 Kayaks from Hiller Vacation home during our stay. One of the Kayak's was absolutely pathetic and wobbly. My wife almost flipped over when we took it to the late first time. I raised the issue with the management and sent them the video proofs about the issue with the Kayak. But to my disappointment, they completely ignored my complain and were adamant on the fact that the Kayak was fine.

The toilets have not been clean in months and had residue all over. The beds had very cheap sheets which were put on inside out and the wrong way and we had to remake them: the grill and oven have not been cleaned and we had to clean them prior to cooking. The towels that were provided were from Walmart and left residue everywhere. For almost 8 grand a week you would think the home would be clean. There are spiderwebs and dirt and debris all over the floor. The vacuum that was provided didn't work. We would not return due the dirt and grime.

Had canoes, paddle boat and kayaks for use. Cute little activity room available with a foosball table and some pinball machines. We'd recommend you check them out! I'm sorry to say that my last several visits here were not only disappointing but the last visit on July 7, 2024, has me never going back. On more than one occasion in recent past, we have had food cooked incorrectly. I kept coming back because I know there are few restaurants up north and I want to try to support the businesses. This was the last straw. One of the items we ordered was a hamburger, medium-rare. It came out very well-done, almost burned. We asked for another one. The waitress came out and told us that the kitchen refused to redo the dish. The waitress said she would just place another order take it out of her own money. She was crying. She also asked for us not to complain as she would get in trouble. Mind you, a similar thing happened to us over a year before, with a different waitress. Mistakes are made in any business. Dishes are over or undercooked but it is how the business deals with it, which makes the difference. I'm done with this place. I understand that after last winter, businesses are struggling but the customers are struggling too in this economy and are spending a lot of money to enjoy an evening out. If we are paying for a dinner, we should be able to get it cooked correctly.

Or was it the friendly and welcoming proprietors Lou and Colleen? One thing I am sure of is that I would love to come again and again. There are two rental cabins that are attached (connected) perfect for large family gatherings as each cabin has a bunk bed and another separate room with bed. Shower and bathroom, full size fridge, and a stove. There is another log cabin available but I did not see that one. Also, there is a bar with a pool table that can be rented for family gatherings as well. There is a private ramp (boat launch) and multiple docks right outside the cabins that are only 30 to 40 feet from the water. This place is magical. Come here from the city to completely unplug and unwind in this wooden paradise. I can't say enough about this place or Lou snd Colleen!

She takes great care of the cabins and always has great suggestions when you ask her about anything local from food to activities. The property is great for walks and there's some horses and donkeys to check out too. Our dogs always feel at home on the ranch. We love to ride ATV trails and Spur of the Moment has trail access. You ride from your front door to anywhere you like in the area, no trailering. On our last trip we brought a side x side and all the great trails permitted our lager machine. All of the meals we ate out we did by riding our machines to and Ann supplied us with maps so we knew where we were going. The trail system has so many local and long distant places to go to it's good for beginners as well as veterans. Last thing that we've always enjoyed is the other guests. The Ranch is not only good to ATV'ers it's VERY horse friendly. On a busy weekend you can have all types of guests and on every trip we've done it's never mattered what you're into, people are just friendly. It's flat out relaxing.

The kitchen is stocked rather well with most cooking and serving items you need for meals inside. Patio has a small grill. Our two bedroom two bathroom unit has one bathroom on each level. That means no master bathroom. We made it work for us for the time we were here. One thing we didn't like is there wasn't any extra boxes of tissues. We came for Spring Break and we have seasonal allergies. Thankfully we didn't run out of tissues. There was plenty of towels and tp, oh and blankets. Decorated in mountain cabin and bear motifs. Sturdy (and clean) chairs, couches and rocking chairs. Plenty of places to sit and read. Master bedroom has a sliding glass door that leads to a private balcony. Lower level sliding glass door leads to a patio that's part of the common area. And deer hang around here. Located an hour or more from several ski resorts in both WI and upper peninsula MI. Keweenaw peninsula is a great day trip from here.

We arrived just before 4 PM on Saturday (before the office closed) but their clocks must be fast versus our cell phones. We dropped off our paperwork and finally saw someone the day we checked out. The beds were not uncomfortable but we didn't sleep well. Overall, everything was fine but not great.
