Michelle is amazing at her craft, I leave the salon looking and feeling incredible. I go to her, specially for fantasy colors. I recently left with electric purple hair. The salon is inviting, the bathroom is always clean. There is ample parking and all of the stylists are kind and friendly. read more

Gloria is the magician! She always makes me feel beautiful after having my hair done.

Nicole is amazing!!! She saved my hair. I recently had a baby and have not done a thing to my hair for a while. I came with my hair dry, damaged and a complete mess. As you can clearly see in the photos, I left with a beautiful bayalage and haircut. The look I got was exactly what I was looking for. I will be coming here for now on. read more

Serendipity Salon - Teal highlights in curly hair - Hair Salons Near Me - La Mesa, California

I used to go here a few years ago. I loved my haircut. Tried to go back 3 weeks ago. Called to see if they had anything available. The lady on the phone said everyone worked independently and someone would call me back if they had something. I didn't really expect anything day of but I never got a call back. Guess you need to know who you want to get a cut from or else the business number is useless. read more

Serendipity Salon - Exactly what I wanted!! - Hair Salons Near Me - La Mesa, California

I had my hair done Saturday, with Krys. I made an appointment for balayage and Brazilian Blowout. We talked about what I wanted and she suggested we go a different route, not go as dark. I gave her an idea of the colors I wanted. I loved the way my hair looked in the mirror. Later she mentioned she added metallic purple and other colors which is not what we discussed but was clearly visible in the pictures she took of my hair. I figured it would wash out but still, not ok to add metallic colors when it was not discussed. On to the Brazilian Blowout. I have had this process done years ago so I am not new to it. Brazilian Blowout is typically applied to hair, blow-dried, flat ironed, product washed out, bonding spray applied to hair, blow-dried again, and finally flat ironed again. That is not what was done to my hair. Product was applied, flat ironed, and I was told to apply a mask she gave me a sample of (not BB brand), a couple days later. I figured it was a new process. After I washed my hair a day later, it was frizzy and not straight. I also noticed some gray hair was still gray, not covered during the process. Contacted Krys who offered to fix the gray so I went in. She covered the gray in a light color which is still lighter and not fully covered. She reapplied the straightening solution on the frizzy parts again, flat ironed it, and sent me on my way. I was to wash hair a few days later. I called Brazilian Blowout company to find out if the process has changed and they said it has not, and that my blowout will most likely not last because it was not done correctly. They said I should have never walked out with product on my hair and that it was not even sealed correctly and non BB brand mask should not have been used. The whole process should have been done at the salon. They even sent me an email with the step by step process. I reached out to Krys and she offered to do the process again the "new" way (which according to BB company has not changed) but I already made an appointment to get it done elsewhere. I am incredibly sad I have wasted my money. Update: I have now washed product out of my hair 3 days free she redid the blowout in frizzy areas and here are pictures. Here's a picture of how my hair looked when I left the salon WITH product in my hair and what it looks like air dried after I washed product out. read more

Went her years ago to see sheka, best results ever. Was affordable and personable. Low key and welcoming

This is my second time coming here, and once again I am very pleased& impressed with the level of skill and attention to detail. I got my hair done here by krys, and honestly she did an amazing job!! I have thick, frizzy hair that is hard to manage and she was able to give me such good advice on washing techniques, shampoo and what I should be doing versus what I am doing. Typically, I get my hair cut in a straight line. However this time I got layers and a deep conditioning, because treat yo self. And I love it! My hair feels so light, and best of all it feels so clean and soft. I am very pleased with my results, in fact so pleased I scheduled an appointment for August already. I highly recommend. read more

I love this salon! First of all, I am very cautious about who I get my hair done with so I've been going to salons more on the expensive side. However, my cousin recommended me this place and after seeing how gorgeous my cousin's hair is, I decided to try it out. The location is kind of hidden but has plenty of parking as there is a parking lot and street parking as well. The salon is so cute! I love the decor and the vibe. There isn't a front desk but I was greeted instantly by a worker and was seen within the next five minutes. Michelle was awesome! She did such a great job with my hair I was so happy with the result. I wanted to go lighter and shorter. Great price as well! This place is definitely my new go-to hair salon Also, after you get your hair done walk over to Swami's Cafe down the street to grab a bite! I know you're going to be hungry after spending 3+ hours in the salon! read more

Serendipity Salon - Beautiful - Hair Salons Near Me - La Mesa, California

I'm only giving it one star, because Genna has a pleasant personality, and offered to try and repair some of the damage, other than that, deserves NO star I went in because I purchased a groupon for BRAZILIAN Blowout, as I have done in the past for other salons through groupon. I came in, and was given a completely different "treatment" than I purchased. She did warn me about the smell, yet she said nobody would notice other than myself and my spouse, WRONG! My hair was my pride, shiny and manageable, I was only looking to eliminate frizz. Now, my hair is DRY, UNRULY, STINKS, and has a nasty waxy feel that I can't seem to get rid of! After calling Genna, she offered a deep conditioning to help repair the damage. I agreed, however, didn't appreciate the fact that she tried to put blame on my highlights. (Mind you, this would have been the 4th time I got a Brazilian Blowout, and always on my highlighted hair and NEVER with ANY complaints) nor was it brought up during consultation. At this point, I don't know if the negative review should be for A) Prevana (name of treatment applied) B) Groupon (sold as Brazilian) C) Salon Forget the $100 I spent, I just want my healthy hair back!!!! read more

Krys is my hair goddess! I was dying and damaging my own hair for years!!!! I came to her for help and she transformed the way I feel and care about my hair. She teaches me which products are good for my hair, what hair color options I have and what we can play around with, without damaging my hair. I'm a single Mom and appreciate her fair and reasonable prices especially considering how much time she spends on the details. I will never let anyone else touch my hair again. read more

Krys is the business!!!! The first time I went to her, she was able to bring my dry, damaged, black box dyed (for many years) hair back to life in the most beautiful way. On my most recent trip to see her, she transformed my hair yet again into something I never in my wildest dreams thought would be achievable. She is an absolute miracle worker and the only person I will ever trust with my hair in her hands. read more

I got my hair done by ALEXIS and she was so friendly and adorable. The salon itself was very cute and I really liked the vibe the salon had. Alexis was an amazing stylist. She was easy to talk to and very sweet. She is a very talented stylist. My hair looks the best it's looked in a long time. The cut itself exceeded my expectations. On top of that the way she styled it was the cutest any stylist has ever styled my hair after my hair cut. Typically I don't like how my hair is styled after the hair cut and I usually end up going home and restyle it myself. Most people like their hair cut when they are leaving the salon BUT I love my hair and it's been a week! It is literally perfect I wouldn't have changed anything. Also, the products Alexis used on my hair were incredible!!! I will definitely be purchasing ALL of the styling products and leave in conditioner she used. This was such a pleasant experience read more

Genna did my hair for a friend's wedding in October and did an awesome job! Michael Anne, the owner or Serendipity, has been cutting and coloring my hair for years. She always does an amazing job and I always get compliments on my hair. Upstairs you will find "The Pedicure Goddess" Billie Jo's pedicures are pure heaven. She only does manicures and pedicures, so you will not have to suffer the "fake nail" fumes. I highly recommend you treat yourself to a monthly mani & pedi. read more

My first time at the salon and with Ken doing my hair. I had sent him a pic of what I wanted. Before we started Ken informed me that the color I sent him would fade and be orange. Uh no thank you! So we talked and just me describing what I wanted Ken nailed it. While he was drying my hair I couldn't get over how shiny and perfect the color was. When Ken was done blow drying, cutting and straightening my hair, I felt like a million bucks. I love how he explained what he was doing and why! When I left I was already booked for my next service! High recommend going to Ken read more

I've been going to the same gal for 3 years + .. something inside of me told me to venture out - ended up falling in love with a new salon and hair stylist! After doing my research, I decided to make an appointment with Michelle. She originally had offered 1pm and I said perfect, just in time to get to work by 330. She made adjustments and told me to come in at 1130 since 2hrs is not enough. The salon itself is cute and tiny. Not very noisy and not too busy compared to what I've been accustomed to. Michelle was very informative through out my appointment, she kept me in the loop with what she will be doing with my hair next. She was quiet majority of the time and very focused on what she was doing. She didn't try to get nosy about my life like most stylist would - which I honestly appreciated! Lol After 3.5hrs in her chair.. I wanted to cry at the end result of my hair. It was SO GORGEOUS!!!! My previous stylist have always had a hard time lifting the bottom half of my Asian hair but Michelle left me with even, blonde/silvery, tan, hair!! So in love!!! I definitely won't be looking else where. THANKS MICHELLE!! read more

I've been coming here for over 4 years and Michelle has saved my hair, I was a ugly orange yellow blonde and she has helped keep my naturally dark brown hair a platinum pretty blonde for years, my hair is still healthy after all the bleaching, she knows how to take care of your hair and will get you to where your hair goals are, now I'm a silvery blonde and I get so many compliments on my hair. Stacy is another great stylist there she's amazing with her bold colors and gives the best shampoos (as well as Michelle) the ladies there are all super nice and talkative you feel very welcomed when you come here and it will make you want to come back. I have recommended her to many friends and my family memeber read more

This review is for Genna! This review is way overdue. I've been going to her for about two years now and every year, I move further away but I still return to her. I just had a blowout for my first time and I love it. My hair is so smooth and shiny, it feels and looks great! Michelle is the best in her game. 5 stars is not enough. She is amazing. My hair never looked so good. She even cut my split ends and yet my hair looks longer than when I came in! Krys is AMAZING!!!! Let me begin by saying I am one of the most picky people on the planet regarding my hair, and have also been addicted to hair extensions for over 5 years. Leaving me with tons of damage and broken ends *due to a previous stylist* Krys listened to exactly what I wanted and exceeded my expectations giving me a sassy new style and the best hair cut I have had in years. She also taught me the correct way to care for my hair regarding different products and ways to style it. She is my go to girl!!! Thanks for keeping my hair healthy and looking beautiful Krys! read more

Genna is a gem! She's amazing at complex color and trends, is very reasonably priced and has a great personality. I've seen her three times and have thrown her curve balls, as far as hair trends and color requests. I was trying to find a salon that was new-comer friendly and this was it. Going to a big salon seemed intimidating and this cute little hidden salon eased my mind. Great conversation and an all around great experience! Ill definitely come back to get my hair colored and recommend her to my friends and family. Oh! I've been going to see Alexis for years now and she always makes me look fabulous. There is no shortage of complements every time I get my hair cut and colored by her. She's especially good at color. I sent my mother-in-law in to see her for a fresh look and she came out with the most beautiful buttery shade of blonde. She is also very good and precise at cuts as well. I've got pin straight hair and it's extra important to have a great cut because you can see every flaw if not. read more
