I got the steamed momo and Keema noodle, which was recommended by the very kind and patient woman staffing the cart. She was happy to answer all of my questions. The dishes did not look like the photos. The momo filling was very flavorful, tasted like a mild curry. I liked it--most momos I have had before were more bland. The wrapper was a little on the tough/chewy side. I would have preferred the sauce was in a cup to dip rather than drizzled over the top. I was disappointed by the Keema noodles, which really didn't look like the picture. I'm pretty sure it was stir fried spaghetti, and softer than I would have liked. The dish was also a bit salty. I would come back to try other dishes though!

I think the best word to describe the food today is stale. Not super fresh, some dishes teetering on not so good. The temperatures were just a bit shy of the food being hot. Updated in April 2026…read more We came to Desi Bite's new location for lunch. The dining area is much smaller than the previous location. The shop was quiet with some customers picking up to go orders. We went to the counter and ordered two non-veg (chicken) thali plates, a mango lassi and a chai masala. I also asked to confirm that they don't have their buffet anymore. While we were waiting, we noticed that most of the tables were dirty with food smudges and left over trash presumably from the day before since it had just opened. I tried to clean our table with paper napkins and water with little effect. So we decided to just deal with it. My husband went to the restroom to wash his hands and told me the restroom was in need of cleaning as well. As our food came. We noticed the sides on the thali plates were different too. They used to have two side dishes with cucumber, tomato, onion and crackers. The new plates were more plain, not bad, but not the same variety. The food tasted pretty good, I noticed the curries were spicer as well. That makes us wonder if there was a change of ownership/management once Desi Bites moved. It's such a shame the Desi Bites we remembered is gone..

The menu had many options, and we weren't quite sure what to get. Settled on the chicken tikka masala, lamb saag, and a side of garlic naan. Both entrees came with a plate of plain rice. The lamb saag was good, the meat was really tender and broke apart easily. However, in my opinion, the overall dish lacked seasoning. The chicken tikka masala was very watery and even then, the chicken tasted dry. Garlic naan was fragrant, but not fluffy. Overall, I'm sure there are better spots for Indian in the area.

Vanakkam brought an absolute feast down from Portland to Eugene for our wedding. They not only transported a huge buffet, but also did live dose (dosa) and even added a live appetizer station last minute, fearing that the appetizers would be soggy. That means they were cooking on a huge griddle, cranking out crispy dose, frying paneer 65, wok-tossing gobi manchurian, all on the spot. Every single dish was SO GOOD. Our guests said it was the best food they had ever had at a wedding. People are still raving about it. We had many guests from India who were thrilled as well. Ganesh at Vanakkam was a pleasure to work with throughout the process. So responsive, kind and understanding, and his staff worked incredibly hard. It honestly blew us away. You should hire Vanakkam for your special event. 5 stars is not enough. 20 maybe. (This event just happened, but I'll update this review with mouthwatering pictures as soon as I have some...)

We are blessed to have a number of excellent Indian food options in the Beaverton / Hillsboro area…read more While searching for a lunch buffet option, we came across Vanakkam PDX and decided to give it a try. This restaurant, located in a strip mall area, doesn't really seat that many people, but for less than $16, you can experience a really amazing lunch buffet option here. Seriously, for the price of your average food cart entree these days, you can have an all-you-can-eat, high-quality, high-variety lunch. And this restaurant doesn't just churn out the basic stuff, either. You might get a bhindi masala, or goat biryani, along with some of the more typical plates like butter chicken. They mix it up, which is the sign of a great buffet. Honestly, they do something truly special with their tandoori chicken. I'm normally pretty lukewarm on that entree, but Vanakkam's version is a really sensational one. Samosas, Naan, Raita, etc. all available too. I hope they can keep this going at this price, and if so, we'll soon be a regular, no doubt!
