This is long but if you even for one second consider using them - you might want to read this…read more We had a small water leak under our kitchen cabinet January 15th 2023. USAA suggested Servpro of Columbus. Having been with USAA for 20+ years without issues - we didn't think twice and got in touch. Our first mistake! Mediation was done quickly and then there was no contact or any communication or a clear timeline. One morning we had a knock on our door to find 2 guys claiming to be here to tear our wood floor out. We did not let them in and called and told Servpro to inform them that this just isn't how this was going to work. We then got a project manager, Jonathan. We got some explanations and were sent to Home Depot to pick out new flooring (still confused how we had to go instead of being provided samples). We were told he "had a guy" that could match our kitchen cabinet that needed replacing instead of tearing the whole kitchen out. Workers came a few days later to tear the floor out. He didn't have equipment to do it and had to go rent it (HUGE red flag in hindsight but we never dealt with anything like this and just didn't know. They left huge chunks of glue and even wood on the floor that I unfortunately never got images of. They damaged walls and kitchen cabinets with the machine when taking out the floor. You can see in the photos how they thought the baseboards and quarter round should look. It looks like this through the whole first floor. Uneven beyond belief. Every single baseboard is uneven and has paint drips. They did NOT wipe down anything from the huge mess created by taking the floor out before they started painting. Every single baseboard, window frame, fireplace, door frame has wood dirt and particles painted into it. The carpet had paint drips on it, the new wood floor had paint on it (which they removed but it left the floor dull). They also got paint on our TV and when made aware of that - they used a razor blade to get it off which resulted into the TV screen to get scratched up. Nothing was covered before they started painting. At this point we are mid April. We noticed our living room floor was wet. Quickly realizing it came from the water spout that's on the wall outside they repeatedly used. When calling Jonathan he told us we will have to just get a plumber and that it was not on his workers. After reviewing security camera footage we saw them using our water hose and "pulling" it tightly. The last straw was our kitchen cabinet being delivered - probably a good 4 weeks after we were promised it would be here). Not only was it far from a match but it was made from a different wood (which partially explains that it wouldn't match). Jonathan was made aware of each issue throughout. We were done! USAA sent out an independent adjuster. He kept shaking his head and told us this was probably one of the worse jobs he has seen. Our new floor was already separating in places, was uneven, had a ton of hollow spots (they never prepped the cement before laying the new floor). After a LONG battle with a company USAA uses (a contract Connections) Servpro was found at fault for all items. They did not get paid and had to pay us for damages (the water hose leak, the TV, getting new baseboards and door/window frames and lots more). I am not going into the huge amount of other issues like cracking our granite counters, never being on time, awful communication, their contractors driving across our yard (we have a sprinkler system), washing their paintbrushes in our sink when repeatedly being told we are on a septic system and paint can't go into it, and just in general being very unpleasant to deal with. And lots more small issues that all added up to a disaster. I have not had a functional kitchen since March. This sorry excuse of a company has ruined more than just our first floor. We were finally able to get a new company and I HIGHLY recommend Southeast Restoration. They will treat you right. Since my first phone call to them it has been night and day.

I have been calling/texting them or their contractors daily for almost 3 months. Since initially calling they have closed their local office, I've been referred to people that never answer the phone or call back, the guy that they did finally assign to my case suddenly telling me that he no longer works for SE and stops responding to me, texts and emails going unanswered. The contractor that they sent out described to me a 4 day job to repair all the issues. SE only approved a minimal repair that took less than an hour. SE is denying that they ever did some of the work accusing me of hiring another company. I told them to contact the project manager or the contractor that did the work 4 years ago to confirm the work, but they refuse to do so. Probably because they also no longer work for the company. I have escalated my concerns to management of SE and they are denying any further repairs. They are not accepting any fault for the work failing. They are trying to claim it's a natural occurrence due to temperatures in my garage. I never had any of these issues before they performed the work. SE should not be referred to do any work! Between the lack of communication, unprofessional workers I've had to deal with, insinuating that I'm lying about the work they completed, my project manager being layed off in the midst of doing my job and having no point of contact, management not calling or emailing me back when they said they would, doing the minimal work possible just to say they're finished with me and closing my file, etc. SE has now shown itself to be a HORRIBLE company to work with and I'm still stuck with this poor work in my garage. No company should see my garage and say this is satisfactory work. This experience was with SE of Macon. They have now closed their office and I've been dealing with the district coordinator. So I can only imagine this work ethic goes across all parts of SE.

There was much destroyed. This started in the kitchen but not from cooking unlike the fire marshall's report showed (see picture). It's amazing how fast a "fire" or really hot smoke, will go through the house. I had just left the house when my neighbor called me and told me about the fire trucks, etc. around my house. I had to wait for an hour or two for the firemen, aka HEROES, we're going through and making sure that the house was okay. The next day I was able to go through and see what was salvageable. I picked up a few things like jewelry. Mostly I eyed what had remained intact which was not a lot, but anything solid wood survived. I remembered that there were boxes and such of Christmas items that were in their own boxes and then in a bigger box furthest from the fire. It was odd that that became a "damaged item". It amazes me the lack of professionalism and work performance this company maintains. I suppose all damage and restoration companies contract out work and Homemaster is no different except they choose the cheapest. Home master didn't even have heat and electricity on so the painters could see. Whoever they hired lacked the ability to paint but they had to paint in duress! I have paint peeling off the walls especially where there is any water nearby. Most bathrooms are at least painted with a semi-gloss, or glossy paint to repel moisture. My bathrooms had interior paint with no primer. So that means they only got one coat of paint. I know because when the pain peeled it revealed drywall. So, I will need a proper paint job on the interior of my house. I prefer eggshell matte paint in most interior spaces. Homemaster has no problem charging you premium prices yet they do substandard, if any, work. I received the estimates and I chose to not wallpaper the bathrooms as I had previously. They did not change the estimate at all and charged my home insurance the same as if they has wallpapered my bathrooms. Home master only let's you choose from THEIR store which was Lowes. I love Lowes but I didn't appreciate the lack of choices. The carpet choices were crap and I spent an extra $2k for padding. That seems wrong. I understand depreciation, etc. but really hated that, again, my choices were limited. Home master has no respect for the items in the house that have possible improvements. Again, wasn't asked/given a choice to keep my antique dining room chairs as they were upholstered. That seems like a homeowner's decision, NOT HOMEMASTER'S. So, basically they devalued my antique dining room and caused me much pain, angst, and worry. I've never regretted using services as much as I did in choosing Homemaster! If you want a good restoration company, DO NOT USE HOMEMASTER!!!

I wanted to cry. We contacted Homemaster immediately and they came out within 45 min.(we live in Salem, AL area.) They used lots of equipment to dry out the house and moved all our furniture up of the water area, pulled up wood floors and moved stuff from the closets that were floor level up off the floors. Repair work started promptly after drying out the house. They helped me redesign the layout of my kitchen as well seems how it all had to be torn out. THe options and I had to choose from were endless, but they made it very easy. I got the cabinets I wanted, chose all new colors etc. I picked out my own flooring and upgraded my counter tops to quartz and opted to pay the diff of what the insurance company wasn't covering. I also chose to buy my own hardware and they took this off the cost of my job. They were very easy to work with and took into consideration all my likes & wants as far as my kitchen layout. It turned out beautiful. I also want to point out I am a little OCD and picky, yet they didn't hesitate & worked with me as far as keeping the work areas clean & tidy for our family and pets, seems how we were living in the home during the repair process. This was our choice to stay in the home during the process as we didn't want to board our animal and live in a hotel. Every employee we met and worked with were amazing, professional and kind from start to finish. They made this process very easy for us and walked us through the whole process seems how we have never had to deal with this before. My husband & I are very pleased with the work at our home, I LOVE my new kitchen and will def. be calling Homemaster for any future issues we may run in to or any remodel work we may want done. Thank you, Tommy, Shannon, Dane, Rob & Steve for all our hard work & taking care of our family.
