My husband, daughter, and I stopped at this antique store on Main St. today. We shop at vintage and…read moreantique stores almost weekly. Our daughter is really into that stuff. The moment we walked in, we encounter weird stares from the man and woman behind the counter. Like they were suspicious of us. They never took their eyes off of us. Our daughter found 2 stuffed animals that she wanted and I found a teapot. My husband took the teapot to the counter. Our daughter (15) was hugging the the stuffed animals as she was trying to talk her dad into buying them. We finally agreed to let her get them when the guy walked up to us and said that he had been watching us on the cameras. He asked her to give him the stuffed animals. We told him that we were going to buy them but he kept insisting that she hand them over. It was a very weird experience. Very uncomfortable. I told him, I guess we look like hoodlems to you...paid him $97 to be treated like criminals. We'll never go there again.

This is probably one of the cleanest and most organized thrift shops I've ever been to! When you…read morewalk in, everything is perfectly divided into boys and girls sections, sorted by color and item type, which makes browsing easy. They also have a nice little kid area where the kids can hang out while you shop. I picked up 24 items, which averaged out to about $5 an item. While the prices are generally good, I do think they could lower the prices for smaller toddler clothes (like for my 3-year-old) compared to older kids (like my 6-year-old) since it's so much less fabric. The customer service could use some advice. Some staff wasn't very welcoming, and after buying 24 items, the cashier just handed them to me and said "thanks for shopping" ...no bag, no apology, and no warning that they don't provide bags. Trying to carry two dozen loose clothing items out to the car with a 6 year old was challenging. On top of that, they tacked on a $3 card processing fee at checkout without mentioning it upfront. Parents, please beware: I also bought one of the $4.99 sparkly bear jelly squishy toys for my daughter, and it has a very strong, toxic gasoline smell. I looked it up, and the CPSC recently put out a major warning to discard any squishy toys with this strong chemical odor because they off-gas carcinogenic VOCs like benzene. Shops shouldn't be selling these dangerous jelly toys to kids. Bring your own bags and cash if you go, but definitely skip the squishies!

When I mentioned there were many identical items in the back that likely had tags, he did not respond or move--he simply left the item sitting off to the side. Since no solution was offered, I went to the back myself, found the same item with a price tag, and brought it to the register. At that point, the associate told me he had taken my original item to the back to be re-priced--without telling me, and without asking whether I still wanted it. There was no communication, no attempt to problem-solve, and no basic customer service. This could have been resolved easily if the associate had offered to retrieve a tagged item or involve someone who could. Instead, I was left to solve the issue myself after being ignored. Very frustrating experience.
