If you ever get a good deal on a comic, the owner will never forgive you for it and will be rude to…read moreyou every time you visit the store afterwards. The store is poorly organized and the comics are not even priced! Few of them are even bagged or boarded! Basically, it's a pain to figure out what he has in stock, and then you have to wait for him to look every comic up on eBay so he can charge you as much as possible for them. The owner has been sitting on all this stuff for decades and has so few customers that he should be happy when anyone comes in wanting to buy back issues. Instead he basically relies on customers to let him know if any of his comics have any value, and then he takes to his smartphone to figure out how much he can charge you. I visited the store a few times and made $100+ purchases on a couple armloads of comics. The third time I entered, he informed me that I had "cheated" him out of money because ONE of the comics I bought from him previously was worth more than he (and *I*) thought it was at the time. He informed me that it was a "$40 comic", even though it really only sells for $15, and I paid him $5 for it. (Note: He looks at the maximum amounts of what people on eBay are ASKING for certain issues. He doesn't look at the much lower prices that the actual issues end up selling for!) So, I'm supposed to be SO SORRY that I got a bit of a deal on ONE COMIC, even though I gave him over $200 on other comics? The heck with that! I've been in the store twice since, and both times the owner was totally rude to me, like it's still eating him up inside that I gave him $220 when it really "should" have been $235 or whatever. People warned me about the shop before I went there, and actually even another comic shop owner from 100 miles away actually told me that this place is notorious. "You ever been to Pegasus Hobbies up there in Watertown? Yeah, that guy can't stand it when you get a deal from him!" In the four times total that I've been in his shop, NO other customers ever entered. He has few customers, and I can see why. I will never shop there again.

We have been enjoying visiting this local used book store, roughly once a month. They got us hooked…read moreon a series of books, and we keep stoping by to see if they have the next one in the series available. After all, the library does not have absolutely everything! The store is following COVID protocols. The staff is warm and friendly, and knowledgeable. They have oodles of books, with a kids section of the shop, as well as a variety of movies. Recently, because of the holidays coming up, they have been selling groups of a dozen books all individually wrapped, as an "advent calendar" of books, containing such things as Archie comics. To encourage kids to read. This book store has a Facebook page as well, to advertise what they are doing in the wss as y of special events. And watch for the adorable guard-cat :-)

Visited Sanctuary Comics today on a Saturday. It's out of the way so we thought we would be the…read moreonly ones there today. However, Secrets of Strixhaven came out yesterday as the new set for retail. The shop was full of people and product. I have never been in a store so chock-full of product on sale. It had the vibe of an old hold in the wall library. In the back of the store was where the shop owner stood to take orders of cards and packs. He had literally every set of Magic Card packs I had ever heard of, which is definitely different than other stores. The prices were decent for them as well. The best part was they have a shop cat named Panther that greeted me as soon as I walked in. Soooo cute!

It's not cheap pulp crap you see elsewhere. It's printed on real nice paper. People love these books. You can tell people there are having the time of their life. In fact, there must've been a promotion going on, since my friend who doesn't play was given a free draft booster, probably in an attempt to keep the noble tradition alive. The other stuff you can get are varied. You have comics (evidently) in the style of manga and western graphic novels. I also noticed some magazines and art books. Aside from these are some interesting board games, apparel, figurines, action figures, and miscellaneous accessories. There's also a place for games; I saw people playing with cards (likely also Magic). The store is completely judgment-free, so don't worry if you feel like you stick out. The staff here are very friendly and will help you find what you need.
