You can find him there most days listening to the radio or reading something. The prices can be a bit high, but that's the case with most book stores these days. The store itself is a must-visit just for the space: it's in an old gym that's been refurbished, leaving the gorgeous two-story space intact, with a full lower level and what might have been a track level in a square balcony on the second level. The upstairs is where you'll find all the college gear, art, and some games; down below are the gifts, textbook pickup, general bookstore, and younger kids games and activities. The staff were extremely nice and helpful, and while the prices are full retail for books and gifts, you will want to support the ability to browse by buying some stuff, we hope. A genuinely nice find in an otherwise somewhat disappointing (for books) pair of college towns in Potsdam and Canton.

Arlie's is a place I always check out when I'm in the Westport-Perth-Smith Falls area, just off the main drag in Smiths Falls. It has a terrific selection of books in a wide variety of genres - westerns, mysteries, sci-fi/fantasy, biographies, just about everything - and of course a special section on local/Ontario history. Remarkably, the store has expanded since I first visited, nearly doubling in size. I do wish that the opening hours were a little longer, but I make an effort to get there whenever I'm in the area.
