He left the truck at the top of the hill and they ran an extra hose line down to take care of the septic tank. They even came down and knocked on the door and let me know what they were doing. Great bunch of guys. I walked out there to check around the site they worked on couldn't even tell they were there did such a fantastic job cleaning everything up . He stopped by the same day, was transparent about how to analyze and determine the cause of the backup. As a professional builder myself, I have worked with hundreds of contractors and subcontractors, and I can say without a doubt that Rick and his son Jesse are the team you want to call to solve your septic problems. Stilwell Plumbing & Heating in Brandy Station, VA for an estimate. Their man came out on January 27, took photos and notes, and told me we'd hear from them soon. After not hearing back from Stilwell for a week, my wife called and spoke with one of their employees, Nikki, who again said we'd get an estimate soon. We did, and my wife again called back to say we'd like to go ahead with the work. That was the last we heard from Stilwell until, on February 22, Kelly called again to say we were going with the first contractor because we hadn't heard from Stilwell. Nikki claimed she had left two messages on our phone number. We had no messages on our business, home or mobile numbers. Today my wife received an emailed invoice in the amount of $334; $105 to compensate Stilwell for pulling a county permit and a $229 "restocking fee," because they had ordered the water heater and were returning it. They were being charged a restocking fee, and were passing it on to us. Note that not once did we receive phone calls FROM Stilwell, nor did we receive email communication until this invoice arrived. My wife immediately called and asked what number Nikki had left the messages on. Nikki read back a number ending in 4577. One of ours ends in 4572. None of our other numbers are close to that. When she pointed out that the error was on Nikki's part and that we were basically being charged for her error, she was told we'd have to pay the fee or Stilwell would not release the county permit. Only one contractor can hold a permit on an address at a time. A call to the first contractor confirmed that they were unable to pull a permit for this reason. We had no way of knowing they were going ahead with the work order. Our old tank is showing rust, so we had to move on this. We'll have to pay over $300 to get Stilwell Plumbing to release the permit, yet Stilwell's employee admittedly called and left messages at the wrong number. I'm slack-jawed at the utter disgrace with which this company handled our call for service. Despite admitting the error, they refuse to back off on the charge. I hope that $334 makes your wallet full, Mr. Stilwell, because it hasn't done anything good for your name.

We used Advantage for decades for pump out service to our residential septic system. When we needed…read morean inspection for real estate property transfer, we selected them for that as well. We had old plans for the location of the distribution box and drain field lines. Using their equipment they were able to sound it out and located the box about 25' from where the plan said it was supposed to be. Unfortunately, when it was dung up for inspection, we saw a failing distribution box (43 years old) that had sunk on one side and begun to degrade. Under a tight time line, Mike and his team were able to replace it and the manifold lines to the drain field. Quality of their installation work was excellent. Prices were fair and they did a great job dressing the lawn with grass seed and straw after leveling it out. My only suggestion for improvement is how they manage their phones. It is rare to ever speak directly with someone when you call. The online scheduling tools also have a bit of a lag in responsiveness. I know their work is worth the inconvenience of having to wait for your calls or online submission to be responded to 24 hours or more later but I would hope this is something they might give more attention to as new customers may be turned off by what they might perceive as a lack of timely response. Over all, I was really pleased to have these folks come through for me when we were under a tight timeline to close on our sale and they ensured our buyers will have an excellent, reliable system for many, many years.

The money wasn't the problem- it's what the plumber said to me. He didn't want to tare up the drywall in the laundry room, which is next to the bathroom where the leak was coming from. There was a musty smell coming from the laundry room so it made sense to me that he should remove the drywall. He didn't want to do it, but it was okay to pull a few pieces of drywall from the ceiling and charge me $200. When he opened up the ceiling, the same musty smell was coming through the ceiling. He said, "this smell is really bad, I need to get out of here." I think your problem is the tub. He referred a water mediation company to do some mediation work since a part of the ceiling was saturated. He had the audacity to say, "The water mediation company will be able to diagnose the problem. We will come back to fix it if you want us to." Are you serious? I called Kinnett, a plumbing company, to get a diagnosis and fix the problem. He was either incompetent or just didn't want to do the job. In all fairness, the company offered to send someone else after the mediation work was done. I didn't want to risk getting another lazy or incompetent plumber so I called Reddick and Sons. They sent a seasoned plumber who determined the problem after the mediation company removed the drywall in the laundry room. It turns out that I need a diverter.
