I have come less frequently in the last few years since moving to the States, but nevertheless this was one of my go to places once upon a time. I am SUPER bummed that they have changed their make-up application prices. It used to be about $45 for make up application -- but you could put that towards buying their products, so you don't just "lose" that money. No brainer! I came in this past Saturday and the new pricing is $75 for a full face and you can't use that towards products. The only thing I did get with the pricing was a set of false lashes. They do have a "targeted" make-up application that is $45 but you choose the service. For example: eyes, lips, contouring, etc. Which is also an insane price in my opinion. Sephora does the same type of targeted service for FREE. Honestly, they do a great job at application and I do really like their products including some of their skin care line (particularly Scientific Organics). I also enjoyed their quick and dirty 3 minute facial prior to applying the make up, it makes it feel a little more spa like--- but the spa feel ends there. Almost every location, including this one, ends up being small and cramped, especially with how busy they can become. I am not sure why they have never invested in a more spacious location, they could certainly use it. In my experience, always book an appointment if you can. It is usually very tough to do a walk-in. However, it was easy to schedule an appointment with only 1-2 days notice. A Beauty Club membership pretty much pays for itself if you come in for services and/or buy products. Plus, they have a whole bunch of perks like free "targeted" makeup on your birthday, 50% off a facial, 10% off products, etc. Final word: The new pricing is going to make me think twice about coming back (especially for make up). Sephora still does make-up for $50 and you can put all that towards products (ANYTHING they sell in the store, so it doesn't even have to be make-up-- it can be perfume, hair, bath products, etc). Personally, I prefer Sephora but it is much more difficult to book and you have to do so much further in advance (weeks- months). Caryl Baker is still a solid choice, and it is still on my list for other services--- but I can't justify the new price for make up and would only do that if I was in a pinch.

    Really and truly one of the worst experiences I have ever had at ANY establishment…read more I can assign the one star rating to cleanliness. That's where it ends at Raw Beauty Bar. The manicurist's behavior was appalling and the overall manicure sub-par (see photos below for the hack job on my cuticles and the overall streaky and messy colour). Will have to visit either of my two tried-and-true nail salons in the east end to fix this one. I usually write more detailed reviews. This was my third attempt at it. I'm beyond angry about this experience and nothing I wrote seemed appropriate, so there you have it.

After I posted my review (you can see my previous review below) the owner of the salon emailed me directly. Not only did she apologize, but she explained things (why they've been short staffed, why it's been hard to get in touch, etc), without trying to excuse them and then she laid out her plan of solutions. It really was the definition of how to win back a customer. I went back today and couldn't have had a better experience. Big props to the young woman running this bustling business- a one-woman show- with integrity and respect. I booked my appointment online, which was very quick and easy. The staff were all friendly and incredibly attentive. All my previous issues seem to be a distant memory. I will definitely be going back. My previous review: Cute interior, good location, but poor customer service and a lack of communication between the employees. I've been a few times, hoping once I got into their grove, things would improve. I can't even count the number of unreturned voicemails I've left. Literally a week will go by and my voicemail (during business hours because the phone goes unanswered regularly) will never be returned. I haven't found any of the staff particularly friendly. There's a candy bar at the front and a coffee machine but I've never seen anyone be offered a drink. The nail services themselves are good. I think it would be fun for a bachelorette party or a group of girls since you could take over and make it what you want.

    I went in to get filler for under my eyes at the Davisville Clinic and was told that it was better…read moreto do this new treatment with serum from placenta to target my eye area. I asked for a pamphlet or information on this treatment and was told it was on website, which it is not. They lady who helped me said l need 3 treatments and l trusted she knew what she was talking about and purchased 3 @ $4,455.00. They did not give or send me a receipt so when l requested it l noticed that no treatment information was given. After them putting on freezing ointment they left me in room alone for one hour and forty five minutes during this time the ointment got into my eyes and l could not see. I was in hallway calling for help over 5 minutes. Then when they did start the procedure the freezing was starting to wear off and was a very painful experience. The room was very hot and the lady doing treatment was highly irritated by my discomfort. By the time she got to my neck she had to put machine on the lowest level because of the extreme pain, as the numbing cream was no longer effective. She was aware the freezing had worn off but insisted that she had to finish. When l left l was told not to wash face for 2 days and then spray with apple cider and water. No further instructions for after care were given or sent later. No follow up on my condition. I have done Morphis8 and other skin care procedures and never have l experienced such lack of care and discomfort . I had over 5 open skin wounds and had to go see a doctor to get ointment to heal these areas. There is no visible difference in my skin or face l still have the same two zits on my check that l had before procedure. l feel like l was experimented on with a procedure that was very new to the technician and this should never be the case. When I returned for my follow up I was told my money would be returned to me. The manager gave me her personal number so I would feel comfortable I would get my money back, it turned out to be a fake number. I have written this company every week for the past 2 months and no one is helping me with this situation. Horrible customer service, horrible customer care. Got to Skin Vitality, do not let these people touch your face. Honestly I was traumatized by this experience and l hope no other person has the same experience l did at NEW YOU MEDSPA.
