I shopped in this particular store site (and used my new credit card, yay!) for the first time last Wednesday, August 29. I was extremely satisfied with my experience. The customer service was stellar! The store is clean, brightly lit, and the stock is arranged so that you can find your items at a glance. The selection of cosmetic and perfume lines is superior to any department store, with lower- to couture- quality in a variety of price ranges that will suit anyone's budgets. Don't be afraid to come in here if, like me, budget constraints are an issue. Applying for their in-store credit account allowed me to stagger my payments over a couple of months, and spend a bit more than I can usually afford. Interest rates and terms are comparable to other specialty stores. The sales associate greeted me upon entry, and came over promptly to offer her assistance when I couldn't find the size of Chanel #5 that I wanted. Turns out there wasn't any in the drawer, so she went to the stockroom in back. She came out twice to let me know that she was still looking and hadn't forgotten about me. Mindful of the other customers (although the line at the checkout was moving fast) I told her I didn't mind coming back in few days if they were expecting an order. She said that no, looking for it was her job and she didn't mind. This won my heart instantly.....I love great customer service! She found my bottle and I went to check out. Stopped by to get some essentials, haven't been wearing makeup for a few years and needed help picking out the basics and getting color matched. As soon as I walked in I saw a welcoming smile and asked for some help. Jovanni took me and my friend around the store, listing to every detail and quickly got to work finding us all the products we needed. We got Dior foundation and concealer, makeup by Mario contour stick and blush stick, new brushes, setting powder, highlighter and lip oils. When we got home to try everything out, we were in love with all products and the colors matched us perfectly. This Sephora needs to work on customer service. There had to of been 6 employees there and not one acknowledged me, greeted me, asked me if I needed help, etc etc. The ONLY time someone actually spoke to me was at the register when I was paying. I came in to get foundation. Being as this was my first visit at this location, I had no clue where the Urban Decay products were... so while pushing a DOUBLE stroller, I had to wander around until I found what I came in for. Then while trying to maneuver my giant stroller into the line to check out, I was completely blocked by a worker going through a billion different trial-sized products for another customer to try. (Lovely how they place these IN THE LINE)... ugh, I couldn't wait to get out of there. Being as I was spending $40 on foundation, you'd think you'd get at least some kind of customer service. I probably would have received more help if I went to a drugstore for $6 foundation. I'll have to check if there is an Ulta around here. I am 100% a Sephora junkie. I've been a VIB rouge status for a few years now and it just shows how much I love this place. First & foremost, their customer service has always been exceptional (at this location, it being the only one I've been to really). Everyone greets you and is as friendly & helpful as can be. They have the best products (especially for skincare), but I love the makeup too. I spent $75 a few weeks ago & they offered me a free facial which I LOVED! They also have a points system and you can get some pretty awesome & decent sized "samples." One of the things I LOVE is that if you try a product out and end up not loving it, you can return it for a full refund (obviously if ya didn't use it all). I love love love Sephora! read more

I have been a Sephora customer for many years and have always been happy with the service and consideration with which I was served and treated. My days of being a Sephora customer ended yesterday, when the Raleigh manager/customer representative failed to return my call on two consecutive days. I was asking for consideration of my failure to return items within 90 days. I missed the cutoff of 90 days by 2 days, due to illness. (Not surprising for a senior citizen). I live in a small town 75 miles from Raleigh and yes, I could have Fed-Exed my returns, but I was sick and I didn't. Due to my love affair with Christian Dior's DiorShow mascara, I must frequent Sephora approximately once per quarter to get a new tube. I've been in several Sephora locations, but this one was the worst. Maybe it was the holiday season. It was busier than usual. My problem with this location is that it couldn't adequately keep the line moving. Some things are not their fault (e.g. the way corporate HQ makes them update people's information on their frequent-buyer program -- in line where you hold up lots of other people) but some are their fault. The first problem was that no one asked me as soon as I walked in the door if they could help me find something, which is odd. No two Sephoras are laid out alike, so either someone has to help you or you wander around until you find what you're looking. The worst case in point was the chick in whose line I initially stood to check out. She apparently knew the mother-daughter patrons in front of me and had to chit-chat while checking out, despite the line behind them. After the sale was over, one of them noticed the check-out girl's new engagement ring, and they commenced a discussion on The Date/The Dress/The Colors/The Venue...you get the idea. I moved to another line and was waited on by someone who didn't know what she was doing. To add insult to injury, the store manager didn't bother to wait until my sale was over to replenish the girl's cash drawer with extra change. I just found DiorShow on Amazon - I believe I'll have it shipped home from now on...and for a lower price! read more

Stopped by the store today and received excellent assistance. I had a list of what I wanted and one of the employees went and found everything for me which was very helpful. This is how you help people when working in retail! She was professional polite and extremely kind. Love this, especially around the holidays when customers and employees tend to be frazzled. The only reason for 4 stars vs. 5 is that there were not enough cashiers and the line was long. On this particular occasion, I had the opportunity to speak with a representative directly from Nars. She was extremely helpful and helped me find my shade in the Nars makeup as well as really nice lipstick that complimented my skin tone. I also appreciate the rewards that you are able to redeem. So I went in here on a Sunday afternoon. I started walking around looking at the shelves. Looking down this one and peering down that one. I wasn't sure where everything was located, because I had never been at this location. I walked past several employees with little shopping baskets that looked like they were there to assist customers. None of them asked if I needed help and after about five minutes of me wandering around I noticed that they had gathered together and started talking. I went up to their little group to ask a question and they just kept talking. So I spoke up and asked where I could find something. One of the three looked at me and pointed me to the wall and told me where to look. Then they all went back to talking. None of them bothered to escort me over there. None of them asked while I was meandering around the store looking lost if they could help. The customer service while certainly not the worst was VERY lacking. I ending up leaving, because I couldn't find what I needed. I have been to several Sephora stores and the customer service has always been very helpful and friendly. While the customer service did greet me with a smile here, the ones I dealt with didn't seem to want to go out of their way to help a customer. I did see one customer service person going through shelf after shelf looking for something along with a customer. I also overheard her offering advice and suggestions to the customer. At least one of the employees here seemed to be helping. Also the two ladies at the registers seemed to be quite busy and were smiling and pleasant. I didn't purchase anything, so I'm just going by what I saw. The store seems pretty small compared to the other Sephora stores that I'm used to and it seemed a bit cramped. The shelves also didn't seem to be well stocked. I noticed a lot of empty spaces where there were tags on the shelves. The store did seem very clean, so that was a plus. Overall, I probably would only go here again if I really needed something that I couldn't get at Ulta. read more

I think Sephora does for makeup what Victoria's Secret does for lingerie; it provides an atmosphere where men can go in and browse without feeling like some sort of pervert. I have gone in a few times to get a gift for my sweetie and the women there have always been very accommodating and helpful. I guess my only beef with Sephora is the prices; these minuscule little makeup bottles can cost a king's ransom. Not being a regular consumer of cosmetics, I don't know if this is abnormal or not ... but I do automatically suspect price inflation in any store located in a shopping mall. But - my sweetie always seems pleased to receive a black Sephora bag, and that's good enough to keep this consumer happy! read more

I'm really not happy with the Sephora here. I normally buy online, and I can say I have some knowledge about different kinds of makeup products because I genuinely like/am interested in makeup. Having said that, on the rare occasion that I am at the mall, I always stop by thinking that I could get some professional help or get color matched. But are you kidding me, Sephora? How is it that 4 out of 5 times I come in and ask questions, I know more than your staff?! And the first time I got color matched for foundation, the two colors she put on my face were clearly not my shade. And the second time, with the same lady, when she applied concealer, all I could think about was how much better I am with a makeup brush as well as knowing what products are paraben and sulfate free than these employees. Also, the woman who checked me out seemed so uptight and not friendly at all. And that is why I stick to Sephora online. And if something isn't my color, they have an AMAZING return policy. read more

I can be incredibly hesitant to go into a Sephora. So much stimuli, so many things to play with, so much money can be spent.. I was in Raleigh for a close friends wedding this past weekend. As a gift to the bride I decided to make her an appointment to get her makeup done (for the first time). Her makeup artist was Janelle, and let me just say this girl was fantastic. I was there as moral support and a beauty advisor, yanno take the stress away from the bride. I explained what she had in mind, showed her my friends dress and she went off with it. The look came out perfect, not too dramatic and was really beautiful. Some times makeup artists can be a bit heavy handed, or even the other side of the spectrum not handed enough. She was just right. Not to mention she was a blast and made the experience that much better for us. All of the other Sephora employees I encountered were very friendly, a big change to some of the other Sephora locations I have been to. The only downfall? In the hour I spent wandering around the store I spent too much money on myself. Ha! read more

I'll shop online, honestly I'd rather buy otc makeup than deal with these idiots again, I'm in the medical field, I wear my face shield with my own clients and in the medical office, it covers my eyes nose and mouth, I refuse to be told by the manager that my face isn't covered and if I don't take the mask she was giving me I'd be asked to leave. These nothing written about what type you mask you need to wear, you my dear manager lady were extremely out of line and clearly making your own damn rules! Sephora is one of the best places in town to pick up cosmetics. They carry a pretty substantial array of different brands, which can make it easy to find the right thing for you no matter what your particular style might be. I missed that day in middle school where people taught you how to apply makeup, so I have managed to pick up quite a few tips from the people at Sephora on what makeup looks best on me and how best to apply it. I've shopped here several times and something is off about this store. One thing is the layout of the store is so cluttered based on it's size. In years past the boxes of products were dusty and it was obvious the product was sitting under hot lights for a long time. Fyi, that "cooking" will ruin it and it's worthless if you buy it. This is why most people order it from the website and it's fresh. They have so many people working there and no one was that helpful or attentive. Update: 10/23/16 They have improved as far as the dusty boxes goes, but when I was trying to get a price for something it took forever for someone to assist me, and there were employees everywhere. I'm not a demanding customer, but I am a VIB Rouge and expect better service. I've also overheard some pretty bad skin care and makeup advice from their SA's. Sephora makes it seem like their employees are thoroughly trained cosmetologists and estheticians, but very few of them are (and they'd be working somewhere else). Whoever the "color specialist" was who helped me today needs a lesson on customer service. I walked in looking for some basic starting make up for a wedding I will be attending. I never wear makeup, and know very little. I also wasn't looking to spend a lot on makeup. I asked for help, but made it clear that I wasn't looking for makeup application, so the lady sent me to the color specialist. She did the color IQ test, punched in some numbers and grabbed one bottle and just whipped out her brush and started putting it on me. She whipped the brush out of her apron, and who knows when it was last cleaned. I felt very uncomfortable especially because the brush kept stroking over my mouth. She didn't explain anything about the results of my color IQ test, didn't help me explore options, and didn't ask if I had any questions. Just handed me a bottle and tried to escape. I had to keep stopping her from running away so I could ask questions. She also only gave me one option of foundation, blush, and lipstick, instead of giving me a few to choose from within my budget. At one point she said "okay have I answered all of your questions yet??"When I asked for less expensive alternatives she just said no and ran off. I spent about 15 more minutes in the store cluelessly trying to figure out what I really wanted to purchase, and what would match my skin. I even saw her standing around and observing me wandering around the store, and would avoid eye contact when I looked her. Yet she went out of her way to ask other customers if they were finding everything okay. What was this lady's problem? Why was she so rude? Also, I am now genuinely concerned about getting herpes from her disgusting brushes. read more

OMG! My first experience at Sephora! I requested an online appointment and I was assigned to Lisa, one of the many beauty consultants. I was having some professional business pictures done and I wasn't sure where to start. Lisa took the time to listen you my needs and concerns. Because I wear glasses, I wanted my eyes to really pop. And wanted to make sure my makeup wasn't to heavy or ridiculous and clown like. Lisa introduced me to amazing products and within a short time I was all made up. I'm obsessed with their Fresh products like Lotus Soy moisturizer and pricey Rose and Black Tea Face Masks, about 45 bucks a pop but your skin will love you, Black Tea is my favorite the natural tea calms and evens skin tone, Fresh Sugar is their lip balm line that is just crazy awesome, perfect sheer color, smooth, never sticky but a serious price at 22.50 for lip balm. I have all the shades lol. You only live once why not splurge on lip balm that you adore?? They smell MAC, Dior, Kat Von D cosmetics, Urban Decay, Anastasia, Too Faced, Bare Minerals and on. Their Sephora brand isn't too shabby either, love their lip gloss and their tools, best tweezers I've ever owned and top notch professional make up brushes a fraction of the price. Fad products come, rise, and flop. While I was looking at mascara an employee rudely apologized to the customer he was helping because I was standing in the only cramped space. I know I looked lost because I absolutely was, but luckily I'm not illiterate and was able to eventually find what I came in for. NEVER AGAIN!!! I've never had my makeup professionally done, but I booked a 45 minute "custom makeover" for a Gala I was attending that evening. I showed up early because I had a hair appointment immediately afterwards. My skin is dry/mature and sensitive, so I told the associate EXACTLY what products I use that worked and brought pictures of what my desired outcome was. I walked in with Vitamin C and moisturizer on my face and told him that. Since I literally had an hour and 15 minutes until my hair appt. I thought I was in great shape for time. I let him do his thing, he did my eyes first, which seemed to go fine. I wasn't paying attention but he put the serum that I use at night on my skin and then applied a foundation (not the one I asked him to use). When I looked in the mirror I was HORRIFIED... the foundation was splotchy and sitting on top of the primer, when I touched it (because of the serum) it was balling up and falling off. I told him to take it all off and start over (this was at the 45 minute mark). I always keep mini products in my makeup bag, so I showed him what foundation to use... This dude had the nerve to take my mini and use my personal stash on my face, I mean really... we're in a makeup store, take some initiative and just go get the bottle. Because he didn't put Vit C, moisturizer or primer on (he had just wiped it all off) he put the foundation on and it still didn't look right, I told him to just keep going because I was running out of time. It was 12:50 and my hair appt. was a 1:00. I called the salon and they said they could wait till 1:05. So, I told him to just finish up. He did a little contouring and applied falsies and then sprayed a crapload of setting spray (mostly on my forehead?). At 1:00 I said that's it... I've got to go. So, I left with no blush, no lip color and late for my hair appt. Got my hair done, then went to Belk to see if someone from the makeup counter could blend the contouring, add some blush, concealer under my eyes and lip stain. Long story longer... I wouldn't go back to this Sephora for a makeover EVER. A word of advice... if you want it done right, try going to Belk and let them have at it. I was already stressed out because of the Gala, but this experience added so much more unnecessary stress. Huge disappointment. read more

I LOVE makeup and hair products. I mean... LOVE. Glad there is at least a Sephora in the area although the store is very small and hard to get around in, especially if you have bags. The selection is limited so most of the time I will just go online to buy the things I want. Also, if you buy online you can get samples of things. If I am at the mall it is nice to run in and see some of the colors in person and feel the products. I have had a few "makeovers" by the staff and have never been impressed. One very annoying thing I have experienced a couple of times is when I was in the back looking at skincare someone comes up to me to talk me into buying a certain brand and doesn't identify herself as a rep for that brand so I find it misleading. Well, when I got home to check my email and view my emailed receipt (no paper), the cashier had NOT applied the 10% that I had reminded her to apply. Smaller than the branch at Southpoint, it's often quite crowded on weekends and the volume of customers will dictate whether customer service ranges from very helpful (on a slow day) to being totally ignored (weekends and holidays). Popular items can sell out quickly so if your heart is set on something in particular definitely call before enduring the congested mess that is the Crabtree mall parking area. If you have detailed questions about any of the products or want to partake in any of Sephora's colour matching or makeover services, weekdays are probably your best bet for a non-rushed experience. read more

I can't tell you how many times I've walked into this store just to walk right back out. It's way too small and cramped, and it's hard to find things there. On top of that, this store is HOT. I walk in and immediately start sweating. I'm not sure if the heater is turned on too high, but this happens every time I go in. Sephora is consistently 10-20 degrees hotter than the rest of the mall. As a result, all of the products are hot. I was about to buy a perfume a few days ago, and it was hot to the touch when I picked it up. I figure that can't be good for something like perfume (or any beauty product), so I left empty-handed. I'll buy products online that I can't get anywhere else, but I prefer Ulta. read more
