I would think customer service would be a high priority with so many competitive make up stores and there were several employees available had they wanted to. Im giving 2 stars only because there is a chance for improvement however weak the manager may be. It was when I walked into the store and noticed that there was a gathering of the staff in one area, that I went on with my business and thought to help myself. When I walked into the door of this Sephora store, first off I was ready to spend some money and (FENTY) was my go to brand and I was shocked to see that the FENTY display was a mess. Broken cosmetics, missing display pieces, just a mess. The "chatty" employees didn't seem to be paying attention. And when someone did come over to assist me I wished that she hadn't due to her nasty attitude and disposition. Stay away from this place if you can! The ladies are nasty and rude! They won't help you, or give you any kind of real customer service. If you do ask a question they will treat you like a 3 year old! If you need a product looked up they automatically tell you it's out of stock! My friend and I walked in today to try some samples since haven't been too happy with our foundations. We had to look for an associate and once we found her she wasn't too pleasant. We requested some samples and this really tanned girl, the one with really big glasses told me to go get the one i wanted and bring it to her. First of all I needed to get matched and not once did she follow me so I can show her nor did she seem interested in my needs. So I went and grabbed the foundation and then I asked her for some other samples she might recommend and once again she pretty much sent me on a scavenger hunt bc you have no idea where the products are located around the store. Ended up leaving the store upset. Not only did they lose two customers (at least this store) but service was so bad I had to write a review about it. read more

I've had my makeup (eyes) done several times at various Sephora stores in different cities and this is by far my best experience. I went to get my eyes done for my birthday and luckily I got Eric. I usually stay clear of high priced cosmetics, but I happened to be at the mall today, and ventured in. I was in a wheel chair and was happy the asiles were wide enough to maneuver through them. I use to go in often and a nice girl with red hair would always help me and she was so sweet but I don't think she's there anymore. The girls working there could not be anymore unaware if they tried. If you ask for help you either get a dry response, attutude, no help or the lovely "i dont know" and walk away. The team at this specific location is extremely helpful and very knowledgeable about the product. They always make sure that I get the help I need and I never feel ignored. Minimum inventory, it's always a mess, and you can never get someone to help you because they are always busy talking among each other. My last in store purchase for me did it . You MUST visit Eric for Eyebrows at the Benefit Brow Bar inside the Sephora/JCPenny. OMG!!! I had been growing out my brows for a few months while looking for someone to trust again. Eric is AMAZING. Heard through a friend he was the guy to see and he absolutely is. He hooked my eyebrows up. Not even exaggerating. Not only did he hook them up, but he also helped me to learn how to fill in some small bald spots and how to use the product. I am so excited and super happy with the final results. I was in there today and wanted to purchase an entire kit of makeup because my luggage was lost. I have been vacationing in the desert for 27 years. I tried to start with concealer. I had two colors of concealer on and the beauty consultant handed me a cotton to clean my face and then another customer came around the corner. And for some reason she walked away from me. I was hardly done shopping. The customer she opted to help was was white. I'm not sure why, but I find that I am discriminated against in an awful way in the Desert. It's getting old. Almost all Hispanic people in the Desert prefer to help people who look more white than me. It happens all the time. I'm shocked that it happened at a Sephora. I am pretty sure the store sells every color foundation for every colored woman. I called to speak to a manager and no one picked up. O have also reached out to corporate. This was not cool today. I threw my garbage on the ground and walked away. I am sickened by the service at this store. Do NOT get your eyebrows waxed here. I recently went to the Benefit Brow Bar inside the Sephora JC Penney in the Palm Desert Mall. Go to The brow bar at Macy's in the mall instead. I had to ask my Benefit Brow Bar "specialist" several times to correct obvious problems. She was very friendly all though lacking experience. She did not remove the wax correctly which also caused the brow hairs to grow back much faster than when a professional does them. It's hard to find a good brow artist many use improper techniques. For 25.00 you expect an exceptional job. read more

I'm giving 2 stars because over the weekend the manager apologized for the poor customer service we have received in the past or I would have ranted about how they should get 0 stars. In regards to the manager, I wish I would have written down her name! Cute dark haired chick with lots of tattoos (reminded us of Kat Von D) who was very helpful, sweet and apologetic. Our other experiences prior to this have been terrible. My daughter and I actually only stopped in here the other day because we had to get something from the mall or else we would have gone to El Paseo. First bad experience was when I was looking for foundation and they didn't really even take the time to color match, or check the lighting. I wore this foundation to work and everyone thought I got a tan ONLY ON MY FACE over the weekend. Went back to exchange and I ended up looking jaundiced with the next color that was selected for me. Decided to go an exchange again, hey we are talking about $40 foundation here, so yes I went back to exchange AGAIN. This time they were more helpful, of course I explained that I've had to come back twice. I finally got a foundation (I was recommended to try different brand) that matched my skin tone, but unfortunately it wasn't the full coverage that I requested so I feel mislead. Anyway, my daughter also bought a foundation that wasn't the correct shade (they just can't get this right) so we went to exchange. The salesperson was very rude and wanted the receipt even though my daughter has their "Insider" card with a billion points which tracks all of her purchases. I understand that there are policies that companies must follow, but be nice about it. She seemed so annoyed and frustrated and asked to see my daughter's ID. I explained that my daughter is 15 and does not have one, so she just demanded to see an ID to complete the exchange. Rude. Okay, I'm going to get some slack for saying this but...I feel that when you work at a makeup counter/store you should know how to flawlessly apply makeup on yourself, and hopefully on others... Not the case here, it was a big ole mess. Apparently there is a limited edition item that my daughter wants to buy the whole stock of, so we wanted to call ahead to see if they had any left. My daughter didn't want to call because they were so rude, I didn't want to call because I didn't feel like being rude, so my mom called but they didn't answer. They are always super busy and there are never enough workers. We just showed up and fortunately they had one left in stock. The line was long and taking forever until the manager led us to another register in the JC Penney section to expedite the checkout process. I casually mentioned that she was the nicest person we have encountered here, and that was when she advised us that she was the manager. She was surprised to hear about our previous experiences and ensured us that it would not happen again and if it does, she wanted us to call and ask to speak with her. Went to Sephora in search of a good concealer, and walked out with fabulous eyebrows (and the concealer)! Eric pointed me in the direction of a new concealer which he offered to show me how nice it worked and then through conversation, I told him I had a wedding to attend. He asked if I wanted my eyebrows done (I don't usually have them done).... he did such an amazing job, that now I feel the need to continue to go have him do them on a regular basis. He also sold me eyebrow products which I have never used, but once again, I am now hooked. Eric is very knowledgeable, kind, and helpful. I hate this place. Nobody ever talks to my sister and I! Ever! We come in either full face of makeup or bare and they still won't talk to us. They don't greet us nor ask if we need help. I love talking makeup, so I'd love to get a 2nd or 3rd opinion on something. If there is a special day out of the year, where the stars f*cking align or some sh*t, that they finally decide to talk to us, it's usually that old blonde lady that gives a very sour attitude about everything. Whether if I ask about the formula, experience, pros or cons. She looks like she doesn't want to help at all. Let me state that I frequently shop here, ever since they've opened, and I've talked to this lady several times- I'd say at least 7 times since they've opened. Yes, in the end she does help but I think she really doesn't like helping young adolescents like us. She has a positive attitude and enthusiasm when helping older women but never us. Maybe she has bad experiences with younger people? Who knows. Now I will say that there some downright amazing people there. I remember an asian lady, very tall, and spoke in such elegance. I liked her voice and she knew exactly what she was selling to me. I usually go in knowing what I'm going to buy but this lady convinced me to buy more stuff (or at least gave me more samples to try out which were very helpful). Also a red haired lady that doesn't wear the tunic and she's usually in black pants and a black shirt. She was pretty cool and genuinely nice. I haven't seen her around but hope she's helping other people as well because she helped me through sorting out which foundation would benefit me. Anyway, yes go here to snoop around and see what's new but only go here if you know what's on your shopping list and you're willing to buy it without any hesitation. There will be no help at all and you might feel awkward like I have many times. There will be some rudeness and no help at all sometimes. I suggest, if you have the courage, to actually come up to one of them and ask for help. They might direct you to someone else but at least they are helping to some extent. Be aware that most of them do not know how to color match. Then again it is very hard to do since it takes a trained eye and years of experience. Foundations won't have the perfect color for your own unique and specific pigment. I would like to state these are my own experiences and do not mean any disrespect. I am stating what I have witnessed and this is just my perspective on things. This does not mean that this will happen to you. Everyone changes and has bad days. I came to this sephora about a month ago (give or take) shopping for a rather large gift for my cousin and maybe myself. I work retail and customer service is so important to me, and this store had horrible customer service. It wasn't busy but somewhat steady, fully staffed and I also saw some workers just standing around yet I received no help, was not greeted or pretty much acknowledged. So I continued shopping looking around but anytime I had a question I felt as though I had to flag someone down and even then I got a short response no suggestions or any help. Finally I just grabbed everything I wanted and arms full of products in line to pay, finally I get asked if I needed help. I spent a good chunk of money there but I did not get acknowledged by anyone until the money was shown in my arms while I was in line, 3 girls came up to me to ask if I needed help while I was in line, where were they the hour I was in the store.
