My first few experiences at Sephora were great. Once my oldest started shopping here, I saw a HUGE decline in basic customer service skills from the staff inside. Last visit my oldest went into buy 3-4 different products, she had assistance from 2 different sales associates. Went to go pay and the cashier asked for the name of the person that helped her. She apologized and said she couldn't recall, the cashier proceeded to roll her eyes at my daughter. My daughter did not notice, but her friend did and so did a mother and daughter behind her in line. What kind of business is this? I wrote a review on Google, had someone reach out asking me to email them. They removed my post, lol. I will not be spending another cent at this store. With their recent reno, they should also clean up their unqualified staff with the attitudes. The experience was not only embarrassing to my daughter but also left her feeling unwelcome to the store. I was pleasantly surprised by the fantastic service I received from Salma. She took the time to color-match me for a concealer and introduced me to the Paula's Choice line of products. I wasn't sure about the liquid exfoliants, so she suggested the trial sizes, which were great options. She even checked out my purchases personally, so I didn't have to wait in line at the checkout, and since I had a store credit, she billed the items separately so I would receive more points while using up the credit. Honestly wasn't thrilled with my shopping experience here. I'll stick to my store experience given that the whole brand experience really is outside the staff's control (i.e. the fact they always seem to be out of the birthday gifts or out of stock of certain items). I needed help finding some light make up ideas for an upcoming event. As someone who doesn't regularly use make up, I hoped to find some help looking for a cc cream, tinted moisturizer or something of the sort that's safe for sensitive skin. I had a few criteria I sorted out but the store is full of many brands. I spoke to a few of the staff and they each seemed to just bring me to the brand that was closest to where they were stationed. I don't know if it's a sales thing where they're assigned a section to sell... but honestly, some of them didn't even make sense given what I was looking for... I wanted light coverage, natural, sheer. I was brought to a lot of full coverage, heavy foundations that didn't work well on sensitive skin. One of them was by the Dior line and after I said it was a bit heavy, she just sighed and said "well did you want this shade then?" and proceeded to grab the product and get ready to check me out.... I didn't even like it and it was definitely not my shade. It looked weirdly orange and I could tell easily where she put it on my face because it didn't blend at all. And when I asked questions like what works best to use under the products, I was pointed to the most expensive things in the store which were outside the budget I suggested.... It was very pointless to keep showing me things that were $50+ outside of my budget. Some of the staff just seemed really miserable, really impatient, and not wanting to be there. I didn't feel like they cared about what I was asking help with. Not to say they were all like that. There were 2 staff that came to check on my throughout my browsing that were really helpful, shared a smile, and really listened to my skin concerns. They were patient and let me know I could look for them if I had any questions about any part of the store. It made me feel a lot more comfortable. The others gave me this weird feeling of like.... they're looking down on the customers. I just felt really self conscious about my lack of product knowledge and I needed a staff who could help and be understanding. It's a convenient location for Markham goers, but I recommend doing a lot of your own research in advance so you know what you want before asking for help. Their sampling supplies are also not being refilled often enough. I had to go around to the same stations to find tissue and cotton pads. It was quite frustrating having to run back and forth through the crowds of people. I know it's exhausting to work service in a place that's always crowded, but to a certain degree, it's your job. You have got to treat the customers better, and remember that not all customers are the reason you're annoyed at work. Some of us aren't there to be rude and snobby. Some of us genuinely just need some guidance and look to you as the experts. read more

My rating is a bit of a mixed bag. This Sephora is my local one at CF Markville Shopping Centre. My experience with curbside pickup during this pandemic wasn't the best. My rating is 3.5 stars, rounding down. I don't frequent Sephora often. I'm there at least once a year to pick up my birthday gift. I used to shop more often when this store had its line of Formula X nail polish. I loved it. It was my go-to polish until the decision was made to yank it off the shelves. Rest in peace, Formula X. During this pandemic, wearing a mask has put a toll on my already oily skin. Luckily, I don't wear a mask every day, but I am definitely prone to more breakouts thanks to the mask touching my face along with my breathing into my mask and my skin hating me. I have been figuring out how to reduce breakouts and simply restoring my face when I used to have the occasional breakout. I recently found out about Fenty Skin, a new skin care line by Rihanna. I watched her video on her three-step process. Her line is gentle, yet effective. Her product line says that it works on all skin types, eliminates oil and impurities, and repairs the skin. I wanted to give it a try. Instead of getting large versions of the cleanser, toner, and moisturizer, Sephora has a starter kit. Perfect! I ordered it through my Sephora app. I placed the order on Sunday evening, got the confirmation early on Monday, and picked it up on Monday afternoon. I made the mistake of following the curbside pickup instructions on the app that was linked to my order. It basically said to head into the store and a beauty advisor would assist me. The order had a barcode for the advisor to scan. It also had a link to my Beauty Insider barcode, which indicated to have the advisor scan it. I had looked up the mall entrance that was closest to Sephora. It was entrance 2. I parked and walked up to this entrance. The sign said that it was closed and that entrance 1 was open. I drove over there, which is next to Best Buy. I walked into the mall and talked to a security guy. He said to call Sephora. I should have looked at my confirmation e-mail, as it was slightly more accurate. However, it did not state which entrance I should be at. That detail would have been helpful and I don't think it's all that difficult to add into a bucketed e-mail confirmation. I spoke to a nice woman on the phone. She said that she'd meet me at entrance 2. I let her know that I was at entrance 1 and needed to drive over there. I eventually did. I forgot that curbside pickup for Sephora requires that you pay during it. I am so used to paying upfront that this detail had slipped my mind. There were two Sephora beauty advisors there to greet me at entrance 2. I'm not sure why they needed two. Maybe one was there as a bodyguard to wrestle me to the pavement if I took the Fenty Skin products and made a run for it?! The payment machine was presented. The downside was that the signal wasn't great. I had to do it twice. I also asked about whether they needed my Beauty Insider barcode. One of them said that it was automatic when I placed my order through the app for curbside pickup. It was good to know. I wish that these details were expressed somehow during the ordering process, though. I paid with my debit card and they gave me my goodies. Both advisors were nice and make a confusing experience much better. One of them complimented me on my nails. I do miss shopping for nail polish and painting my nails at Sephora. I thanked both of them and walked to my car with my goodies. I have been using the Fenty Skin products religiously since I got them. It's a bit early to give a complete review, but my skin definitely feels smoother. I still had a breakout, but it was on my chin, where my mask tends to be. I accidentally snapped a photo of myself yesterday while juggling items in my hands, and noticed that my forehead and face above my mask looked pretty good. No filter. Healthy skin. Perhaps these products are indeed working. My favourite Sephora in the GTA is still the one in Vaughan. This one's not bad, now that I know how curbside pickup should work! (21) read more

I always feel welcome whenever I step in to Sephora especially the Markville Mall location. Since I always go in the first hour of shop opens, it is never too busy. The ladies are friendly. They always offer to give out samples and are patient to let you ask questions and try many products. They are not pushy. I will keep coming for my beauty products read more

Probably one of the best Sephora experiences I've ever had and during the holiday rush at that! This was my first time coming to this location and it definitely won't be my last. Every employee I interacted with was so kind and helpful. From the girl at the front putting away makeup, who gave me her basket for shopping, to the Caudalie Specialist who helped me find some really great gift set deals and finally the cashier who checked me out and helped me with a return flawlessly! I had better service at other locations. Waiting for assistance while she was helping another person is fine. She saw me waiting and walked away and didn't come back or said one moment. It wasn't even busy by the way. She goes off to chat with another staff member. Another staff member show lacked customer skills, when asking for a product she just pointed to the shelf instead of bring it down for me to look at nor explain the product. I guess they don't care about the VIB customers during VIB event. They have no excuse to say big crowd given that where were less than 15 people in the store and most where lining up at the counter. Other locations I've been too, Yorkdale, Fairview, Eatons, New York even when the store was full they offered good customer service If you run out of VIB gifts put a sign out or let them known when scanning in the VIB invite... instead of customer asking for it if you forgot to include it Won't be coming back to this location. read more

My least favourite location. Staff are often engaged in conversation with one another as opposed to offering assistance to lingering customers. I am a big fan of Sephora, just not this location. The worst Sephora location. Poorly managed, rude staff, below standard practices. There are numerous shelves that are empty for weeks - not because the products were out-of-stock, but because the store did not put anything on display. It looked like a liquidation sale was happening on the first day of the VIB rouge sale. There were also no stations where items such as cotton pads, alcohol and makeup remover are kept for customers, except 1 in the skincare section. The staff are very rude and I guess that's why none of the staff wear name tags. read more

I completely understand why this location has such a low rating. I've come into this location enough times to say this is worst location I've been in. The only good thing is that it is close to home. The service here is horrendous to put it lightly. If you want to come to this location I highly recommend you do your own research on the product you want to buy. Do your own research and know where you will find it yourself. Whenever I need an associate they are either busy talking to each other or nowhere in sight. When I do get the attention of a staff member they have no idea what they are talking about. I once asked about an item that was not on the shelf and asked if it was simply out of stock or just not there since there was no sticker that said out of stock. The girl couldn't even give me a proper answer nor did she bother to go look. Another time I had trouble looking for a product and I asked an associate about it. I told her the name of the item and the brand. All she could tell me was, I don't know what that item is but that brand is located over there. Points in the direction of the brand and ends conversation. JEEZ THANX FOR ALL THE HELP. NOT. Even at the cash register I feel the need to jump over the counter and basically ring myself in. There was product that had a clear sticker on it with a price of $50 and it rang in at $60. I asked shouldn't it be $50? and she was confused why i even asked that. I simply pointed to the bright red circle sticker on the box that clearly said $50. She just looked around like a deer in headlights. Like godamn. I have been to this particular location so many times and I find the experiences very mixed depending on the day. As a VIB I am there quite often to check out the new merchandise and see what's going on. Overall, staff are pretty friendly and offer you help. I had one negative experience there, but management rectified it quickly. The problem with this location is that they seem to run out of the points rewards fairly quickly. So if you aren't shopping right at the beginning of the month you won't be able to redeem your points. Also, they are very stingy with their samples. Just today after having spent a couple of hundred was not offered any samples and when I inquired was told that they had none to give out. That seems to be the constant theme. read more

Small Sephora - doesn't carry all the products a normal Sephora would (Becca cosmetics). Staff seem uneducated - for example, I had more knowledge on the products than the staff did. Also the manager is annoying, she will constantly bother you, yet have nothing informative to say. Only convenience is it being in Markham. read more

This was the WORST experience I have ever had with Sephora in my life. I have never been in such an uncomfortable situation. A worker aggressively accused me and my friends of STEALING and when I showed her that the lip gloss was not in my purse and it was actually in my hand, she did not apologize and forced me to take a basket. She then proceeded to follow us around the store while talking about us on her headset. This made every worker glare at us every time we would reach for a product. When we finally bought our product she followed us out the store and then sarcastically told us to have a nice day. Not to mention she pretended to call security on us to intimidate us. THIS IS NOT OKAY SIS. Prepare yourself for a horrendous and disgusting experience when you go to this location. 100% DO NOT RECOMMEND. read more

2 of the staff members I've spoken to were really nice, but majority of them are abrupt and don't really offer you advice or help. Most of the time, staff don't seem to be attentive to their surroundings. Even when not busy, It takes me ages to get the attention of a staff member for some help, and it feels like I'm bothering them when they finally turn to me. Often times staff are busy talking to each other and I feel out of place asking for help. No one at this location comes up to me and asks me if everything is okay, whereas in the STC location, I was checked on quite often, and given a lot of help as well as generous samples. read more

I have called this location multiple times to ask about potential classes, and have been at other locations while they have called to see if items have been in stock for me. The staff at this location rarely answers the phone, regardless of it being a customer or another location. Basically the same thing that everyone else says. Not a friendly or helpful location, if there's one thing they needed to train the staff on, it's customer service. No one smiles here and none of them actually know what they're talking about because every time I step into this location they tell me different things about policy lol. And it's not because there's a change in policy because I can understand that policy changes from time to time. I know retail does not train staff sufficiently and this is always the result: inconsistency. It makes me wonder what the requirements for working here really are. Another time I asked for a sample of similar creams for two different concerns that looked the same and the girl told me she didn't have any bags for them and I said it's fine. When I got both of the little samples I asked if she could mark one of the lids to differentiate between the two and she told me that's why she said she didn't have any more bags and thus couldn't write on them with a pen. But don't tell me a retail location doesn't own any sort of pen or marker. Overall, this showed she really didn't care so much for her job or the customer cause she barely bothered to look for a pen or marker of some sort. There's lots of different ways she could've helped a customer but she simply decided that since they ran out of bags NATURALLY there's no other way. I don't want to go on about the other points cause their main concern should be customer service. That's why I would rather opt for the Sephora app or Sephora online and have also started to visit further Sephora locations even though this one is a lot closer. I'm sure the staff at this location are more than happy that customers have stopped opting for this store. read more
