If you like Sephora, you're really in luck if you're anywhere around the Shoppes at Farmington. Valley. There are TWO Sephoras, one inside Kohl's and the other -- the one we're writing about now -- is free standing, a short walk away. What's the difference? We're not sure, but we'd suggest the free-standing store is a bit more focused on younger customers and seems to carry a larger stock. Not absolutely certain about that, but the staff here is younger than the one inside Kohl's, and we found them friendly and eager to assist. They helped us find the products we wanted, suggested a couple of interesting items, and we enjoyed their sense of humor (always welcome). I went to Sephora at Kohl's in Canton to pick up a gift. They didn't have what I was looking for, so I walked about five minutes down the road to where the free standing Sephora is. Here they had everything and then some. All the premium fragrances came in a variety of sizes and everything could be tested. The sales girls came over to help me, but they weren't being annoying or overbearing. It seems like this Sephora is really well stocked with all the newest products. All of the makeup can be swatched and sampled. The store it's self is small, but it's very well packed with all of the fragrance, makeup, haircare, skincare, and a decent but overpriced section of travel goodies. Unfortunately, just like everything else in the world the prices have increased at Sephora. Also, if you don't find what you need they can order it for you with fast and free shipping. read more

I always enjoy my visit to Sephora. And they always have the "top shelf" perfumes that most Sephora's usually have an empty shelf of aka Tom Ford etc. I appreciate that Sephora has their own brand as well. read more

I was super hesitant to enter this location today after a not so pleasant experience last time (read below for that experience). After purchasing a perfume at another beauty store earlier in the week that I discovered was not going to work for me, I wanted to look at some other options. I was greeted by two friendly associates and they asked what I was looking for (I'm so glad I didn't say just browsing despite my experience last time) I said I wanted to just look at some perfumes. Sara(h) led me over to the perfumes and I told her what I didn't like in perfumes and we took the scent quiz together to get a starting point. She was incredibly patient I began sniffing different perfumes and really was able to point to several options despite my indecisiveness and inability to point out what was working for me in a perfume. Clearly she knows her stuff because I named perfumes I used in the past that worked for me because she directed me to others that I wouldn't have considered. She was extremely friendly and didn't pressure me into buying today and gave me three samples to walk away with to test out before buying (2 new to me & a former tried and true). Wish I could've committed to a new fragrance today but 100% appreciate Sara(h)'s guidance so I could eventually purchase a perfume that I'm going to enjoy wearing. When I went several weeks ago, I just wanted to browse the clean skincare options available but was bombarded by a sales associate who made it so I walked out of the store empty handed and frustrated. I get sales associates are there to sell but I made it clear I was just wanted to look - I probably would've made a purchase that day if I had been given the space to do my own exploring and ask questions as needed. I'm so happy that I gave this location a second chance and will definitely come back despite it being far from where I live. read more

My sister and I went here after Christmas to get makeovers to figure out how we wanted to do our makeup for my wedding. I was not impressed by the customer service. We were directed to a woman wearing a headset. When we said we were interested in makeovers, she responded, "You're here for a [unmemorable acronym]?" "Umm, what is that?" She rolls her eyes, "[Unmemorable acronym spelled out]." (While apparently everyone who walks in the store is assumed to know what this makeover acronym is I couldn't even find it on the Sephora site.) We were told it would be a 45 minute wait. So we waited. Both our makeup artists said they would give us samples before we left so we could replicate the look. Both forgot. The woman with a headset came by at some point. "Are you giving her the map?" she asked, referring, apparently, to a makeover map that indicates what the makeup artist did. My makeup artist nodded. But I never saw that map. Now, both our makeup artists were nice. Really. But an odd thing happened to both my sister and me. Our makeup artists finished the makeover and just...disappeared. I sat there awkwardly wondering if she had wandered off or the session was over. And then I left and, regrettably, spent $100 (there's a $50 minimum purchase with makeovers, which I find chintzy. Ulta does them free). I realize this is a brand problem, not a problem of this particular Sephora, but I ended up with a load of crap. My Sephora makeup sits unused in my makeup bag, while my drugstore makeup gets used daily. Oh, and the Sephora eyeliner pencil sharpener does not actually work with my Sephora brand eyeliner, which, apparently, is filled with wood splinters rather than eyeliner. (Do you think if I poke my eye out trying to use my eyeliner, I can sue Sephora? Or at least get a rfund?) read more

The associates in this store are what set it apart from every other Sephora.. Lindsay B, Sarah, Carol, Brianna, Taylor, and Jessie have all helped me out on several different occasions and they are all PHENOMENAL! They're so knowledgeable about every product, very real when it comes to their reviews, helpful with tips and tricks for everything I've had questions about, super sweet to talk to.. they're all around fabulous to shop with! And I don't feel like I'm getting products pushed on to me when I walk in unlike other beauty stores in the area. I prefer this store over the other 3 stores I have purchased items from (Mohegan Sun, WestFarms Mall and Simsbury-Ooops, Simsbury is an Ulta). The staff is more involved in helping you make a purchase and suggestions that show they really do know the products available at this store. read more

Sephora has an amazing return policy that is customer focused. If you don't like a product, you can return it for full value-even if it is opened. The staff has always given me good suggestions in the store as well when trying new products. read more

Everyone in this store i sweet and kind and knowledgeable. This place takes time with you, doesn't make you feel rushed and is amazing.

I came in to do some normal shopping and decided to test out a clinique mosturizer from the tester section. When paying the woman ringing me out harassed me continuously to buy the full size one so i could get a free face wash with it after insisting to her i was just testing it out first to see how my skin would react. after telling her this many times she gave me a very nasty attitude, didn't take my beauty insider information and was overall unpleasant. I really like this Sephora location. I found the staff to be extremely helpful and attentive. I couldn't find a lipstick in the color I wanted and they did everything they could to find it, like search through the drawers and go in back to look for it. read more
