Seoul Providence is a new restaurant located in Davol Square. It took us a little to find the entrance but came across signs of where the main entrance was. When you walk in, you will be greeted by a nice hostess. There is a bar and then about 20 tables, some for 2 people, 4 people, and bigger groups. There are huge screens that were playing Kpop videos. I could see how the space can be used as a club after hours. After I told the hostess we would need a table for 2, she said the wait would be 10-15 minutes. I checked in on Yelp prior and saw the waitlist was less than 5 minutes so that was incorrect. However, we were seated really quickly, less than 10 minutes. She said the busboy cleaned quickly. There was a full list of cocktails, wine, beer, soju, and even shareable drinks. We ordered the Lychee Sangria that comes with white wine, lychee liqueur, fresh orange juice, passionfruit juice, and soda water with hints of peach, elderflowers, and lychee and the Asian Nectar, which is Pear Vodka, lychee liqueur, cranberry, and guava juice. Both drinks were delicious and very refreshing. The menu is pretty comprehensive of traditional Korean dishes. We started with 6 soy garlic wings. These came out hot and very crunchy. There was also a small side of radish. For entrees, we had the Yaki-Udon with bulgogi for an extra $3. The stir-fried udon noodles and bulgogi were very flavorful. The tteok-bokki came in a pan with rice cakes, fish cakes, egg, and assorted vegetables. It was a bit spicy, but it was very good. Every bite was very good. The check had a QR code which gives you an option to pay. There is also a Photo Booth station where you can take pictures and get it texted to you. The waitress was very nice and friendly. New Korean spot in town! It's located in Davol Square - lots of new restaurants in the area. Got the spicy garlic wings and spicy pork bibimbap. The bibimbap was quite good - I liked that they gave the hot sauce on the side, but there were no sides like kimchi, pickled cucumbers, etc. The spicy garlic wings came much later. As another review mentioned, it's not similar to the Bonchon wings. The batter-to-meat ratio is off; definitely a lot of batter. Service and ambiance were Aok. They had K-pop videos playing on big screens inside. The interior looks more like a dance floor than a restaurant. Overall good experience. Parking is limited. read more

I am reviewing this as a restaurant during the day. A spacious dining spot, aesthetic to the eyes and atmosphere does not smell cigarette or any signs that it is a night club at night. Food is fair, quantity is small. Service is fair. You encounter different people there is a greeter, server, an order taker and bill taker. That is their system. There is a high chair. Accepts credit/debit Parking space is tough. Only a few space that is near them, you got to find somewhere else. And parking spaces near it are private parking with tow warning signs. This is just...not it. I feel like this is a club trying to front as a restaurant and a restaurant trying to front as a club, and they should just focus on one thing instead of trying to be everything. We came here for dinner, and first, they had to move our reservation earlier so they could kick us out by 9 in order to transform the restaurant into a night club. OK, no problem and they were really nice about it and gave us a discount on our meal. But we barely had time to finish as they were clearing out the tables and starting the music. I had a noodle dish and the food was just ok. I would comp it more to my cooking at home than to something I would get at an Asian restaurant. I think its biggest selling point is these giant, colored tap drinks they serve, and my glass came complete with a lipstick stain from the previous night's party. Tried this place out on a Friday night. Went around 7:45. 1st thing is.. it's kind of hard to find. 2nd is, no parking anywhere near it. Once we found it and finally got a spot a few streets down, we noticed they had a sign in the front that said they were open for food until 8:15 (even though online it says 9pm). It wasn't an issue because they seated us. We decided that we were going to sit at the bar instead because the pub table they sat us at was too high and also tucked in a back corner. The service wasn't great at the bar but they're also not wait staff so it was to be expected. I ordered Mango juice (I don't really drink alcohol) and my best friend ordered the lychee martini. The martini was delicious. For food we ordered the Dynamite Shrimp appetizer. Oh My Lord it was so good we ordered another serving! I seriously have never done that in my life since I'm typically a light eater. Trust me..order it!! We also go the chicken teriyaki that comes with sticky rice and we ordered garlic noodles. I personally thought the rice was cooked in dirty water. It had an aftertaste I wasn't a fan of. I also was not a fan of the noodles but it might just be my own preference of spices. Let's start with location. It's in a beautiful part of providence and sort of secluded and private which has its pros and cons. Pros is you feel like you're high class and going to a super fancy dinner. Con is that parking sucks. You're either going to spend a few minutes circling around to find parking near by or surrendering and parking a few blocks out. I picked the latter :) The inside is very spacious. I loved the monitors with the music videos playing. It makes the place vibrant and makes for a good show if the table conversations start to die down. I'm not sure if the place turns into a dancing and casual environment at night but there's a stage like area and what could be a dance floor so there's a cool concept there. Now the food. The food was good. We had the Seoul wings--half and half on the soy garlic and spicy garlic. I thought I was going to like the spicy better but I actually thought the soy was the favorite. The wings are crispy and the soy garlic sauce is sweet while the spicy garlic is a bearable spicy level where you aren't blowing your nose but you may need a sip of water here and there. I would've liked them a little more if there was more coating or if it was more crispy/crunchy. I liked that the wings really absorbed the sauces. I wish these had a dipping sauce. Next we had the gyozas. They were good. Flavorful and fresh tasting. The last appetizer we had were the truffle fries. I was sold on the existing pictures on Yelp. I could just tell they were going to be crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. And they were. They were very light. I wish they had a little more Parmesan cheese. The dipping sauce was really good (a bit spicy). My recommendation is to dip it into both the ketchup and the other sauce to get a sweet and spicy combination. The only thing that was a bit disappointing was my main entree. I ordered the yaki udon noodles with spicy pork. I'm used to having spicy pork in ground meat style so I wasn't really expecting shaved pork. I could taste the spiciness a bit. Since the sauce was thinner, and the noodles are so thick, I think it was hard for the flavors to all soak in. As a result, I felt it was bland at times or I found myself moving my food around a lot to try to merge all the ingredients into one. I really liked the vegetables, mostly cabbage pieces in it. I heard good things about these noodles with the chicken so maybe that's a better option. Went back august 22, 2023 and service is still slow and confusing. You can tell management is severely lacking when they are busy in the bathroom just playing with their phones and on the floor overlooking everything instead of actually helping the kitchen, the servers, or even the bus boys. It took a good 20 minutes before water came to us and order was taken. It took another good hour before appetizers actually came. I didn't think you could mess up khalbi beef but the beef was over cooked and under marinated. They fixed their cheese tteokbokki and thankfully it was NOT sour or overcooked. Jalapeño bombs were thankfully still made the same but the some of the greens were old and soggy and no, it was not from the heat of the food. Again, if you're coming here for drinks, this is definitely the place! If you're coming for a nostalgic and cleaner wonder bar, this is the place. If you're coming here for a nice sit in food restaurant, do yourself a favor and go to some other place to fill up on food before getting your drink on. read more

The ambiance is awesome. Very hip and modern. Giant tv with K-Pop artists is very entertaining. Lot of alcoholic drinks. We had the bucon mule. It was good. There are lots of shareable drinks but too bad there's only 2 of us. The menu selection is limited. We ordered the calamari, tofu stew, bibimbap, and stew rice cake. The bibimbap was good. The tofu soup is spicy and good. The calamari appetizer is great. The Parmesan cheese added a great touch. Overall, this place would be great for young crowds. read more

I visited Seoul in the first few weeks of its opening. I tried their Lychee Sangria, Spicy Shrimp Shumai, Garlic Noodles, and Tteok-bokki with ramen. I thought everything that was ordered was good, but everything seemed more of sharable plates rather than actual singular entrees. I think Seoul would be good to visit with a group of friends rather than for families or dates. It transforms into a night-club on the weekends, which is basically the vibes as soon as you enter into the restaurant. New Korean restaurant in PVD and wanted to try it out. Vibe is pretty cool and fun, it's in the Davol Square Plaza and the restaurant is basically one huge ginormous room with lots of tables and seating. Parking is a bit hard but you can find street parking. There is Kpop playing in the background, and the corresponding music videos are playing on several large screens throughout the restaurant. The servers themselves were incredibly nice and friendly and helpful but man are they understaffed! Two servers for the entire restaurant (maybe 30-40 people each at a time each??) seems a bit unfair to them! We did have to wait long in between seeing our server so if you can order right away I'm sure that would help. We needed time to decide. The actual food was ok. The best thing we got were the wings as a shared appetizer, $21 for 12 smallish/medium sized wings. A bit steep in price but the wings were nice and crispy. The medium spicy was NOT very spicy at all but it tasted pretty good. I got the ttokbokki with ramen for my main course and it was ok. I definitely ate it but felt like I was eating straight gochujang for some of the bites. And the onions / green peppers were halfway between raw and cooked. I still ate it but didn't enjoy it thaaat much. My friend got the dolsot bibimbap and was disappointed that the rice was barely crispy at all! So sad! :( It also could've used more seasoning in the rice itself. My friend got the jigae and felt that the flavor was way too overpowering. Also to note there are no complimentary side dishes. Another sad face! :( The food is overall not very authentic and doesn't seem to take much technical skill - but I still appreciated what Seoul Providence was trying to bring to the table. Walking in on a Thursday night it was pretty empty and the restaurant itself was quiet spacious. The server was a younger lady who was very attentive. The food was definitely good which only explains the sudden popularity of this location. Both entrees were really good. If you ever had authentic Korean or Japanese cuisine from your house then please leave the prejudices at the door as this is not home but a taste of what it's like combined/fused in a great way. We also loved the jalapeño bombs so much we forgot to take a picture hahaha. All in all a great place to sit down and chat for lunch or dinner. Would recommend! read more

The place was packed. Apparently they just opened. The staff were great and attentive. It's the day before the 4th and a lot of restaurants were closed - which was a win for me because I was able to find this place. The food came out pretty quick. Only down side was that they ran out of some menus items but that was fine because there's a good assortment here. My wife and I sat at the bar and had the shumai, gyoza, spicy garlic wings, kimchi fried rice w bulgogi, and sashimi salad. Everything was great - the salad looked weird, and we were skeptical, but it was amazing. Definitely pulling back up. They changed nothing from the piano bar that it used to be and it's like sitting in a high school cafeteria rather than an upscale Asian restaurant that their social media makes it seem. The food is mediocre at best and some of it is just downright strange for an Asian restaurant. The service is also lacking. We waited almost 15 minutes for a server once we were seated, another 15 for our drinks once we ordered them, and every plate of food that was brought to our table was brought by a different employee and none of them even knew what each dish was. The food was ehh. The wonton mixer Ella sticks lacked flavor. A little salt would have gone a long way here. The fried chicken entree was just chicken bites and rice. The chicken was well over cooked and very dry. The sauce was tasty but used sparingly. A few tweaks would have helped here. The room is large with K-pop videos playing on multiple screens. My wife and I went into Seoul for lunch yesterday, and we had an amazing experience from the staff, to the food and everything in between! We ordered the shrimp and the gyoza apps to start and proceeded to get the 6 piece spicy chicken wings, Seoul fried rice with added chicken, and the Udon noodle dish with added spicy pork. Everything was SO GOOD! The owner was very attentive and was continuously making rounds to ensure all was running smooth while the wait staff was very attentive to clear empty dishes and refill drinks promptly. We will definitely be going back to try more of their delicious food options! read more

For food we ordered the Tteok-Bokki and I added ramen I would rate 3/10 as it was extremely bland to it and the Jiigoe with white rice which was extremely Spicy even with adding rice to it. I also ordered the gyoza which was good rate 7/10. To start, let me just say that I love Korean food. And my wife might like it even more than I do. So we were very excited to try this new restaurant, as a few friends had already asked us about it. We walked in and it had a clubby vibe with K-pop videos playing on all the walls. OK, I'm down with that. Then we walked to our table only to discover the floors were sticky - like Sunday morning at a frat house. Yuck. Isn't this a new restaurant? Did they already lose respect for their establishment that quickly? We tried to stay positive. The waitress eventually showed up with menus. Strangely, many of the usual suspects for Korean food were missing. No seafood pancake appetizer (pajun). No typical Korean BBQ offerings. Strangely, no Soon Tofu advertised but instead a Jjigae with no tofu option. Quizzical, but again, this could be a cool Korean fusion riff, who knows? We love Denden, and that's fusion. We were willing to be pleasantly surprised. My wife loves bibimbap, especially the stone pot version. So that was a no brainer for her. Kids followed her lead. I got the jjigae. We asked for app recommendations. When the stewardess recommended fries and calamari, we were like, "what?!" Well, she clearly wasn't Korean - but then again, no one else working there was either. We went with the Korean chicken wings and ttukboki. Actually, both apps were rather decent, although the ttukboki was pretty stingy on the rice cakes. Dude, it's make of rice - it's not that expensive. You can afford to put in a little more. Then came the entrees and that's when it all fell flat. The bibimbap was the "worst" my wife has ever had, describing it as "tasteless" despite ordering it with spicy pork. My kids felt likewise, when they got it with beef and pork, respectively. My jjigae was extremely one note. Thankfully, it did look like Soon Tofu. But that's where the authenticity ended. It tasted like they put hot pepper flakes in water and then put some seafood in there and served it to me. Pretty flat with no soul. This is when we started to wonder what was going on. Looking more carefully, all the food was badly anglicized. Like chop suey at a Chinese restaurant (this is not Chinese, in case you didn't know). Koreans generally don't eat long grain rice - at least at restaurants. Short grain is where it's at. However, all our rice was long grain, making the texture of the food weird. Another thing, the whole point of the "stone pot" bibimbap is for the rice to char and crisp on the stone. We got the stone pot with no char (which is the best part). So lots of weirdness to the dishes - like some dude who's never had Korean food decided to make it after reading a book on it. In short, the food was soulless, bland and completely lacked authenticity. I hate to be harsh, but this place was nothing short of a miserable disappointment. Finally, nothing is so sad as getting a fat bill to pay for a bunch of terrible food. I know that other reviewers loved this place. Who knows, maybe they had a clueless replacement chef working Sunday lunch. Don't know. Don't care. Won't be back. And don't say I didn't warn you. read more

As a restaurant the food was a little hit or miss. Took a while to get served even though we were the only ones at the restaurant. Some food was great - the sashimi salad was fantastic and the kimchi fried rice was good (kimchi is very good). The veggie jigae was underwhelming and quite sad - there were 3 pieces of tofu and the soup was thick and sludgy, and came out warm instead of bubbling hot. There were also no veggies. This felt more like a club that serves dinner than a restuarant. It's a vast and low-ceilinged space, completely open, with giant video screens playing K-pop videos. The entrees were well priced but not really meals, the fried chicken came as about a dozen nuggets with a bowl of white rice, nothing more. The bibimbap was stone pot only (in summer!), and had few toppings. Draft beer was a very short pour, at least an inch from the top. Nothing bad to say about the service, it was attentive (maybe too much) and polite. But everyone who works there is under 25 (including a security guard?!) which gives it an odd vibe. At one point I saw the manager instructing one of our servers and waving his arms at our table, the server came over and asked if we needed anything. JV, guys. Maybe it's like a training program for JWU. Seems like their marketing works, and other people seem to like it (tho I gotta say the number of 5-star reviews here and on google so early in their existence is... interesting), but with four other good Korean places downtown not sure why we need this. And minus one star for the name, which is the same one that like half of the Korean restaurants in the world have. Make an effort! Also, the people mentioning "limited" parking: how lazy are you? This is one of the very few places in PVD that even has its own off-street lot. All the other Korean jointsin town are on Westminster St and on Benefit St, where parking is much more scarce (but still easy compared to an actual big city). If it's full just go around the corner where there are a ton of street spots. read more

Omg the food is amazing and so fresh! Being that they are very new it's expected with the slow service! Unfortunately they lack good service with the staff . Don't come on the weekend after 6 they stop serving by 7 due to it becoming a lounge/club after! We had a blast here we ate and stayed for dancing it was so much fun! read more

Unfortunately my review is a one star because I was never able to try the food. My husband and I had been wanting to try this restaurant. We found ourselves downtown in the area and stopped in and we're told there were no tables available. However, within view at least 10 high tops and multiple larger tables were available. We were given the option to eat at the bar which for us unfortunately was not our intent for an evening out. The Facebook page says walk-ins are welcome. Apparently only if you're willing to sit at the bar. . I would also like to add that at the time we walked into the restaurant there were no other patrons waiting to be seated or individuals there for their reservations. I feel as though the decision to not offer us a seat was made arbitrarily and unfortunately in doing so the restaurant is lost costomers who eat out regularly. read more
