Sentry Grill is like a place out of time! It's located in the Sentry Drug Store in downtown Alexandria. The grill itself is a sit down affair with attentive waitstaff and customers who generally seem to come there very regularly. The menu is standard grill fare, and the prices are very responsible. It's a breakfast and lunch place, and the breakfast is classic and extremely tasty. My favorite is the Hashbrown Bowl, which has hashbrowns sausage pieces, eggs, gravy, and cheese all layered in a bowl. There are many other breakfast options, including some impressive omelets. Take a moment to visit a unique local eatery that is still doing it the old-school way. Eat like your parent or grandparents would have, and see why they enjoyed these simple establishments with personable staff and basic food that was is very satisfying.

If you are looking for a good old fashion basic cheeseburger, sentry grill is your place! This diner in a drug store is old school, no frills, no fancy- but good stuff. Fries are extra. Prices are reasonable. Service is quick. Hard to ask for more.

Best breakfast in Alexandria! Great service, feels like an old school 1930s diner. Ms. Joyce was a sweet ol lady who put a smile on everyone's face that placed an order!

Ok so a friend I have been talking about visiting places we have never been before and this has been on the list. Expectation: I expected it to look just like it was. An old fashion dinner and it hit the spot. I was calculated in the means that I planned before I went that I wanted a burger and fries. The size of the burger was a little disappointing but the taste fit the expectation. Buttery bun and mayo flavor. Didn't taste much of the bacon and the grilled onions were good. The fries were plentiful and crispy. The service is where the last star is missing on my review. I'm pretty playful and I visit new places and she was pretty bland. After our lunch I quizzed her at the register about it tenure in our little city and she didn't know and she has been there for about 37 years. So overall it was good for me.

It's a diner inside a drugstore. Think booths and the sound of food sizzling on a flat top grill. The everything omlette has bacon and sausage... And you get it. Great spot for fresh prepared diner food. I wish I saved room for the cobbler.

    Chicken fried steak lunch
    Temo G.

Stumbled into this place for lunch. Amazing! I had the lunch special chicken fried steak. One of the best I've had. The breading was perfectly crispy. The meat was very flavorful as well. The white gravy was on point. The mash potatoes and brown gravy were also delicious. That brown gravy was something special. It was a small spoonful but so full of flavor!

Good food. Good service. It's a diner themed restaurant. Breakfast was great. You must try the pancakes.

I got the special of the day which was baked chicken with rice and gravy and two sides. They guy serving was super sweet to explain to me the ordering process and I had a great conversation with the woman in line before me who comes every week for the Wednesday special. For my sides, I chose the greens and mashed potatoes. Even though I got two starches, it was worth it because the mashed potatoes and gravy were worth having as a main dish! I loved the greens, too, especially since they had all the hot sauce and peppers and vinegar choices you could want. The chicken was fork tender and I left nothing on the plate. I love that they provide each guest a little wrapped package of cornbread and iced cake of the day, too. I will definitely be stopping at Pamela's any time I'm in town.

We both felt really heavy afterward, and my mom even felt sick after eating there. It was just basic diner food and a bit overpriced for something you can get almost anywhere else. However, the cake that comes with the cornbread was my favorite part. SERVICE: The service was fine. It had more of a cafeteria-style vibe, so there isn't much to say about it. AMBIANCE: The inside felt very run down. The bar wasn't even finished and didn't look like it was ever used. Overall, it had a very hole-in-the-wall feel.

This is my favorite coffee shop in Alexandria! I love this shop so much that I took my husband here…read moreas his first stop in Alexandria prior to meeting my parents when he was my boyfriend! Of course I chose somewhere that I felt was the best Alexandria has to offer in an atmosphere where he could enjoy a beverage and have plenty of space and privacy to relax and unwind (he is the first boyfriend I ever took to meet my parents so the pressure was real!) This shop is located in downtown Alexandria with super quirky decor, lots of seating, and several book and game options to pass the time! I also loved the hidden notes in the bookcase that gave book recommendations. I have tried several of their drinks here throughout the years. Most recently I tried one of their seasonal drinks, the reindeer chow but asked them to hold the chow to make it a cookie butter latte with oat milk (wasn't really in the mood for a chocolatey cereal chow meal in my drink but loved the concept)! I also ordered the avocado toast. The latte was perfectly balanced, yet rich and delicious! It was also served at the perfect drinkable temp. The avocado toast was THICK and the avocado and egg topping seemed fresh. It was very filling and a nice dose of healthy protein after all the holiday indulgence! I will ALWAYS come back to this coffee shop when I'm in town especially since it holds a precious memory for me. Also, Check out the background of this shop on their website, such a beautiful dedication!
