I have been working out here for many years, off and on, and haven't had anyone shout "Fatty fatty 2x4" for some time so the place must be effective. They have a smattering of racquetball courts and there are some very, very, very sweaty men in them sometimes. I like to pretend they are just sweaty fish in a giant aquarium and that helps me cope. The locker rooms (at least the guys) is well appropriated and has shaving cream, after shave, etc. and gives off a very "old guard" feel. Upstairs they have a weight room which seems to have a 20:1 guy to girl ratio, which freaks my date out a bit from time to time but no "tough guys" have given her any problems. Check it out, they have an indoor running track. I think that it's 1/10 of a mile so if you use it you get the feel of running around a giant banyan tree. On an island in the middle of the running track (sounds more exotic than it is) they have all the cardio equipment. They have a cute little board that you can use to sign up for equipment and there is this guy named "Cookie" who works out there and my date always changes the i-dot in "Cookie" to a heart when she can, which we find to be a really good time. Give "Cookie" a shout out if you see him; he's a crusty looking, shorter fellow. You'll know what I mean if you see him. The good thing is that there is never much of a crowd here so you can pretty much use whatever equipment you want when you want it. However, here is the highlight of the HOF Fitness Center: you know those fat-shakers that are basically like a big rubber band that you put around your midsection and don't appear to have any fitness value whatsoever but are always featured in workout videos from the 50's? THEY HAVE ONE OF THOSE! We saw a guy using it one day in all seriousness and it's probably one of the best things I've ever seen in my entire life. The facility is fairly large and also has both an indoor and outdoor pool, saunas, whirlpool, tennis and basketball courts and even batting cages. They also have a little restaurant so if you overdid it during the workout you can get your sea legs back. The classes that they offer are great and the teachers I've encountered are all very friendly. I don't have a monthly membership now but when I've been in town they have let me pay a per visit fee ($5, I think?). It's a great place to work out. The $5 is worth it alone if you see someone using that fat-shaker or if you have a "Cookie" sighting.

Everything that the alley had offered to provide went as smooth as I could have asked from shoes sizes available to providing drinks to even the pizza...everything was great. The cost per child was completely reasonable considering they provided shoes, pizzas, drinks, cups, plates, napkins, multiple lanes(w/bumpers) and we didn't have to clean up!!! I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Kolony Lanes to anyone who was trying to find a spot in the area to host a bunch or crazy kids.

Today there were many people here for a Wednesday but it is summer after all so we had the pleasure of seeing many children with their parents enjoying the sights of animals. There was a lot to see and you need to bring your walking and hiking shoes as there was some hills to climb at the zoo. Not actual hills but you had to move to higher ground to get the back of the zoo. What I do have to say is there is plenty of seating along the way. Another thing we noticed is many different things in between the animal sections places for the children to play and enjoy. The set up of this zoo was awesome and very engaging. Unfortunately, many of the animals were sleeping but it was fun looking for them and seeing them in their habitats. Only animal we didn't see was the red panda. I little disappointed but it was ok. Maybe next visit.

When it's hot outside, these animal are inside so you may not actually see them. They have a small indoor aquarium which is nice when it's hot outside. They have some animatronic dinosaurs around the park that sound a lot like the zoo animals. There is a merry go round and a train that kids can ride for a small fee. When we take my grandson, we can walk around the whole zoo in a couple of hours. You can bring your own drinks and food to have a picnic if you want to save money and not buy food here.

Yet, once you find this hidden patch of Earth (a rarity in the overly congested & ugly Tallmadge) you won't be disappointed. Although there aren't any paths running through the park itself, it sits directly next to the paved tow path that connects to Freedom Trail all the way down to Tannery Park in Kent. This park, however, offers large, lushes fields to do as you please. From baseball to 2/3 playgrounds, a large hall (with kitchen) for rentals & multiple pavilions it is a spacious, clean & secluded place to have an event or go for a walk. If you own a dog who has some behavioral issues, I recommend coming here as there's more than enough space to avoid other dog owners. Another nice characteristic is that there is parking directly next to the hall & a few of the shelter houses (if you access them through the housing development that hugs the side of the property) which makes setting up easy. There are also a number of bathrooms and grills for cookouts as well.
