I also have them braid my hair in two French braids each time and they always do a fantastic job. The owner of this salon is virtually ALWAYS available, not because she isn't busy but because she makes time for her clients. She always remembers my name and treats me like royalty when I come in. She's very thorough and also kind to my hair which is great as some stylists will yank and pull on my head which is NOT the move for a girl with very hard to manage 4c hair. I've never had a dedicated hair spot that I frequent and I'm happy to say that I've found a home here. They do it all, ANY type of braids you need, and I'll continue to come here, even if the drive from VA can be brutal sometimes.

I have been visiting this salon for 15+ years and have returned countless times because of the caring, professional, and excellent stylist that I have. For my hair, I get serviced by Antoine (the hair stylist that currently works near the front door)…read more I've been going to him since I've been in high school and he's the only hair stylist that has ever done my hair. He's a great stylist and gets me. He is all about hair integrity and quality hair styling. My hair feels and looks good EVERY TIME I leave his chair. I truly wish I could put him in my pocket. Antoine is also very skilled in hair color and cuts. He's done some really cute color and cuts on my hair and I've also observed him color and cut other customers hair too. Also I received the best hair wash of my life by Nae. (Nae braided my hair once and this is why I was able to experience her skills.) If you get your hair done by Bey (if possible) let him know you would like a wash and hair/scalp massage by Nae. Nae is very focused, mindful and intentional with her hands. She will wash your hair according to your preference. Kindly let her know before she starts washing your hair whether or not you prefer light hands or heavy hands. She will adjust. She truly has a gift. When she started massaging my scalp, it put me in immediate zen mode. Also, when Nae blowdries your hair, she maintains that same mindfulness. I once heard her tell someone that she treats people's hair and scalp the way she wants her hair and scalp treated. I really appreciate that. Nae also does eye lash extensions and she's one of the only people that I will go to for this service. I prefer the natural lash look and Nae is the master of it. Her lash application area is set up in the rear of the salon and their is also a curtain that she closes (that separates the lash application area from the rest of the salon) for privacy. I have a tendency to blink a lot when I am getting lashes applied and Nae was so understanding and accommodating. She even turned on some meditative music for me so that I could relax or go to sleep. Her lash application price point matches her quality of work. I've never been serviced and styled by Bey, but I observe his work on other customers and he is very talented and very popular.

The wash and condition was great and I loved the addition of the steamer. My hair felt super soft and hydrated once it was time to move on to the blow-dry and trim. Janet assessed my hair and gave me tips on things I can do at home to maintain my hair between salon visits. The salon is located in a large plaza, so there's plenty of parking. Unfortunately, she has limited scheduling as well as very specific styles she does. I found Braids by Lizzy thru a google search and while I select vendors this way all the time, I prefer to have a recommendation when it comes to something as costly and time consuming as braids. I was also nervous because I required some guidance. I am currently taking swimming lessons and was looking for some guidance on the best type of braids for water and chlorine. First and foremost, I was amazed that I wasn't directed to an Instagram account, but Braids by Lizzy actually provided an email address and phone number. She very politely responded to my email with options. Over a week she and I went back-and-forth by text. Once I settled on the style, she told me what type of hair I needed and how to book my appointment. When I arrived, she was finishing a client and had me sit in a waiting area. Before I could get comfortable, she had returned to tell me she was ready for me. She carried my belongings to the room and made sure I was comfortable. She told me what she was doing throughout the process. She asked me what I would like to watch while she did my hair. She and I talked and laughed throughout the process, which was very nice considering I was getting small bohemian knotless braids and would be there a while. The process was so smooth and pleasant, it did not seem like I was there for 6 hours (which I was informed of at booking). Upon completion Bisi gave me instructions on how to maintain my hair, products to use , answered any additional questions I had, and made sure I was happy with the final results. My hair looks great! I recommended her to both my daughter and girlfriend. And highly recommend Braids by Lizzie to anyone who is looking to have a personable, yet professional experience, and leave and leave looking great!

***Review is for facials by Kayleigh…read more Mixed feelings about Mixed Elements. I visited Mixed Elements because I saw a deal for a facial that included O2 and LED. It sounded exciting. Located off Rt 3 in the same plaza as Lash Moi and Namaste Indian restaurant. Booking an appointment was pretty straightforward, and I felt fortunate to find availability this week. What was good? Plenty of parking and a cute storefront (jewelry, hand masks, bags, etc. Gave a sort of co-op feeling as there is also a hairdresser on site. Areas for improvement: Talk to the client, explain what will be involved in the facial, and advise them at every step. For example, when I put on a mask, you might feel some tingling. Probably the worst thing was this was a "dry facial". I inquired about this at the end, and she said she "wet her fingers and used a warm towel because she was concerned about my lashes." This was substandard service at best. There was mask residue on my neck and in my hairline. No lip balm at the conclusion of the service. Did not mention after-care instructions, whether sunscreen was applied, no lip balm or hand massage. Not sure if it is because she is untrained, unfamiliar with other skin types, or didn't care. I will not be returning.
