Faye and Joyce walked me through it and Faye did an amazing job. But y'all. A stylist called out sick. The Friday before CHRISTMAS. And they did NOT turn anyone away. Everybody who had an appointment walked out with hair slayed. Yes, we had to be patient. But we were serviced with an abundance of apologies and smiles and jokes in a pleasant atmosphere. I had an evening appointment so when I walked in, they had been juggling clients all day. I'm sure they were exhausted but it never showed. I really appreciate the ladies who run and work at this shop. Their authenticity, skill, honesty cannot be quantified and I haven't found another shop in the area with this much juice. This is the best sew-in I've had in a long time. It looks like it grew out of my own scalp! Rita did my hair and she was very sweet and fun to talk to. She listened to my concerns about not wanting a weave that's too tight, and she checked in with me throughout the process to make sure I was comfortable. The website is decent but really needs to be updated. A detailed FAQ section would save potential clients a lot of time. Both of these issues are easily fixable, though. Parking was usually fine & stress-free and it's on a major bus line. I've been getting my hair done by Claudette for several years now and for the most part it's been great. I've always gotten a ton of compliments on my hair, and I've shared her business with numerous friends, sorority sisters, and even strangers in the grocery store. My hair has consistently looks great and for the most part our appointments have been timely, which I greatly appreciate! Ever since then, I've noticed that my hair doesn't last as long, and sometimes the crochets slip out, especially in the front. This last time, a little over a week after My appointment, two the crochets slipped out in the front. I sent her a quick text to let her know and showed her a picture, with the intention of trying to figure out what changes we can make to the braiding structure so that it doesn't happen again. I was very surprised when she sent me a note saying that she would refund my money and asking me to find another stylist, noting that she had given me several discounts in the past. I told her that my intention in notifying her was to see how we could resolve the issue together, not to receive any additional discounts. I also told her that I did not want a refund. I want to acknowledge that she had previously provided me discounted services after she had to redo a set of crochets that she had done about week prior. However, the most recent discount she offered me was because she was 4 HOURS LATE for my appointment, and I wasn't able to reschedule because I was flying to New Orleans for a wedding the next morning. At no point did I ever ask Claudette for any of discounts she offered, and was prepared to pay full price for all of my services if asked. I was under the impression that these discounts were an act of good faith and an extension of professional courtesy for my inconvenience. However, it's a shame that unfounded suspicion and/or a bruised ego has tarnished an otherwise good professional working relationship.
