Always helpful & pleasant, also because it is part of the village store, the post mistress knows everyone. A pleasure to go in there, the way shops used to be. read more

It took me ages today to find the post office in Brecon! Stupid thing was, I had been there before…read morebut I just couldn't remember where it was. Well, it was well hidden, actually tucked away behind the tills inside the Co-op supermarket!! Once I found it, all went well and I posted some parcels. The member of staff who served me was very friendly and pleasant. A handy PO if you want the Co-op as well, otherwise a bit out of the way and a couple of blocks from the shopping streets.

Sparsely decorated inside with little extras the staff are really friendly and helpful and always give you a service with a smile. As you would expect with a local post office the branch rarely gets busy and often you can walk up to the counter and get immediately served a huge plus point. Car Parking is available at the rear of the post office but I have had trouble finding a space to park. If you are in the area and need to post a letter or a parcel don't bother going to the city centre but give this local post office your custom it would be a shame to see it go.

When the man snatched the parcel from the lady who worked there, I've never felt so awkward didn't know here to look and then he throws the parcel on the counter. This is my last post office review, I promise! I just like them. I never really realised this…read moreobsession before now (I'm currently on post office review number 25). This one is particularly friendly and quaint. This is a classic little post office that sells precisely everything that you want it to. By no means as busy as the post office in the centre of town, this is a great one to pop into if you want to avoid the queues and spend your afternoon doing something productive instead. There is something British and charming about any post office, I think. In this age we live in swiftly moving towards a paperless society, then maybe one day these premises will, all around the country, become obsolete. Perhaps they'll just be empty brick shells that sell stamps to collectors and pencil sharpeners (although only artists would buy them). Balls of fluff will gather in the corners. But no! We cannot let this happen, we must support our local establishments. Without the postal system, how would housewives have affairs? How would charities give you free pens? We would all have boarded up little slots in our front doors. Support! Support! Support!!

Ystradfellte is the Brecon Beacon's Waterfall country and its also were I grew up so its a place I…read moreknow well and love very much. Its a place that a lot of people in Wales know of just because of the fall and the caving complexes. The most famous of the waters is Sgwd Y Eira. If you have seen the advertising posters for Brecon Water this is the waterfall in the picture. Its a fairly easy walk apart from the steps as you get near and its one of very few waterfalls that you can actually walk underneath, though do expect to get sprayed a bit. I personally prefer some of the walks around the other falls which are much quieter in the summer and offer refreshing pools to swim in or picnic by. In all my years of living here I have never got bored of walking the area, its different all the time. Just a note to vistors the two main car parks charge a daily fee and a national parks ranger goes between them. If you want to avoid the fee park in the village itself and walk a bit further, tempting as it may be to pull up on the verges near the car parks I have seen so many break in's that you really are risking it a bit.
