As well as the usual post office services,there is a gift shop attached,selling everything from cards to jewellery boxes!! The gift shop is jammed full of beautiful goodies to suit all tastes with everything reasonably priced and goods displayed beautifully.At this time of the year they stock some lovely Christmas goods,not just the usual tinsel and baubles but some unusual hard to find decorations!! This one is particularly friendly and quaint. This is a classic little post office that sells precisely everything that you want it to. By no means as busy as the post office in the centre of town, this is a great one to pop into if you want to avoid the queues and spend your afternoon doing something productive instead. There is something British and charming about any post office, I think. In this age we live in swiftly moving towards a paperless society, then maybe one day these premises will, all around the country, become obsolete. Perhaps they'll just be empty brick shells that sell stamps to collectors and pencil sharpeners (although only artists would buy them). Balls of fluff will gather in the corners. But no! We cannot let this happen, we must support our local establishments. Without the postal system, how would housewives have affairs? How would charities give you free pens? We would all have boarded up little slots in our front doors. Support! Support! Support!!

The church hall in which it…read moreis based has been renovated and modernised is hoping to make the most of the tourists by having a little cafe. For all us locals it is a real help. A large part of the community is made up of farmers who already live a fair way out. There are also a few older people in the village and its somewhere we all use at times to sort out basic things and get our mail sent. They also have a little store so you get basics that you may need or stock up on the sweets. Its very much part of the community and you can meet some real characters. Shame its only currently open for 2 hours a day.

This post office is the one to go to if you want some real post office business - parcels, euros,…read morecoop banking etc. Some Post Offices are run by old ladies who are uncannily interested in just what you are sending; some are run by old men who you really really hope will stay on that side of the glass. This one is staffed by three highly pleasant and efficient ladies who know what they are about. They do have a smattering of birthday cards, pencil sets and those sort of things that you wonder why they exist but the whole point of this one is what the efficient and not-queuing (except at lunchtime) post office important posting stuff.

She got a chuckle out of the people in the queue behind me. But she was wrong, i didn't jump a red light and she was wrong to try embarrass me like that. I just ended up taking business elsewhere. Also! a time previous to this, i took a large parcel in to ask how much it would cost to send internationally. "£15!" i was told, listed and sold it on ebay. Came back to post it and the price just magically leapt up to £33!?!... Brilliant! thanks a bunch!!
