We both had full time jobs and needed someone to take care of my Mom during her recovery. After talking to a neighbor about our situation she recommended a come called Homewell care services. We called and Rob and Chandra came out and met with us and they were very compassionate and showed real concern for our situation. They went into depth about what would meet our needs and then they went into depth about my Motherd needs. They made it all about us and not about the money. And when we did get to cost we were amazed how affordable it was to have some one in our home taking care of our Mom when we couldn't and all if their caretakers our put through a thorough background check and license ,bonded and insured. My Mom loved the caretakers they provided and it got to the point that my Mom was asking when is Mary coming again, We not only got a caretaker, my Mom got a new friend. If you find the need to have someone come in to assist recovery for a loved one or just someone to provide companionship Chandra and Rob are the ones to go to. They are life savers and I highly recommend thier service to anyone who is looking for a first class service from people who really care. Thank you HomeWell Care for being there in our time of need. I was referred to HomeWell Care Services in Lake Forest and spoke with the owner, Ines Eisner, MD, PhD, who immediately grasped our situation and offered a viable plan. I was impressed by her professionalism, knowledge, and sensitivity and felt like I was speaking with a personal friend. Ines visited my husband at rehab, and then met me at our home to inspect the setting and offer suggestions to facilitate recovery. On the morning of my husband's discharge, Ines met us at the Whitehall and introduced us to our lovely new caregiver, Noreen, whom I soon referred to as our "Guardian Angel." Noreen moved into our home for two weeks, assisting my husband with all of his needs on the road to full recovery while simultaneously helping me around the house. Rehabilitation impacts not only the patient, but the entire family. Noreen was invaluable, maintaining a very positive and cheerful attitude -- she was tireless and couldn't do enough. We will be sad to see her leave, but plan to stay in touch. I highly recommend this agency.

BEWARE!! Terrible management and unreliable staff. Feel free to contact me before you choose this…read moreagency. I have stories, emails and voice mails of unprofessionalism by both management and caregivers. Using this agency caused my family extreme stress - on top of the stress of caring for an elder needing 24/7 care. I would NEVER recommend this agency.

My family used Right at Home in 2022. It has taken me until now to write a review because I just did not want to think about how bad their service was. We are in a much better place now, and I feel compelled to warn others. Right at Home was truly awful- no communication. I'm not sure how they even had clients. We had to call them to find out who was coming for my mom. I can't recall EVER receiving a phone call informing me, I always had to call them. Schedules that should have been known and planned for became unnecessary emergencies because of their poor communication. My mom very much liked one of their caregivers - she was wonderful - so we were tied to the agency. That it the only reason we stuck with them as long as we did. The caregiver was pregnant, and we had to tell them! They claimed they were unaware. Right at Home had zero communication with us regarding her replacement until WE asked them if they had a plan. Their staff made us feel like they were only concerned about the money. I truly felt like they would just throw whoever they could on the schedule and they did not have as many caregivers as they said they did when we signed up with them. Two of their caregivers abandoned my mom. I never heard an apology. When I contacted their owner, Matt, regarding an issue, I got no follow thru other than an email thanking me for my communication and a promise to be in touch. Never heard from the guy again. They simply placed whoever they could find with my mom, taking no consideration as to how she would react to the person. Just horrible service. If you are a caregiver - don't sign up with them. They will treat you like crap and lie to you. I absolutely DO NOT recommend Right at Home. We've since used a different agency - and I can confidently say that Right at Home does not deserve to be in business. Don't trust your loved one in their care.

Four yrs ago my 96 yr old Mother suffered broken ribs & a punctured lung from a fall in her home…read more North West Community Hospital recommended we put her in an aftercare for a month. The social worker explained there is nothing governing these places so it is important to go visit them in person before choosing. My brother and his wife live in Libertyville, IL. They had experience with Manor Care because his wife's mother had been a patient the year before. My Mother stayed at Manor Care aprox. 2 months. It was a wonderful experience. She was well cared for. The staff was incredible- caring, attentive, patient. The facility was well maintained. They offered simple but ever so important services like a hair salon. I can't say enough positive things about Manor Care in 2017. Flash forward to Manor Care 2021. My Mother had another fall and went there for 2 months. Nothing is the same. Mind you it's Covid Pandemic and I have taken that into consideration. But as of today I would not put my Mother back in Manor Care. This time around the staff was , let's just say that they need to hire people that have experience with old people. The current staff has no patience. They don't think helping a patient change their compression socks is part of their job.. My Mother weighs all of 96 lbs. She takes pride in her appearance. She's starting to get confused. They didn't care. They gave her too much miralax and she had an accident. They were not about to help her change. What made this so much worse was 1st the 2 week quarantine. My Mother was vaccinated as was my brother and myself. Even after the 2 week quarantine we were not allowed in person visits. We could go stand outside her window and talk to her on the phone.. The receptionist let my brother go inside in person one time. That was huge! I hope I don't get that person in trouble for writing this. But it made a big difference in my Mother's mental state. Due to covid there is no hair salon service, which to an older lady is so important... I cannot stress that enough. There is no Doctor for the patients or family to talk to . My Mother was in severe pain. NWC Hospital prescribed pain meds before they released her.. Manor Care said they didn't know about any meds and there is no Doctor there to handle this type of issue. My Mother takes a sleeping pill every night. Otherwise she cannot sleep, is up all night , has night terrors etc. Again, Manor Care didn't have any instructions to give her anything. Just trying to get ahold of my Mother's nurse(s) was next to impossible. I asked for a call back at their convenience, multiple times. I could not speak to anyone when I called no matter what time of the day. My Mother is not a big eater. She lost 13 lbs during this last stay. Four years ago Manor Care offered a Menu with choices for all 3 meals. Not anymore. My Mother can't afford a 13 lb weight loss. Manor Care is a family owned company. To the 2 brothers that run it: Please look into fixing these type of issues. My Mother just had another fall today and is in the hospital. It looks like she will need to be put in another aftercare. Manor Care is conveniently located 10 blocks from my brother's house. I dread the thought of my Mother going back there. Manor Care is very expensive. For the amount of money they get per patient - the level of care and service is absolutely terrible. I understand that Seniors can be difficult. Laws affect what the staff can and cannot do. I'm grateful my Mother made it home. I'm grateful she wasn't abused or hurt by the staff, which happens all the time in some of these places. They get away with it by paying off the families with a gag order settlement. It gets swept under the rug and the facilities aren't held accountable. Make sure you research any place before you choose one.
