While some of these can be tacky-looking, some stores offer a unique selection of things you can be proud of bringing home with you. And it seems every year we do. The interior of the store is pretty crowded. It's not the kind of store you want kids to be wandering around since there are some breakable items. One of the favorite things they have, which my wife likes, are these long sleep T-shirts that have moose and bear themes with silly headings like "Bear Hug" or "Moose Be Bedtime". I always get a shirt there for my wife. As for the guys, they have an assortment of boxer shorts for bedtime. The best my wife could do was a picture of a skunk on back of the shorts that reads "It wasn't me." There are some stuffed animals and décor items too. I've come to like seeing this place each time we do Eagle River. The owner is an older gentleman who always has a smile on his face and tells jokes to you as you're coming up to pay at the front counter. He's a real nice guy and another reason I like going in this place each year, which is why I always tell him, "See you same time next year".

Another favorite place for us to stop along the way when visiting Eagle River. Animals And More…read moreoccupies the space that once was an old-fashioned movie theatre called the Eagle, as the building still retains its old overhanging facade, though the lights have been removed. Instead of the movie title, the sign reads "Animaland" in colorful letters. The interior has been converted into a store specializing in a wide variety of unusual stuffed animals and toys. There's also some interesting books for kids and some fancy model cars that grownups who appreciate classic cars would love. They have a "Build-a-Bear" like stuffing machine for making your own stuffed animal. However, the place is not a rip-off or way overpriced like the name-brand DIY stuffed animal shop I mentioned. This is a family-run business and the people behind the counter are as nice as can be. My older son found a book on tornadoes and hurricanes that he picked out and my younger son found a stuffed turtle that compelled him to rub its plush shell with his hand and suck his thumb simultaneously. They also have these really long sleep shirts my wife likes. Her favorite shirt depicts a bear wrapped around from front to back that reads "Bear Hug". No place else carries some of these products. One of the pictures shows an entire wall displaying shoes, but they are no longer sold. This store is the best place to get your Three Lakes emblazoned merchandise such as mugs, clothing, and home décor. I like how most of the items have a high quality look to them as opposed to a souvenir look. I got a nice mug that has the Three Lakes Chain depicted on it. Matching coasters are available as well. The items tend to change so it's a good idea to check back in a few months to see if anything is new or if you see something you like be sure and snap it up. Candles, soap, and handbags are available as well. The children's area is not as extensive as what is pictured; however, it is available. The shop always smells so good! The restroom is delightful featuring a full length mirror.
