She took in that goat and his brother and I'm certain that they are now living their best lives. All the animals are super well-cared for. With the support and devotion of her family, Wendy is one such anomaly. We found Wendy quite much through word of mouth and with all the accolades she was given we knew that this was the place we wanted Pugsley to live out his life. You see he had isolated himself in the corner of our garage and almost refused to come out. We provided everything he needed, heating and cooling, good food and the best fruits we could find. Honestly, I probably wouldn't have come out either. But we contacted Wendy but she didn't have a shelter for Pugsley to live in. But she didn't give up on him and neither did we. She allowed us to pick a location on her property with the understanding that we would buy a erect a shelter and build a fence just in case Pugsley had a hard time adjusting to the other animals. So we did and now he has a wonderful new . We also heard that he met Christina Hoguiler, a female potbelly, and although it didn't sound like love at first sight there maybe hope for a beautiful friendship. Thanks again Wendy for loving our Pugsley and all animals!

I've read a lot of the reviews on here and some made me hesitant but after going there I think BARCS is an amazing organization considering the circumstances! Many of the negative reviews don't seem to understand what goes on behind the scenes. BARCS is directly connected to Baltimore City Animal Control and thus has to take in EVERYTHING they are brought. Despite being the largest animal shelter in Maryland, space is limited. To save as many lives as possible the main goal is to get animals adopted and out of the shelter so they can care for another animal in need. BARCS is a nonprofit and runs mostly off of donations. The fact that pet support even exists as a department is incredible! They do so much for the Baltimore community and truly try their best to keep families together. Please keep in mind that BARCS is underfunded and understaffed. If you see a staff member taking a break, please be considerate and think about how mentally and physically exhausting it is to work in a place where every day is an SPCA commercial. BARCS also depends heavily on volunteers. Working with animals can be unpredictable. Thank you to everyone who enters those doors with a good attitude!

We had one of those nightmare days when you take someone you love to the vet, and leave without…read morethem... I couldn't stop crying. So I started perusing the Barc's website, looking for someone new to sidetrack me, and to love. Once we were at the shelter, I let Jeremy pick out our new family members. He wanted an orange moron, since we've never had one of those, and a kitten... you go back and check out the three rooms of cages, write down who you want to meet, and they call you back to open the cages so you can handle the cat... see how it reacts, see how you react. First cage, first room, this skinny little tortie, with giant ears locked eyes with Jeremy and it was love at first sight. We named her Mazikeen Star... she's been with us for a week now and she's living up to her demon name in the best way possible. She's a snuggler, under the blankets, purring her ass off, happy as can be, lovebug. She's also already earned the name MaziQueen, because her two pound ass thinks she's in charge and isn't afraid to let our other two cats know it. Then, to complete the set, Jeremy also decided on the last cat, in the last cage. He's a orange and white fluffy loveable sweetheart. He was also sick. They tried to talk us out of taking him because he was being medicated and needed eye drops, but Jeremy started pouting and they relented. We still had to wait until the next day to pick them up because they needed to be spayed and neutered. Yesterday we took Cooper Sharp (our Creamsicle boy) to the vet and ran up a $500+ bill because he was still so congested it was clearly difficult for him to breathe and the medicine the shelter gave us had run out several days before. He sneezed bloody mucus all over Jeremy and so we took him in for an emergency appointment. They sent us home with nose drops, two different meds, and a bunch of other stuff. He has a respiratory infection, which is highly contagious. So much so that the vet and tech wore disposable gowns while handling him so they wouldn't infect the other patients. And they instructed us to wait outside until they had an exam room ready so we wouldn't be in the waiting room. When we left, we went through a side door. He's doing better today, and I hope by the time he finishes this round of meds, he'll be better than he ever was. I'm looking forward to spoiling these guys and giving them the best lives ever.

I am 100% sure they kidnapped my cat from my community and hostage her for donation and selling as a business rather than a non profit organization. Pure intention matters! I have donated to multiple organizations monthly base, raising fund for good purpose, money is not a problem for me. However, I don't want to reward bad behaviors. The missing time for my cat and the one they posted online matches and the very detailed stripes pattern matches. It's questionable that one employee said she from North Carolina, another one said she from West Virginia. I have my cat since she was born, I can recognize this cat from eye contact. Well, if you know your children, you know them by the spirit, right? I sent them many details to JUST take a look, they refused. It's not built to help ppl or animals at all. I will show how my cat look like and how sick she is now in their foster home. I'm deeply saddened and worried about her. She is territorial as a cat does. She has been a happy cat in her own home, wtf they think this is a rescue. Now I have to either kiss their ass or be assertive to fight against this negativity just to get her rescued from these horrible ppl. F that! If they don't practice as ethical as it should be, this is a big big issue! I put the photos of how my cat looked before and how she looks now in their foster homes(one with name caption) I am seriously furious and frustrated about this. If they couldn't give me an explanation why they made it so difficult to meet the cat. I have to say I will use my popularity and influence to the extreme to make things right!!!

Let's say the police or aspca shuts down a Maryland puppy mill they find in the area and the pound or shelters are FULL and will euthanize any new animals they receive. (including puppies) INSTEAD... Just puppies purchases them gives them veterinary care and ensures their health to give puppies a better chance...HYPOTHETICALLY SPEAKING... then maybe all the assumptions and accusations about puppies coming from the mills are true. BUT I don't see how this business is the villain because where there is demand there will eventually be supply. If someone is a breeder full time and they sell puppies and make a living off of it they are somehow better than a business (freestanding store) that does the same? If you don't want tp support this business then, well, don't! but don't write crappy reviews if you don't have your facts in order because then YOU BECOME the hypocrite because you never received services from this business. ****Health guarantee was great, two healthy dogs, great caring staff who were sad and happy to see me adopt my puppy. Customer loyalty discounts are applicable and yes, puppies that that haven't been house trained or bathed for the first time are very very stinky! ALL animals have body odor even HUMANS!

Well, it's true when they say you can never go back. The Hard Times cafe was destroyed and replaced by a bank, and the Just Puppies is a sad, depressing shell of what it once was. You were once able to open up any cage and take out a puppy. They you could walk it over to a small play area and have it run about for a bit. Or if the rooms were filled, you could simply hold the puppy in your arms. Then they locked up all the cages and you needed permission to pick up a puppy. Now, you need to give your photo ID to handle a puppy. The end result is that the puppies are getting petted and handled a lot less often, leaving them whimpering and longing for attention. Add to this the dog pee on the floor around the cages and you're left with a pretty depressing place (and depressing yelp review!). Whatever was once good about this place is long gone. Now it's just a urine-soaked puppy mill.
