I'm torn between the assessment of 2 and 3 stars. (3 being an average, but still positive, rating -- I don't think I can because my cons certainly outweigh the positives) There, it's settled. The hubs and I visited the Civic Center for the first time to attend a Mardi Gras ball. The place is HUGE, but extremely (severely and sorely) outdated. (Pretty sure that's why the city is soon tearing it down!) The restrooms were flooded halfway through the night, the restroom doors were hit or miss on locks, and don't even get me started on the shoddy AC-- you're cool in one room, literally burning up in the next. I did love looking down on the ball's main dance floor from the 2nd floor seating. Oh, and there was plenty parking -- am I reaching now?! Sorry. Did it serve its purpose? Yes! Would I be missing out if I never went back? No, not at all! Overall, it's a shell of an old building (that once was, maybe) that's workable for a few hours (before the flooding), and that's about all I've got on the Mobile Civic Center. I will say that the Mystics of Time is a great job of fixing it up and decorating the venue for their ball!

This is an epic (seriously, Hollywood level production) Christmas light show paired to the holiday music streaming on the radio of your car, and Hank Aaron Stadium knocked it out of the park! (See what I did there? Lol!) The show, the ease of navigating the layout, the directions, the innovation, the LIGHTS (my God -- the beautiful lights), the song selection, the comfort of enjoying from inside your vehicle and not freezing to death outside -- I loved all 20ish minutes of it! Everything was fabulous and like nothing I (nor the hubs) had every witnessed before! Mobile definitely knows how to put on a Christmas Light Show, and if you know like I know-- you'll grab your kid(s), grab $6 bucks per head over 3 yrs old, and get down to the stadium before the CNOL season ends. Well, although many (or most) aspects of my original review still ring true, I'm pleased to announce that a few changes have been made to make ol' Ladd Peebles a bit more palatable in 2 years' time. The parking situation is the same, but thankfully I've been delivered and now have a parking pass. Concessions are the same from what I hear as I haven't made a purchase since 2016. Now that I'm older, I do my very best to avoid the call of overpriced processed cheese (reformed concessions nachos lover here) and trans fats. I digress. But what has taken a turn for the better is the overall stadium itself. Some things have been patched and repainted, and it's looking more like a stadium this season. Not sure if the recent press and the threat of South's new on campus stadium has had anything to do with it-- just kidding, that's it! But, we'll take it. Ladd's an old staple for the football community in Mobile and beyond. (Bear Bryant coached a game here, right?!) And while no one's confusing it for the Mercedes Benz Superdome, it certainly serves its purpose!

Parking is limited and often you must park in yards or church parking lots and walk 2 to 4 blocks, but it is not bad. The locals and churches charge $5 to $10/car. I don't recommend the hot dogs and the food choices are limited. The stadium has aluminum bench seating so bring something to sit on to minimize the pain.

There isn't a bad seat in the Mitchell Center. Anywhere feels like you are on top of the action with a perfect view. To be honest, I had court-side tickets to basketball for two seasons, and I ended up preferring the lower bowl seats over those. It was sometimes hard to see all the action when sitting courtside, but the lower bowl seats were inexpensive and gave a perfect view. Also, I was invited to set in the box seats for being a Yelp Elite member recently, and it was such a FUN experience. Free food, great seats, and even free shirts! South Alabama & Yelp is such a good combo.

The bathrooms are always clean, considering the area and circumstances. The showers are big and the water temperature/pressure is great. The trails are maintained and kept in great condition. The awning area keeps you protected from the weather conditions, whatever they may be. They have the long row aluminum seats that will feel like any high school football stadium you go to, so nothing good or bad there. The huge fans keep things a little cooler. I'd guess coming here for an actual rodeo/equestrian show would be fun. The race uses the food court area and has always provided us with ice, cold beverages, and got foods so I'm sure it's the same for their traditional events.

That was bad enough, but as soon as the ceremony was over, this dipstick put a song on with the bass so loud, my chest even vibrated. I was in town from Los Angeles to visit my Dad over Memorial Day weekend, so I bought tickets for…read moreus to go to a Biloxi Oyster Shuckers minor league baseball game, since sports is one of the few things we have in common LOL. I've been to a bunch of different MLB stadiums/games and even one college baseball park, but never minor league, so I was excited to go to this. And we had such a wonderful time! LAYOUT I highly recommend buying your tickets ahead of time or getting to the park early. We arrived just before first pitch, and there was a long line to buy tickets. Since we bought ahead, we basically got in right away, just went straight to the ticket scanners with no wait. Since it was a 1pm game, I'd made sure to buy seats in the last row on the 1st base side, because that's where the shade hits first. Sure enough the shade reached our seats around 2:30pm. All the seats there have great views and easy access to restrooms and food/drink. The stadium's entire concourse is lined with a great variety of food and drink vendors, and since it's a smaller stadium, only once or twice a few lines got maybe 8 customers deep, but even so you still have a great view of the game while you're in line! And I never waited for a restroom. PEOPLE There were tons of people working the vendors as well as ushers helping people find their seats and such. The ushers were wearing orange shirts, so they were easy to find, and they were all smiles and very friendly. And all the fans in the stands were also really friendly and having a good time. Lots of groups of friends, younger and old, and some families too. We also happened to go for a dog-friendly game, with people sitting out in the right field lawn with their dogs, and they all seemed to be having a great time. They'd occasionally walk to the concourse for food/drink/restrooms, some just to take a break in the shade, and all the dogs were so nice and cute and seemed to be enjoying themselves :) MASCOTS I debated docking a star from this review for this (just kidding) but I was disappointed the mascot was not an oyster, or even a shucker, since they are the Biloxi Oyster Shuckers. Instead it is a seagull, and there are definitely a lot of seagulls in the area, but I feel like this is a missed opportunity, since there are already so many other bird mascots in sports. Maybe the seagull can have an oyster friend? Anyway, the seagull mascot named Schooner was at the game of course and was quite present throughout, and he/she also seemed very available going through the stands and around the concourse for anyone who wanted to interact or take a photo. I always love an accessible mascot (why are they so rare?), so this was nice to see! Also, there was a race on the field at one point between 3 people, dressed up as a potato, corn, and crawfish - These mascots didn't hang around too much after their race but enough that they took photos with some people before eventually heading out. PARKING I wish they had a good official parking garage, but at least there are a couple small local lots, plus the Beau Rivage across the street. Still, my father cannot get around very easily, so I dropped him off at the stadium while I went to go park the car, and then after the game, I ran to get the car and drove it up to him at the stadium. So if you are going with a wheelchair or someone who is otherwise not very mobile, you may want to plan for this. The stadium has an elevator in its northwest corner (behind home plate) that we used, and the staff there were very nice and helpful. While the team lost the game, we still had a really enjoyable time, and I'm really glad we went. It's definitely something fun to do, and I'd go to games all the time if I lived in the area. And it's SO much more affordable than going to an MLB game, from price of entry to concessions. I highly recommend going to a game here!

Parking is easy and cheap. The ticket prices are reasonable. The Shuckers have a lot of giveaways and family nights and fireworks every Friday. The atmosphere is very friendly and local and laid-back. We go whenever we can and we always have a good time. The food is actually pretty good. Of course it's a little pricey, because it's ballpark food. Lots of food to choose from - hot dogs (of course), pizza, chicken, BBQ, nachos, popcorn, the usual stuff you expect to see. Lots of beer options, draft beers or cans, in whatever variety you like.
