You never know where you'll end up, huh?! I wrote a review of Ladd 2 years ago, not knowing that this would be my home stadium 2 years later. Funny how life works! Well, although many (or most) aspects of my original review still ring true, I'm pleased to announce that a few changes have been made to make ol' Ladd Peebles a bit more palatable in 2 years' time. The parking situation is the same, but thankfully I've been delivered and now have a parking pass. Concessions are the same from what I hear as I haven't made a purchase since 2016. Now that I'm older, I do my very best to avoid the call of overpriced processed cheese (reformed concessions nachos lover here) and trans fats. I digress. But what has taken a turn for the better is the overall stadium itself. Some things have been patched and repainted, and it's looking more like a stadium this season. Not sure if the recent press and the threat of South's new on campus stadium has had anything to do with it-- just kidding, that's it! But, we'll take it. Ladd's an old staple for the football community in Mobile and beyond. (Bear Bryant coached a game here, right?!) And while no one's confusing it for the Mercedes Benz Superdome, it certainly serves its purpose! read more

Ladd Peebles is a mid-sized stadium that is home to the South Alabama Jags. It also hosts a bowl game and Senior Bowl. Parking is limited and often you must park in yards or church parking lots and walk 2 to 4 blocks, but it is not bad. The locals and churches charge $5 to $10/car. I don't recommend the hot dogs and the food choices are limited. The stadium has aluminum bench seating so bring something to sit on to minimize the pain. read more

Ladd Stadium is a stadium with amble seating. The parking isn't all that great at the stadium. For University of South Alabama games you must have a parking pass in order to park on the grounds otherwise you have to find some where to park on the nearby streets. For USA games they have a strict rule about things you can bring in the stadium. No purses allowed so you can only bring a clutch 4.5x5. My clutch had a strap so they said it was a purse and I had to walk a mile back to my car to put my "clutch" in my car (so aggravating). The restrooms are cleaner than other stadiums but still not great. Overall it was ok. read more

Had a great time at the game. Appreciated the additional security to ensure no weapons are brought in. Clean atmosphere, great seating! Parking was relatively easy! Didn't order any food at the concession stand but they have your typical nachos, chips, hot dogs, etc. read more

I have a lot fun every time I'm here. It's a well-built stadium and pleasantly landscaped. The parking situation is good enough. There are plenty of restrooms and they are clean. The stadium was great, but there wasn't any organization with parking, nor entering the game. It was chaotic!!! But we enjoyed the game.

Major disappointment. City of Mobile was clearly unprepared for volume for the first sell out in University of South Alabama history. Had to wait over an hour for bus ride to stadium and missed kickoff. Arrived more than halfway through first quarter. Heard many say waited longer and arrived later. Not a good first impression when every communication was no parking available near stadium and best option was park at mall and pay to ride shuttle. Second strike was before first half was over all concession stands on the East side ran out of ice and cold bottle drinks. They had ample bottles of water because they began selling directly from the pallets of the warm bottles. Plenty of cold beer on hand but was probably not the best idea in the 95+degree heat. Only option was to go to West side concessions. Third strike after the game went to were shuttle dropped off to be told that pick up was on the opposite end of stadium. After essentially circling the stadium arrived to find departure line just as long as pre-game (roughly 3 blocks or more). Only positive was took about 30 minutes (obviously something done differently than pre-game) to load and didn't have to wait in direct hot sun as did previously. Not likely to make return trip again. read more

The stadium itself is acceptable, afterall you are there to watch a game and there really isn't a bad seat in the place. If you have a problem with bleacher seating you might not enjoy it. Parking is the major problem with this venue. They have allowed it to get out of control. It is an unsafe atmosphere. Everyone brings a grill and their popup and music of choice and take up three parking spaces. They need to get this under control. After the game it is one big free for all party. You can't walk back to your car for the drunk revelers everywhere and people walking in from outside to attend. My advice is don't go here. If you do, park somewhere else and take a shuttle and if you want to park at the stadium come at least 5 or 6chours in advance read more

Well, this place probably doesn't deserve much better than 1 or 2 stars, based strictly on the venue. But the history of the place, and the people who have played here is extensive, and that's worth something (at least in my book). It's not located in the best area of town, kinda hard to get to, parking is awful, seating not so great, but an incredible percentage of the NFL have played at least one game here. It plays host to the Senior Bowl each year, as well as the home stadium for the University of South Alabama Jaguars football team, and several high school games and playoffs... oh, and also the GoDaddy Bowl (or whatever they're calling it this year). South Alabama will probably be better served to have an on-campus football stadium in the future, but it's hard to deny the history of this venue. read more

I have a love/hate relationship with Ladd. Mobile has been my home for many years and I love Mobile. This stadium is so dated and run down... the sound system is pretty terrible. The bathrooms and pretty gross. The field is decent and the tailgate area is decent, but the stands are tough. The concession areas are rough, and it's not in the best part of town. I would love for Mobile to put some money into the stadium and try and get some real SEC teams to come play. read more

Mobile does a great job with the GoDaddy and Senior Bowls leading up to the game but once the teams and fans get to Ladd Stadium, it all ends. The parking, surrounding neighborhood, concessions, bathrooms, locker rooms and scoreboards are all terrible. Plus during the GoDaddy Bowl, the neighborhood thugs come out and roam the concourses and stands looking for fights and using obscenities. That's probably worse than the amenities. Ladd Stadium gets one star because of the nice field turf and it has some pretty cool history. South Alabama will bring in some good crowds in 2014 because of Mississippi State and Navy coming to Mobile but they desperately need an on-campus stadium. Based on the other reviews here the stadium seems to have improved a bit or maybe because we got discount tickets for Scout's Day I'm feeling a bit more magnanimous. The women's bathroom that I used was clean and had appropriate TP & paper towels. It could have used a little sandblasting & fresh coat of paint but looked a lot like other stadiums I've seen. The stadium itself seemed clean when we first arrived but people being people I'm sure by the end of the game the ground crew has to tidy up. The neighboorhood isn't all that great but since we were there for a game that started at noon I didn't notice any obvious crime or nefarious persons. While the rows, sections and individual 'seats' are marked it's really just metal benches. Do yourself a favor and bring a cushion and/or blanket as appropriate. My group found, after sitting down, that some of the benches were damp and it wasn't noticable until you sat down. Parking is really only for season ticket holders. The rest of us have to park in and around the neighboorhood, alot of neighboring houses offer you a spot for about $10. Your best bet is to park at Bel-Air Mall and take the shuttle over, cost is $2.50. read more

I knew we were in trouble when the police told us to find somebody's yard and park in it because the stadium parking lot was full. So, with much hesitation we did. The weather was incredible and we were fine and enjoying the game sort of. After the first quarter a hoard of children moved our bench for a better view. The sound system was beyond bad. Nothing said could be understood. The score board was behind every play! The official did not communicate any of the plays to the spectators. The concession lines were 4 deep and not not moving. I have been to better high stadium. There was a man smoking 3 rows in front of us. We left at half time only to find our car blocked in the parking space & people around the space snorting cocaine. Did I mention we pay the guy 20.00 to make sure we were not blocked in the space? The words I'd use to describe the experience are...we survived...we escaped. It is embarrassing for the city of Mobile to host a premiere event in such an inadequate and run down facility. I would advise watching the Sr Bowl on TV! read more
