Bellingrath's Gardens Christmas light display is absolutely the best we've ever seen. A very well light-guided tour that takes a minimum of an hour to see with almost every scene being custom-built by their team. If you're anywhere close, it's worth the $8 to walk through this display. Truly something we'll remember....

Fantastic walk thru for Christmas lights. Takes about an hour to walk all the way through it but definitely worth it. Was a long line to get tickets but honestly went very quickly. Kids enjoyed the hot chocolate at half way point. Only draw back is if you buy tickets ahead of time and weather gets bad they don't do rain checks or refunds.

This was absolutely amazing! The Christmas light display at Bellingrath gardens is like nothing I've seen! My husband and I went with our kids and his parents to take the tour of the lights a couple of days before Christmas. The entire family loved this tour. It was well worth the time and money we spent. We got there about 30 mini ties after it opened and didn't have too long of a wait at the gate to get into the gardens. It did however take a very long time waiting in a lengthy line of cars to get into the parking lot. I also noticed that by the time we were leaving the line to get into the tour was enormous. I strongly recommend getting there right at opening time.

I love Christmas! No, I don't put my tree up the day after Halloween. I always have live trees that would even make Clark Griswold envious, and I wouldn't want my fabulous tree to die before Christmas. Anyway, the day after Thanksgiving, I'm hollerin' "Bring on Christmas!" Bellingrath's mesmerizing Christmas light display starts the day after Thanksgiving (which is the appropriate time to start decorating for Christmas IMHO) and stays open until New Year's Eve (which is the appropriate day to take down Christmas decorations). It's closed on Christmas Day. One of my favorite things about Christmas on the Gulf Coast, besides usually picking my tree in shorts, is Bellingrath's Magic Christmas in Lights. We're talking over 3 million lights y'all! It's nothing short of spectacular! The gardens are full of magnificent light displays. There are lights in the trees, sidewalks, on the ponds, and they are very impressive! They have different themes set up. They have "Under the Sea" where you walk through a tunnel of lights with jellyfish, seahorses, and fish. They have alligators and swans on the ponds. All of the trees are draped in brilliant light displays. There's obviously a Coke display, complete with polar bears, but you probably already assumed that since Bellingrath is the gardens that Coke built. This isn't a guided tour. You can walk and look at the displays and spend as much time at each one as you like, and take all the photos you want to take. Although, pictures just don't do it justice; you really need to see it in person. Hint, it's a great spot for family Christmas card pictures. The home is also decorated for Christmas and they give guided tours of it as well, and the greenhouse is decked out with gorgeous Christmassy plants. There's a vendor set up outside the home selling snacks, hot cocoa, and of course, Cokes. This event was named as USA Today's Top 10 Christmas Light Displays In America. It's is not just for kids, not just for adults, but something the whole family will enjoy together. Ticket prices range from $7.50 for kids to $15 for adults, more if you want to enjoy the home as well. If you haven't toured Bellingrath before, I would recommend springing for the home tour as well. Whether you live here or are just traveling through, this is a must do Christmas activity!

The loud out of tune and spastic music selection, loud TV with football, and 4 wheeler with his own music which was not only annoying but even caused the artists headaches. Good advice to planners of these types of events, alittle quiet please so those sincere appreciators can enjoy and shop. People with dogs should understand it's not a dog show, your dog loves you but not the heat of blacktop, crowds and noise. To those people who's parents never teaching the art of etiquette, using interrupting behavior makes you appear classless. It doesn't help in sales or elsewise.

Y'all....go. Just go. The Jubilee Festival is awesome!…read more I try to go every year and I always find the cutest stuff. Some of my finds included a Corian trivet shaped like a turtle, and I got our niece one that's shaped like a mermaid. I also bought a spoon made from Corian with a notch on it so it can rest on the side of the pot. I bought a print of the Middle Bay lighthouse painted by a retired fireman. I bought two prints of sea turtles painted by an up and coming artist named Gary Pope, Jr. My friend Bev kept telling him he should increase his prices before I paid for mine. She's totally right, but wait until after I buy mine. My favorite local photographer/candle maker was there selling her candles and wax melts and I loaded up. That's Lynn Jordan/Bon Secour Candle Company, in case you're wondering. I bought Jasmine a tutu from a booth that had everything you could possibly want for your pet. Of course I bought some pottery. I got the most fabulous and practical utensil holder with crabs on it for only $36! I wanted so much more and the prices were great. In addition to what we bought, we saw wood bowls, gorgeous and well-made handcrafted jewelry, paintings, clothing, address plaques and so much more. There were several food stands as well and some live music. This festival is not huge. We walked in in a matter of a couple of hours and saw everything. It's really a can't miss annual event. There's no admission and parking is free.

It happens every year in the City of Biloxi and apparently I got to attend the 38th year celebration! Usually it happens around September each year and is on the weekend only. The location usually changes year to year but most of time in the same vicinity. This year it so happened to be in Biloxi Town Green which is right across from the Hard Rock Hotel. The admission is $5 for adults and $15 for the Gumbo contest they do on the last day which provides a cup of gumbo from each team. We decided to go on a Sunday and parked our cars at the Hard Rock parking lot and quickly crossed the street to the entrance. Immediately we noticed hundred of vendors and people selling local items from there business to the crowd but we came for the food. We noticed a large food stand selling plenty of items of seafood and other items such as turkey legs, alligator, and even shark. Most of the items there were fried and they even had crawfish platters. They sell Italian sodas and snow balls to beat the heat as well. Other vendors that were there was a BBQ truck with brisket, pulled pork sandwiches, and also tamales. I went ahead and got 1 tamale and wow it was creamy and had perfect flavor and spice. The size wasn't all that but it was good to go in my books. They also had a boiled seafood pavilion with blue crabs, seafood platters, and shrimp. We went ahead and got the half dozen blue crabs steamed with a side of deep fried jalapeno peppers. They were very fresh and sweet however the peppers just wasn't my thing because they seemed to be sitting out to long. They have a huge covered tent pavilion where you can go in and beat the heat by sitting under some shade eating your meals. This even had live bands and alcohol, face painting, and even huge air bounce houses for the kids at a set price. Overall love the ideas of celebrating South Mississippi rich seafood culture but just wish there was more seafood options and a lot on non fried options as well. Its a great family fun event to attend and enjoy the beautiful Gulf Coast!

Bellingrath is not among the gardens giving reciprocal admissions. After we paid, we were given a map and a brief explanation. Many of the garden paths are shady, while others are wide open. There are areas where there are lots of mosquitoes. Sunscreen and bug repellant are recommended for your visit. We enjoyed the water features, bridges, and the beautiful reflections. The so-called Asian-American garden near the end of the tour had some interesting hardscape but wasn't well maintained. The greenhouses were definitely worth a visit. There were lots of plants for sale during our visit. We didn't visit the Bellingrath Home Museum, which had an extra charge. All in all, we got some exercise and saw beautiful scenery during our visit. I'm guessing the gardens will be much nicer beginning in May. Hopefully the roses will be blooming by then.

There are some attractive water features and trees but a lot of the other plants will be garden flowers. It takes about an hour or so to walk through. If possible, avoid during the evening because even during the winter there will be mosquitoes unless it's actually cold. A nice walk and not that expensive so it's worth a trip if you're in the area.

I loved this place so much!…read more It's quirky, it's nostalgic, it's fun. We were there for lunch, so no live music, but there is a full calendar of acts. The food was fantastic! The sweet potato casserole was the best I've had, and the potato salad was fully loaded. Loved the sauce varieties, and had the mud pie for dessert which was scrumptious. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Lots of seating, lots of parking, lots to do...gift shop, glamping, the bayou, and of course "the poo with a view", lol.

The good: our $4.50 Shiner Bock was ice cold. That's all that we enjoyed. Ribs were overcooked and beyond tender - no smoked taste - meat was mushy fall off the bone - the texture was terrible. . Pulled pork was flavorless - it was devoid of any seasonings - we couldn't taste any seasonings or smoke flavors. Brisket had a great bark but otherwise it was dry and over cooked. Ordered 1/2 flat & 1/2 moist, which surprisingly puzzled the order taker as though he had never heard brisket has 2 distinct textures. All we got was dry flat slices. And they offer no burnt ends: "we're so busy, we would have no time to serve burnt ends." BBQ sauce was almost black and tasted burned. It was inedible. Beans were thin and pale and way too soupy. The cole slaw was soupy and very sweet. Since this place is apparently popular, and our servings were so different from BBQ in Texas and FL and SC, MS folks like a very strange facsimile of real BBQ. All in all, the Shed was just not good. Any Sonny's anywhere is miles better. We most certainly won't be back.
