Ms. Hana took COVID safety very seriously and took all the measures to make sure that the learning environment was also a safe place as well which was also a top priority for us. It was going to be his first time in a structured school setting so I really appreciated the smaller class size and student to teacher ratio because I felt like he was able to receive a more individualized curriculum and he was met at his academic level. When my son first started, he had very basic knowledge of his letters and sounds, but now we are almost to the end of our first year and he is reading simple sentences. It was during a storm and I almost turned around, but I was getting desperate after visiting a bunch of daycare centers that I didn't like. We felt so welcomed! This good feeling and experience continued during the application process and the first day I dropped my son off I felt relieved and confident about my decision. He clearly liked it too, until now, there have been no tears during drop off, ever. He actually never wants to leave. My experience with a previous day care was night and day in comparison. It is a small school in the lower level of a church, but all teachers are very professional. This is a real Montessori school -- the materials in classrooms are very well set up, and they have lots of outdoor play, even on colder days. They often go on walks in the quiet woods that surround the school. All teachers are great with the kids, and expose them to various languages. There is a small student-teacher ratio and a diverse staff and student body. We couldn't be happier!

I assumed that we would enroll her in St. John's for the two years of Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4, and when the time rolled around for kindergarten, we would place her in a Montgomery County public school (as Montgomery county is recognized for its excellent schools). Our daughter, and now our son, have met wonderful friends, and enjoy participating in all of the activities that the teachers and staff painstakingly take the time to plan. From a parent's perspective, we love the small class sizes, and the fact that the teachers make our children comfortable and happy. Additionally we have witnessed firsthand the success of the school's work on character development, as all of the students are exceptionally polite, and friendly. Not only has St. John's provided a warm, safe, and fun environment for our children, but it also does not hurt that our children have really excelled academically during the course of their education with St. John's.
