( ie .. how to pick the perfect tomato and avocado, explaining what each pepper is used for(and their heat levels ) and even recommended hot sauces to bring home as we gathered the ingredients for our cooking class. While at the market Nassim treated us to delicious authentic mexican enchiladas and beverages. After leaving the market we went to the La Parrilla restaurant for the cooking class. This is when Nassim showed us he was more than a tour guide , he is a phenomenal private chef. He was extremely patient with us as we attempted to follow his lead as he showed us how to prepare the dishes. HIs knife skills are amazing and his use of seasonings is spot on. Nassim showed us how to make authentic corn tortillas for chicken enchiladas along with the red sauce , handmade sopas for chicken sopas and an amazing guacamole . Nassim and the La parilla staff treated us to delicious margaritas while the food was cooking. When the food was almost finished cooking, we assisted Nassim in plating the meal and we sat down with him to eat. Nassim excused himself towards the end of the meal to finish making the arroz con leche, which is a delicious rice dessert he served us. In conversation I had mentioned we were in Mexico to celebrate my birthday. Nassim , very thoughtfully and unexpectedly, had a slice of birthday cake brought to me as he and the restaurant staff sung happy birthday to me at the end of the class. I could not have asked for a better experience. Thank you Nassim and Cancun Food Tours for this experience and the recipes. I cannot wait to recreate these dishes at home

Leo is an excellent driver and G was very personable and funny. We got lots of information on the places we were going - there was 5, 4 taco and one churro. All of different Mexican origins - all delicious. Churros really topped it off - sweet, crunchy and fresh. I would highly recommend this tour - it is a great way to spend an evening. Tasting wonderful food, enjoying different beers and making new friends. Enjoy!

Xel-Há - Stunning Nature, So-So Food, and Skip the Timeshare…read more Xel-Há is easily one of the more beautiful and enjoyable destinations in the Quintana Roo area. The natural surroundings, cenotes, lazy river, and waterslides offer a full day of adventure and relaxation. If you break down the ticket price by the activities included, it's actually a solid overall value. But let's be clear: this is not a 5-Diamond experience. The food is the biggest letdown. The buffet is nothing special--average at best. The fries, in particular, are almost always cold and soggy, thanks to a heating system that doesn't keep up, even when food is freshly made. It's the kind of food that fills you up but doesn't leave an impression. A few tips to help you make the most of your trip: * Buy tickets online in advance - This helps you skip the lines and sometimes score a small discount. * Avoid visiting during election season - Due to Mexican law, no alcohol is served during this time, even at tourist locations. If part of your plan is to sip a drink by the water, plan around that. * Skip the timeshare presentation - While it might sound like a good deal (free breakfast + discounted or free tickets), it's really just a pitch to buy into a discount program. You're not buying a vacation home--just access to marked-up offers with a "discount" tag. If you do your homework, you can usually find better deals on your own. Bottom line: Go to Xel-Há for the nature and fun activities. Just manage your expectations with the food, and avoid the timeshare trap. It's worth a visit--just not worth believing the hype.

Overall we had a wonderful experience but with major hiccups first they allowed our travel agent to…read morebook a dinner reservation to a restaurant that no longer exist and we didn't find out till check in while verifying all of our reservations secondly one of our two reservations to xoximilco was not in the system we canceled and rebooked and at the end of our trip we were being charged for that first reservation that didn't show on the computer which caused the check out to prolong which made us miss our scheduled reservation bus back to the airport. Then they tried to insinuate that it was our fault that we missed our bus a 5-minute checkout turned into a 30 minute checkout because a f****** on their part. on the drive back from xoximilco, there was a group of about 10 people that were clearly intoxicated, being very disruptive and nothing was done about it. Skip the timeshare presentation they told us that we would get a $400 massage and it turned out to be maybe a $70 massage also they say it's an hour and a half from beginning to end and it took over 2 1/2 hours. The all-inclusive is definitely worth it if you eat a lot and drink a lot which is something we did. on our last night there we went to restaurant that supposedly had the tomahawk steaks come to find out they didn't they had sent their meats to another restaurant so that was very disappointing. Staff is very friendly

So much fun! We got the four destination tour- Tulum, Coba,…read moresome cenote, and Playa del Carmen. While we were headed to the first destination, we got in a long, long traffic jam, due to an accident, which delayed the trip. Instead of cutting the trip short, they still powered on to all the destinations and gave us plenty of time at each stop to get to see and do everything. Lunch was all you can eat, at some shanty by the cenote. It was a great Yucutan dish- conchinita pibil with marinated red onions. We basically had the cenote to ourselves- it was beautiful. Before I dove in, we were blessed by a Mayan priest, who blew copal smoke on us and had us hold various pieces of mayan artwork. The van was air conditioned, and a comfortable ride. No bathroom was onboard the bus. The bus was clean, and spacious. Our guide spoke English, and was fun and knew lots of facts and was happy to answer all the questions. They were fantastic. It was a good value for all the things that we got to do. I'd book with them again!
