Marshall Exteriors - Deck

Marshall Exteriors

QUALITY WORK. GREAT PRICE…read more Marshall Exteriors provides quality work and friendly customer service. They go above and beyond to ensure the job is done correctly. We ordered gutters for our home - Dripaway Gutters, an extension of Marshall's - and were quoted an excellent price. Even with recent storms our area had received, we were able to get on the schedule quickly. Our gutters were installed in a few days due to the size of house and it looks like our home got a complete facelift. They were clean and efficient with clean up of old materials - we had old gutter attachments still on the house in certain areas, and they disposed of it with ease. Our home looks beautiful and the gutters worked wonders at helping dry out our basement.

Always professional top quality workmanship. I've done four projects at two different homes with…read moreMarshall Exteriors since 2019. The latest in Fairport, NY. A new deck and storm door out to it during the last week of December 2023, replacing a 20+ year old one. The finished product will last more than 20 years. It's amazing. After that we decided to replace almost all our windows due to heat loss. (They were the original single pane crank outs) That was just done 2/28&2/29/24. We wondered why it would be two days after watching a heavily advertised window company replace another unit's in 6 hours! Well, it's because they did it right! Installed with wrap, insulation, and all the outside and inside finishing work. The sales rep, office contacts and crews are always professional and easy to work with. It was noted by several neighbors that Marshall exteriors really know what they are doing. The difference is noticeable already. I wish I had pictures of the windows before and after, as more marketing for your windows and doors is needed!

Probably due to the window not having the lower supports that most bow/ bay windows have installed. Thanks again Modern Window.

Edit: After calling Modern, Jessie the tech guy, came back out and made some repairs to the strike…read moreplates and adjusted the door so that it closes without a noticeable gap. The strike plates were given longer screws that made the deadbolt a bit more secure, but I addressed that the door lining/casing needs replaced from the amount of wood removed from behind the deadbolt. Jessie took pictures and said he will show them to his boss. The clicking noise at the door jamb was finally addressed by the tech to discover that there is a broken spring in the door jamb and the entire door jamb will need to be replaced. Again, I was told a piece will need to be ordered and customer service will be in contact. Jessie wrote on the order form about the door jamb, but only said regarding the lining/casing, he will show the pictures to his boss and talk to him about it. I purchased two doors (front and rear entry doors) in the Spring of 2021. We paid $4,260. We were told the doors have free lifetime service and that the company is accredited with the BBB. Sounded great! They were installed in August of 2021 and I've had nothing but issues since. First, I noticed that there was a 1/4" gap at the bottom of the doors. When I called customer service, it took nearly a week for the techs to come out to simply remove a piece from the door jamb that protects it in shipping. Next, we noticed the front door had a slight gap at the top. Call to customer service, another two weeks goes by before the techs come out to place a couple of silicone pieces around where light is peaking through and they move the strike plates so the door closes tighter. Third call to customer service, the silicon draft stopper at the bottom of the door has completely ripped off. Techs come two weeks later with the wrong size silicon draft stopper and later the customer service says it'll be another two weeks to order the proper size part. Meanwhile we have to slam the door shut to secure it and the bottom door jamb has a weird clicking noise. Finally today they were here to install the proper sized draft stopper and we discussed slamming the door. They moved the strike plates back to the original screw holes and blamed the gap at the top for being that the insulation is too short for our door, and a guy named Chris that can properly assess the situation and place a thicker piece of insulation in the doorway will call. They also removed wood behind my deadbolt strike plate when they repositioned it. Now one of the screws is only 1/2" into the wood and not secure at all. I'm LIVID! I called customer service and told them, "I need someone to come out that knows what the f**k they are doing!" And the answer I got, the guy I need, Chris, isn't in till next Tuesday. There's been four different techs that have come out, and I swear they don't communicate with one another AT ALL! I've been delaying making this review because I really hoped they would make it right. Instead I get shabby service, extended wait times and excuses after excuses. I recorded video as well, but I can't figure out how to upload it on this app.

Whenever deciding on a contractor, you also want fair prices, and no surprises, and A2Z did well on that too. We did have a hiccup however, the team made everything right in the end. We have 2 tips that we think can take the business to the next level. There must be a clear understanding between both parties when doing the estimate. This will reduce the need for scope creep in the project. For projects that require cleaning up, you need to make sure there is a plan to remove the trash. You take it with you, or it needs to be bagged in contractor bags to be put out periodically with the trash. I wish your business the best. I have no doubt that they will take these tips into consideration going forward. We will be in touch for the upcoming project.

Contractor sub-contracted the work (without informing me know) and the sub-contractor damaged the walls by using incorrect pressure washer jet nozzle, ruining the foundation of house (knocked out mortar from foundation blocks). Brought this to their attention and they agreed this wasn't part of the original invoice, nor was it the intention. They told me to fix their mistake they must charge me an additional $900 on top of previously agreed upon price. This company does not do they work, they sub-contract it out. Your results will depend on who is available at the time to do the work. There are good reviews from people who have had good sub-contractors come in. There are also bad reviews from people who had bad sub-contractors come in. If a bad sub-contractor damages your property, it will become your financial responsibility to have it fixed.
