Food is consistently good the only change we remember is a recent change to the beef taco meat , tastes different but not an improvement. The .75 cent charge for a sprinkle of onions on your enchiladas is just wrong , cost have risen on everything including Sely's menu prices. Service good. Been coming to this place since we discovered it almost 3 years ago. On previous visits food was tasty and great pricing. Today we stopped on our way to CC and got charged $31 for 5 tacos (bean anc cheese, chilaquiles, nopales and a spam and beans) and two coffees. We were in town because the Jordaunton DPS was the only location in the San Antonio area we could get an appointment at for over a month! We were looking forward to a special small town lunch experience on our little road trip, and we spotted Sely's as the first non-fast food place on our hour drive. Mexican sounded good, and the parking lot was full so we decided to take a chance and turn in. Service was prompt to get seated. The employees were sweeping and mopping to reset from the lunch rush; everything looked and smelled clean and the restaurant was kept nice and cool. Decor was cute. For a Monday afternoon it was very busy inside. The only thing missing was music; it was dead silent in there except for everyone crunching their tortilla chips lol. The appetizer chips were very greasy but we were very hungry so we ate them; the salsa was fantastic and unique. Food came out piping hot and fast after ordering; the style was a classic bland Tex-Mex with heaping portions. Cheese in the enchiladas was different; kinda like American cheese mixed with nacho cheese...didn't love it. Food was good, but after going up front to pay and being given the total by the owner, things felt pricey for what we ordered; then on top of that there is a 3.9% additional charge if using a card. We weren't given an itemized receipt, but we were asked to pay over $39 for two iced teas, two entrees and a side of cheese (before tip). Any way you slice it the prices on the menu don't match (and the menu pricing here on Yelp is even more outdated.) After reading some of the other reviews saying it seems as though prices are made up at random, it did kinda feel like that -- bummer. Transparent pricing is so important. If we come out this way again we'll probably keep driving. Hope they can get that figured out. read more

Older Lady at register needs to fix her attitude, pointed out there was hair in the food, but got blamed for planting it myself because all their cooks are bald i was told lol even though we were sitting right underneath one of their cameras, told them to check them to make sure before they make accusations, never coming back to this place read more

First restaurant we tried when we moved to Pleasanton tx and were pleased with quality of food and love their salsas. VERY DISPLEASED with recent visit for breakfast. Service was slow and unregulated. Upcharge for chips without even a mention, up charge for credit card, and tip added on after we left cash tip at table. Had a wonderful meal at Sely's yesterday. We had a large group of 20 or so people, and the afternoon waitress was phenomenal. 1. She organized a long table in a good location near the air conditioning for us. 2. She got our drinks out quickly and stayed on top of refills throughout. 3. She took our orders promptly and then delivered them so quickly (and piping hot) that we were astonished. (Kudos to the kitchen too!) She had no assistance! 4. The portions were quite generous. 5. The food and service is always great. I don't dine in, but do 100% takeout. The food is the best at lunchtime, especially the chips and salsa (which is included with every to-go order!) This local favorite has very good service. They have many traditional dishes. Don't freak out but the chips are orange colored. The salsa is very good, with a little spice. The tacos are okay and there some really good dishes, but average was the overall consensus. The enchiladas were not sampled. Later i heard that's the thing to order. Road tripping from Austin to South Padre, and looking for some breakfast, we found this little spot. People were friendly, and quick with service. It was your typical family owned breakfast and lunch place. Atmosphere was perfect. We got the breakfast special 3 tacos for 3.99 and the pancake special for 4.99. Can't beat all the good we got for under 10 bucks. The food wasn't the best food I've ever had in my life, but It hit the spot and was definitely tasty. Overall, much better choice for a road trip than whataburger or subway. Plus it's just a short jump off the 37 ... Less than 5 miles. read more

This restaurant was WAY overhyped as one of the BEST places in Pleasanton. I expected it to be that "hole in the wall" restaurant you go back home and brag about. Eh. . . Myself and my wonderful wife who smashes on Messican food like no other, were greeted by the owner I'm guessing, She was standoffish and turned us away from any small talk we tried to initiate. I mean, this does not attribute to the restaurant getting 3 stars by all means, but I love a good owner who is friendly, funny, warm and welcoming; it's just my personal preference is all. Anyways, we're seated and the waitress comes over quickly. She takes our order followed by her calling us "boss" over and over again. It's all good, I liked her approach. We ordered chicken sour cream enchiladas and two tacos. The chips and salsa were ok. The salsa had too much citrus for my taste. Our order came out fast! The enchildas were good, the beans had a smokey flavor that is normally not found in Messican beans. It was pretty effin amazing! I couldnt stop eating those dang messican strawberries (beans). Rice was really nicely cooked and flavored. The corn tortillas were Fabulous fam. Yum. Now.... let's talk about the crunchy beef tacos. In my Simon Cowell voice: "It was a complete and utter mess, do you have a Crunchy taco - cooking instructor back there in the kitchen somewhere? You do? Ok, now go get yourself a lawyer and sue them." Bros. It was the worst taco in the universe and would probably tie for last place in the galaxy with a pile of mud. There was an ocean of salt in the taco and the taste was way off in left field like the kid with an oversized baseball glove whom no other kid wants to play with but you have to invite to your birthday party because your mom is making you. El terrible. Anyways, as we are leaving I asked one of the waitress is we could get to go teas, she ignored me and didnt even acknowledge my existence, I felt like that kid in... left field - playing in the grass, wondering If all his frogs keep on dying because there are no hole on the top of the jar lid. I Was THAT kid today! Yes I was. Anyhoo. We got our tea realizing they charged us for the cups, no big deal, of course - shifters never charges us, Cancun never charges us, chris cafe never charges us, or mi tierra or really anywhere else that we go. No big deal.... The owner checked us out, you could cut the awkward silence with a plastic butter knife. She did thanks us as we two stepped it the hell our of there. Stopped by on way out of town. Tacos were all good. No tiny wimpy big city stuff where tacos shrink and $ goes up. Barbacoa , carne guisada, fajita... all were good and filling. Chips and salsa were quite good. No oily wimpy chips here. Salsas were all good. Even had some kick to one of them. This is not a gourmet place (if one would oddly expect that here). Went 30 minutes before they closed. Waitress I got was so rude. The other waitress had to help me andwas nice and came to check on me. I wanted huevos rancheros but order huevos a la Mexican. When I mentioned to rude waitress she ran and got me the menu. She said I can bring you ranchero sauce very rudely and left. She never came back. Chips we so saturated in grease. What a great surprise. We were traveling from Austin to Port Isabel for a vacation and looking for bbq for lunch. It wasn't open so we pulled in here. Restaurant is located in a old small house and has the decor associated with your local texmex eatery. Very prompt and friendly staff. Their chips and salsa are amazing!!! Obviously made on site. Came to Pleasanton to pay off a speeding ticket(not very pleasant) and found this place on yelp. Food is of average quality that I have come to be acquainted with growing up in the valley. Beware the selys plate(two cheese enchiladas and chill rellano) comes with a lot of food but is delicious. I've been a few times already with a friend who loves it there. The staff is fast at bringing menus and drinks. Sometimes food takes a while but it's expected at lunch time. Chicken fried steak was disgusting and the cheese enchiladas are not that great. Too much American cheese in them but I understand it's the more melty cheese. Rice is okay. The salsa is what you want to go for. It's very good. The last time I went the ladies were sweeping the dining room and were sweeping next to my table hitting my foot a couple of times with no apologies. I'm sorry but sweeping when I'm eating is gross. I know my table is high but just the thought of dust flying in my food is no bueno. I try to sit by the front so I don't see the cart full of dirty dishes toward the restroom. The enchiladas are good too although they would be better with cheddar cheese instead of the "easy melt" (velveeta/american processed) cheese that is common in South Texas. Stopped here at Sely's on the way to the beach. (Name change?) A very quick hop from IS35. Service was fast and friendly. All the food, chips, salsa, tortillas, etc are home made fresh and flavorful. I ordered salad in lieu of refried beans and rice. My husband liked them but I think the rice was too salty and they might have flavored the beans with bacon fat. To each their own. This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Pleasanton. The portions are huge and the charro beans are to die for! I usually get the asada a la mexicana taco and it's plenty for lunch. It gets pretty busy around 12 so come early if you have a group of more than 4. Lunch specials are cheap and the waitresses take care of everyone! read more
