I used to love this place about a year ago. I went there this weekend and it was awful, the tea tasted old, my guisada was raw, queso tasted like a microwaved block of cheese, it was like eating cafeteria food. After reading some bad reviews decided to give it a go and was glad I did. The chips and salsa are top notch as they are fresh and toasty. Ordered pastor mini tacos and they came out fully dressed with grilled onions, cilantro, limes, and avocado slices to spread out evenly. Was kind of shocked they tossed on some melty cheese that was much welcomed surprise as no one usually adds cheese. There service was good and the food excellent. Underwhelming. Ambiance/service: The staff was friendly enough but answered my 2 questions in a manner that made me question if they had heard me correctly. There were multiple TVs on as well as music all playing at an unnecessarily highvolume. The faux wood panelling and mismatched cheap artwork was, well underwhelming. Food: Eggs were good and cooked how I asked. Beans were good. Potatoes were good. Omelette was ok, LOTS of fresh tomatoes (ok, too many). Tortillas were... ok, I guess. Very thin, a little tough. Good coffee. Do NOT get the guisada. It tasted like cat food. So, we ate. We're full but not stuffed. And we wont be back. read more

While in the Jourdanton/Pleasanton area on business, I stopped in this place because it was during the lunch hour and they had the most vehicles and most pick-up trucks in their parking lot. I was not disappointed. This is a place where locals go when they want a hefty plate of Tex-Mex fare, and as all the locals clearly know what they get here, this review is for anyone new to or passing through town. I was seated immediately by someone who seemed quite in charge--a manager or owner--and who was quite eager to please a new customer. Chips and salsa quickly appeared. The salsa here is fresh and good, though very much on the spicy side, a bit much for my low-spice tolerance, but it is likely considered mild by the local crowd. For some reason at least three of the Tex-Mex places in this area highlight seafood on their menus, as does this location. Nevertheless, I opted for a fajita beef burrito served with the obligatory refried beans and rice. What came was a considerable platter of food with one large, stuffed burrito. The menu offers a considerable list of sauce toppings, one of which is "gravy" and cheese. Something is a bit lost in translation as this was a delicious enchilada-type sauce. Don't let the term "gravy" confuse you. The rice was on the more flavorful end of standard Tex-Mex fare, and the refried beans were particularly good. These were not the ultra smooth, pureed bean style, rather they still had considerable chunks of bean and were especially flavorful. While they were a bit salty, these were some of the best refried beans I've had. Service was excellent, and the food came out quickly and hot. If I'm in this part of town again, I will likely drop in. read more

Authentic Mexican food served up here. The stucco yellow exterior promises an equally beautiful interior but we were disappointed with the cold, cafeteria vibe upon entering. But the tacos made up for the lame decor. They're huge and only 2 bucks each. We also loved the chips and salsa. The chips were scratch made from flour tortillas, not the typical corn chips you usually get, and were delicious. The salsa was fresh and flavorful with just a hint of spice. Update on my review. My friend ate here and ordered the beef fajitas. He said they were good in flavor and tenderness. The homemade flour tortillas were soft and good. So we gave this place another try. We got the breakfast tacos. I got the sausage and egg with cheese and potatoes added. The homemade tortillas were very good. Lots of filling in the tacos and not too much egg. I think we definitely ordered the wrong thing the first time we ate here. I give this restaurant 2 stars. I don't know if everyone that posted a review was family or just has low budget taste buds. The cheese dip was good, the salsa tasted store bought and the chips are thick so more on the tough side for what I like. The crispy taco was full of meat and the shell was nice and crisp. The enchiladas I got were cheese but very little flavor and barely any cheese. The tostadas were good but again very little flavor. The quesadillas had very little cheese and the tortilla was very thick and dry. Thankfully my meal came with sour cream and guacamole. I put it on everything for a little flavor. This meal was a bit weird when it comes to taste. Where this place lacked, they made up for in other places. The guacamole was to die for, but the cheese tasted a bit like rubber. So with that intent to find out how good it was, was my main focus and glad that I did. The bowl of Menudo was full of honeycomb meat and hominy!! its not for everyone? in my party I was the only one who ordered it,and had to share cause an other person was wary about having it, but when they saw how I was enjoying it, had to ask for some!! glad I had ordered a side of Barbacoa which was also very good!! cooked right on spot not to dry or oily?? so all around its was a pretty good breakfast!!! service was friendly and attentive!! being it was breakfast and they were swamped, they did very well so no complaints or maybe just one? the salsa needs a little more heat, that would be perfect!! ohh? and was it better than my moms?? sorry, but no, I would give it a 8.5 which is good and it hits the spot after a night of excessive enjoyment!!! read more

Food was decent but service not so much. We ordered things off the menu as we wanted and the waitress(not sure if she was new or not) brought us more than we asked for. We told her we didn't order all of that and she just turned and walked away. Didn't pay any attention to what we said. Then when we go to pay we get charged for the items she brought to us even if was not what we ordered. How hard is it to bring a customer what they want and not what you want just to up-charge the customer. Makes no sense. We will not come back again. read more
