They is a lot of buses which go from here, including to Manchester, Southport, Bolton and The Trafford Center, but I can't help but feel most of the buses are unneeded and go too far, for example Manchester is only around half an hour on the train, but getting the bus here is 85 minutes and when Southport is also around 1/2 an hour on the train, but still the bus takes nearly 2 hours which is ridiculous, considering services available from Wigan Wallgate. I think it is misleading for people who may not know the area for buses to take so long, when the train takes only a fraction of this, and going on one of these journeys is in a way a punishment, and I'm sure it wouldn't be much cheaper (if anything) than getting the train. I feel to get the best of public transport, the station should work with Wallgate and North Western to encourage people to use the train for longer journeys, and then this station can become a local hub, with more buses going to local destinations which will help benefit Wigan and local towns, and give people a better deal. As a station this is merely average and is your typical bus station, with a newsagents etc, it isn't terrible as it is good to have in central Wigan but sadly I don't feel it deserves over 2 stars.

Take a right out of the station and walk up just a little way and you will come to a Costa, a pizza place, and a small book shop, Linghams (which also has a café inside!) Who could ask for anything more? Or, if you want the library, take a left and walk down. The fire station is also there in case you start a fire on the way (ha ha), and the police station only a little further down beyond those.

Well they're miserable, like all bus drivers! There is a great little cafe connected to the bus station called Gill's Cafe, it's cheap, great quality and incredibly friendly. Aside from the cafe, there's a charity shop and a pub. So if you miss the bus you can go and buy a tatty old book a then go for a pint to peruse your newfound novella! The station is very safe as it's in a big open space in the centre of Heswall, just five minutes away from the local police station! It's one of the best kept stations that I've seen on the Wirral!

I also do feel they could have launched with a larger amount of new liveried buses, especially compared to Diamond Bus North West who started commencing routes from First Manchester's Bolton depot shortly after Go North West commenced, in August 2019.

They are going above and beyond to fuel and support the passenger experience, which includes investing millions of pounds on brand new buses for the X43 - Witchway, the buses were already comfortable and impressive but they just had to do one-up on themselves, I hate being on buses for a long period of time, especially with their Manchester - Burnley service taking way over an hour, but they find a way to make that journey enjoyable including - A mini-library on the bus, where you can even take buses home and return them on your next visit - Free wi-fi, the wi-fi isn't too fast but at a time where most other major bus companies have removed it due to either cost or COVID reasons, the fact they're maintaining a wi-fi is great - Mobile phone charging, you can charge your phone here through the USB charging or even the wireless charging at certain tables - Tables upstairs or at the back of the bus downstairs, making the journey much more comfortable again. - Orange front of the bus and lights going around a bus which is predominantly black if there was a limousine version of the bus it'd be the Witchway. I also like the stop announcements which don't just announce the stop, but they also announce the route along the way, for example, it gives you a warning before the bus enters the motorway at Prestwich as obviously it won't be able to stop for a while until it heads into Rawtenstall, it also announces when arriving into city/town centres, I've also noticed this on other Burnley Bus Company services too, such as the Mainline services which connect Burnley with a huge chunk of East Lancashire including Clitheroe. The frequency of the buses is still pretty good, buses regularly run on-time and never seem too overcrowded, which is handy especially during the current pandemic, where many operators have cut their services down to a poor level. I also like how different bus services have a different bus lively, but they all seem to stand out and look good inside and out, buses are as clean as they can be, bearing in mind they don't have cleaners on board, another COVID precaution is cleaners getting on/off the bus to sanitise everything at stations along the route, on the X43, someone got on at both Rawtenstall (Mid-way point) and Burnley (terminating point). The drivers always seem friendly too, it seems there are idiots who work for every bus company who are rude, clueless or even abusive, but I've never experienced a driver from Burnley Bus Company to be anything but friendly and eager to help. 5* - Empowering East Lancashire, not just connecting them into Greater Manchester and parts of Yorkshire, but providing a comfortable experience with friendly drivers, all in all, a great company, I just wish they offered more services which served Manchester.

I used Preston Bus Station as a connecting point to get between Deepdale and the Railway Station as obviously the only route between the two involves changing buses here. Designated as a listed building in 2013, it is even more shocking and poor form to see this place go downhill - inside the station I found to be old-fashioned and dirty - unlike many bus stations in cities there was a lack of technology and it was even difficult to find out which stand (trust me there is many) each bus would go from, and then the times from there - there was a bus number and a few common places listing above every stand but this seemed to mention both directions so was no help - made more difficult again by certain buses going to the same place by the same company (I used Preston Bus, but Stagecoach also go from here) could be at other ends of the station. I mean, come on that makes no sense - why not have the buses going to the same place at least next to each other avoiding having to chance and wait for one? There was a lack of staff at the station too even at a busy period (it was the evening after 5000 City fans were travelling home from Deepdale after City defeated Preston 3-0 - considering the policing around the railway centre and city centre it was surprising and poor again to see this place so deserted. An impressive building from the outside but as you go closer and closer, the excitement of entering a building which looks great and is a bus station nonetheless becomes more regret with a poor confusing layout, lack of technology or even basic information any bus station should have which is dirty, with an odd smell and understaffed at a busy time - it made no sense being so poorly run. 1*
