We have a Freightliner Cascadia, that started feeling and sounding strange, when doing tight turns…read more I thought maybe an axle had not unlocked ; causing tires to jump traction; since I had activated axle lock during harsh winter conditions in WI, earlier. I took the tractor to another shop, per friends recommendation; who told me they thought it was best to remove the differential to examine; at a minimum cost of $600. I wanted a second opinion, due to instinct & some mechanical aptitude of my own. Charlotte's differential repair/rebuilt place (Transaxle) recommended calling Daniel at Wayside Truck & Trailer. I took the truck there; and Daniel personally came out and inspected; noticing a worn spring bushing, on rear axle. They replaced the worn busing; along with other preventative maintenance. I picked up the tractor yesterday; and the strange feelings / sounds were gone.... it WAS the bushing. So, if I'd trusted the first shop; they would have removed the differential to inspect; per their statement; and this would not have fixed the issue; at great wasted expense to me. I'll be coming back to Wayside, from now on. I said great and told him it was no rush because I was about to be out of town for a week. Call yesterday, Thursday 7/6, after they've had it for 10 days now and get a list of excuses why they haven't looked at it. He says that he can look at it Monday 7/10, but I have to leave for Vermont tomorrow and who says after having it for TWO WEEKS they will actually look at it Monday? Daniel tells me he will call me by end of day. So by 5:45pm I haven't received a call and they close at 6pm. I call and get placed on hold for 5 mins to be told that Daniel was on the phone and would call me back as soon as he got off the call. Nothing. No call back. I call at 10am this morning 7/7 and they still haven't looked at it and again just have a list of excuses. Guess I'm just picking it up and will continue to jump start my batteries and hopefully have brakes til I can get it to someone else who actually cares about their customers and their safety. So ridiculous. Will never return and will never recommend to anyone.

They either have no idea what they're doing or don't care to make mistakes made right. They had my dually truck for a driveshaft build and to replace some studs on the hub. Driveshaft looks good, made it 30miles down the road and the bearings locked up because they decided it would be a good idea to put the old bearing back in or they didn't install them correctly. Either way they're choice in a poor rebuild. The truck was delivered to a master mechanic of 30+ years who instantly could tell by the wear on the axle that the hub bearings were installed wrong. He then called driveline services who admitted he was right but said they weren't to blame even with their greasy thumb stains still on the hub they ruined. Then Josh gave us the run around and was absolutely no help in fixing the issue they left me with. The mechanic and myself were very disappointed in how they handled the situation. We're all human and make mistakes but to be rude about it and act like he's the best builder there is and to not take any responsibility speaks volumes on their service. I've told many of my big rig buddies to avoid this place at all costs.

We provided an extensive list of items to repair and they also made another recommendation that was not visible to us. Our truck is a 2008 6.4L Ford F-350 truck which requires that the cab be lifted off for some of these repair/service items and they wisely focused on major repairs and service items to maximize the value of the work required "under the hood." The truck is, once again, a dream to operate.
