It took almost 30 minutes for my friend and I to be served at the bar. The first time I was here I had the roundhouse mac n cheese. It was good though nothing special, but the poor service definitely cancelled out what was decent food. The second time I came here on a work dinner, where we somehow stuffed almost 20 people on a long table. Service was a lot better, though maybe it was because I was with a large group. I went during poutine week, so I had the Taco Mac n Cheese Poutine. The mac n cheese was actually mac n cheese bites, which was ehh...but I liked the concept! Cheese curds are good, size was generous, and the nacho beef was cooked well and juicy. So to cancel both visits out, I'll leave is as 3.5/5 for now. If I get good service next visit I'll be happy to bump this up to a 4.

I work nearby here and came on the last day of burger week, because their burger was being ranked top 5 in all of Canada. I had to see what the hype was about, and sure enough the hype was justified. Their burger was a Whiskey King burger, which included their Whiskey River grilling sauce, cheese, glazed bacon, fried egg, onion rings, and your typical add-ons on a pretzel bun. It came with a cream of mushroom soup. The soup really caught me off guard. It was AMAZING. The mushroom pieces were plentiful and you can tell it was homemade, not canned. The burger looks like a giant tower and I was afraid to cause a mess, but it was delicious! I especially loved their burger and the bun that was used. You wouldn't think a town as small as Bird's Hill would house an amazing restaurant like this, but here we are. Definitely worth a visit if you have a car!

The pizza we ordered was wonderful and I would welcome a trip back there again to try other things from the menu. We were the last ones in the restaurant and Eva was so nice, to the point that she sat chatting with us into the evening, as if we were old friends who had paid her a visit. What an incredibly friendly and interesting woman she is! On the way home we talked about what an enjoyable evening it had been and how glad we were to have gone. "Wow, can you believe THAT?" was actually spoken by my friend, referring to Eva's incredible hospitality and easy conversation. We consider ourselves lucky to have arrived just in the nick of time before the door was locked, and went away feeling like we'd made a new friend. It's a bit of a drive if you're from Winnipeg, but if you feel up to a little road trip I would highly recommend heading out to Vita and stopping in at Eva's. Their poutine was above average in my opinion, their fries are fine, they're generous with their curds, and their gravy wasn't bad either. Nothing amazing, but it did the job. Service was excellent here. For what it's worth, Smitty's in my opinion has the best value for wing night specials. Their wings are on the smaller side, but it does equate to more wings since it's per pound. I'd say that's where you'd see me dine here more.

This one was quite good; the gruyere cheese was plentiful and was gooey, which is how it should be. The chicken tenders were crispy with plenty of batter. The honey dill sauce is on the creamy side, which I didn't like as much but I can imagine others preferring the creaminess of the sauce. It won't be a place that'll be on my regular visit rotation due to location and price, but I'd definitely have this in my list of suggestions for a special occasion.
