I came for IT band syndrome/bursitis in the hip, but it got worse. I think the exercises were too advanced for me because I was having a lot of pain and burning/neuropathy. Also, they kept telling to continue doing the exercises even though I told them I am felt pain (not muscle building). Luckily, I changed to a different Select PT and found another PT that diagnosed my main problem, which is keeping my knees from caving in. Now I am starting from the basics, and I have less pain in only a week. read more

Got injured at work and was sent to do PT here at Select Physical Therapy for the first time. I have never done any PT in the past so I was a little bit nervous. They don't really seem to care at all about leaving you in pain to wait for another appointment- even if you make all your appointments at once. I have had to go to this facility several times in the past for different injuries. Each time I felt like this facility and it's staff made me a top priority. They have corrected injuries which I didn't think would ever be corrected. There was pain, but, they do the best they can to minimize this and it is totally worth all of it. I am back there again with a new body part needing care. They are awesome about working with whatever walks in that day. Day to day, I don't know how I am going to feel but, they can handle whatever comes up. Not only do they personalize my care but, they also personalize it by the day. I still have a while to go before I am fully recovered but, due to the awesome staff and Debbie I know I will be able to walk again without pain. While providing this amazing care they are also working hard to make it safe for us! I watch and each piece of equipment which is used is sanitized after each use. Each time they have us sit or lay down, we can feel secure in the knowledge that the furniture has been cleaned since the last time it was used. Go here if you want to feel safe (covid) and want to recover! They will make sure that both of these happen. Before starting therapy with Deb I couldn't move my neck at all it was so painful and stiff. Secretly I was losing all confidence in myself and I had zero self esteem. I wanted to not exist because I was sick of being in pain 24/7. But after Just 1 or 2 sessions my pain started to ease up and muscles relaxed which lifted my mood. I've been to Stempniak physical therapy a few times. I loved that Debbie is so caring in getting you back to where you were before the accident. She explains what she finds when she treats your pain areas. The staffs are wonderful too. Thank God I was referred to this place. Unfortunately, I don't go there anymore, because my doctor had requested aquatic therapy which she thinks might help with my healing. I would recommend people to try them out at Stempniak. What can I say? I had bilateral knee replacement surgery and Debbie and her staff have me back to normal. (That is what I was at 6 years ago.) She is amazing = compassionate, caring and while being extremely knowledgeable, has the gift of being able to act as if each patient is the only one in the room. I witnessed her over the several weeks of my therapy deal with every type of personality. She is warm and instills trust. Stu is also a gift to those of us in need of PT. I have had two TKRs six years apart. I had Debbie S. as my therapist for both knees. I can not say enough good things about her. I'd give this center 10 stars. My first knee took months to get me healed and back to my job as an RN. My 2nd knee was much easier. Debbie was there as I cried through the pain. The office now is Covid compliant. Every one must wear a mask and wear it properly over their nose. We are asked to wash our hands before we start with the hand sanitizer. Today I watched a tech clean every piece of used equipment meticulously. I feel very safe at this center. Ned is also awesome and extremely encouraging. I've been to three other PT establishments in Orange County, this select PT center is by far the BEST! read more

I have been to Select PT several times without any issues, this time, however, I was approached by Debbie (office manager!?) in such a rude and inappropriate manner regarding where my mask was being warn while I'm doing exercises for my injury. Her demeanor was such that one would've thought I had blatantly ignored her previous requests...there were none, I had no idea that she wanted me to wear my mask in a different position until she walked up to me exclaiming that since I was having problems wearing my mask properly, I should wear one of theirs. Debbie, if you have an issue, and you are in a position where you work with the public...... simple, polite communication is a much better form of action if you intend to keep current patients such as myself. Clearly, based on your rude and inappropriate way of verbally attacking me, retaining me or family members as a patients was not your intent. I will be using one of my many other options for PT that my Doctor has given me as a result of your inability to act like a decent human being. I will never step foot in Select PT again nor will I refer anyone to your business. read more

I want to bring attention to a physical therapist by the name of James, who did my FCE report. I certainly do think he is a good physical therapist, but when comprehending injured patients, he is terrible! I thought he was going to be fair, but I was wrong! I can only say how untrue some of his facts were! I cannot see how someone would side in with Big Business Insurance Company, over a Patient. I was there from 7:45am till 1:30pm. and I did everything I was asked to do. I went as far as to bring my reports of my MRI's, and I assisted in every way to give him my honest feelings of how I was feeling through out the day. There were many times I was short of breathe, were he let me rest a little. Also when I was on the treadmill, my heart rate zoomed up to 140 beats a minute, were they had to slow it down, where it seemed like I was moving the belt. My heart rate barely went down then. I was asked to do some testing that were timed, and he would say that's enough, but I continued for a short time after. For someone to say I didn't put a full effort into my testing, is nothing but untrue! I just hope he can live with himself. Injured Patients that are sent to him in the future, Beware! read more

My initial consultation and first couple of physical therapy sessions went very well. Debbie S. was quite thorough, and provided me with great expert analysis and perspective for my very complicated cervical spine situation. The staff she had at the time, from the receptionist right down to every therapist were all quite awesome and very friendly. However as I started going there regularly on a more set schedule, each subsequent visit Debbie became a little bit more detached, and soon handed me over to one of her other associates, even though I had specifically asked to work with her. I will never question Debbie's knowledge and years of experience as she provided some explanations that even fancy orthopedics in Newport Beach could not provide. And I understand just how busy she was with so many people tugging at her expert hands...I get all that. But during my last session there, as she became more and more inaccessible, I simply wanted to ask her some very quick pertinent questions; yet she walked by several times without even acknowledging me, even though I was sitting in the reception area in clearview for at least 30 minutes waiting for her, as she was told I was waiting by the receptionist. That was the moment when I realized that the level of service and initial enthusiasm had substantially waned from my first couple of visits there, now that I was a regular. Again, the overall experience at her location was pleasant, if not for this obvious and somewhat perplexing downturn of the level of care as compared to the initial visits. I transferred over to the Irvine location and was very happy with their consistent level of service from session one all the way to the final multiple sessions. Again, I definitely recommend this office. But my description of my experience has a firm, objective base in truth, and it wasn't just a perception grab to feed an "entitled customer" narrative. read more

Upon arriving to my appointment with my physical therapist, I found that they unexpectedly switched me to someone else. When asked why they said that my therapist already had three other patient which was weird since I had a scheduled appointment with her. At a different appointment I found that the therapist I was working with had two other patients at the same time so since the therapist was being spread thin, I didn't receive the treatment I needed. Will definitely not be returning here nor recommending anyone. Update: After receiving a phone call and message from Stempniak, I have changed my opinion of them and thus revised my rating. Following a total right knee replacement, I was referred to Stempniak Physical Therapy. My therapist, Debbie, was incredible! She pushed me to the edge of my comfort zone with exercises and physical manipulation. She designed a home program for me, knowing I was leaving for Europe in a matter of weeks. After three months of working with Debbie, I departed on my vacation. I rode bikes, did a ropes course, and hiked in the Alps! Debbie is excellent and really takes time to properly care for you. When my doctor recomended PT after my car accident I wasn't thrilled because of a previous experience at a different PT a few years back after I had knee surgery. I wish i had gone to Stempniak then.
