My last rental was a 2021 Toyota Sienna Limited Hybrid with low miles. I reserved the van months prior with them only having one or two in their fleet. The primary reason for a van was to use cargo space for my son's college move-in. Communication was strong from Victoria on a tight timeline of availability. Checkout out of the van encountered an issue with the rear seat that delayed my departure out of town 30 minutes. Ultimately it had to be taken in the garage and roughed up by Victoria who had to break it to fold. So I was told it would not be usable on our family 10 day trip. It was not a deal breaker and we still desired the vehicle. We later needed the rear pop up for friends we made it work. The van performed flawlessly and was extremely comfortable. The gas mileage was a staggering 33 mpg fully loaded. The round trip of over 2300 miles it averaged approximately 35 mpg. This van had all the bells and whistles on it, but ultimately it was the amazing comfort that won out. No soreness after up to 7 hour stretches. The check-in process was smooth by another employee with Victoria in a meeting. They told me an a large adjustment would take place with issues relating to the rear seat. Days later I saw the credit on my card and it was extremely generous and appreciated. I love that Toyota Rental Cars continue to be a 100% Toyota operation with newer low miles cars at a similar price you would pay any where else. If there is one drawback it's hours which have improved. Of course I will return and tell others this is where you go to rent quality automobiles and receive award winning service. I had a Chevy Trax which was an upgrade with my status. Service was professional and speedy to get me on the road. The office was very blah, but clean with some seating. There were no other customers during my time. It's surprising this office has been located at the Regency Shopping Center for two plus years with no listing. It seems like a sleepy location, My low mileage clean car performed great with not a single issue. The return was just as smooth. Yes they are a bit more, but look for specials. I would recommend and will continue to use Hertz.

When I went downstairs to select my car, I was directed to the booth where two ladies were managing the rentals. I wasn't pleased with the selection of cars. I was told I could have a Dodge Charger, some kind of Buick, a Hyundai Sonata, or a Nissan Altima. I was expecting to have a better upgrade or at least get to choose my car. I took the Altima, and I actually ended up liking it quite a bit. It was initially disappointing because the other 3 choices would have made me mad. Returning the car was fast and easy, it was a little bit unclear where to park it, but the lady checking in the returns said it didn't really matter where I parked.

In this case, I have top tier status with National and the guy before me with non status (comment was made about it being first time with National) was offered an "upgrade" and given a vehicle I would have chosen from the Executive Emerald Isle. When I get there, I'm offered a Mitsubishi Eclipse. I immediately said "No!" It took him about 5 minutes, but he found me a mid-size SUV, which is all I wanted. They should reserve the "upgrades" (if that was truly an upgrade the previous guy got) for those of us who rent on such a regular basis we're truly entitled to them based on our status. Then when I went to get the vehicle and noticed the size of their fleet, I realized there's no reason this location doesn't offer the Emerald Isle. I rent from many larger airports as well and many many tiny airports and understand why they need to do counter service versus the Emerald Isle, this location shouldn't have counter service. All that being said, the car was great. The service was fine. And I was out pretty quickly. As for National's customer service, one of the most annoying things is when I write a mediocre review like this they post this typical response: "...we would like to know more about your experience. Please visit www.nationalcar.com/en/support/contact-us.html to contact us. Please be ready to provide the rental location, rental agreement or reservation number and your contact information. It's a used car lot and they rent the cars they're selling so they're not in perfect condition but it's VERY affordable. I rented a small car and they told me they'd call me when a full size came back and I could swap it out free of charge. The lady working inside is very nice. They require a drivers license, full coverage insurance (they will call your policy holder to verify), & a $100 deposit. They accepted my debit card so don't worry if you don't have a credit card. They refund your deposit the same way you give it to them. If I remember correctly they also accept cash. The cars aren't extremely fancy but they get you from point a to point b which is all I needed. I would definitely recommend. *also to add, I'd call before going because their hours ref very promising. At least not when I went a few months ago. It was hit and miss. Lol nonetheless once you get a hold of someone they're very helpful. I'll def be using them whenever I come into town.
