Joel is a scam artist. He takes advantage of people. He took in my mothers car for an electrical issue. After she put a $1000 plus deposit on it, to cover all the electrical issues, the alternator and voltage regulator. When she picked it up, he told her the engine had to be replaces, and she owed over 2000 more. She paid it, and could not even drive it 5 miles, when car died again. I had it towed, Joel refused to talk to me over her car, so she put a stop payment on his check since no work was even done to car. Now, 3 months of court appearances, and having to pay a different shop to fix the car. In Joel's words to me was that it is up to the men to take care of the vehicles. Women should not be "putting their noses" in men's work. (exact words). Bill to have the car fixed properly was 750. This place will take advantage of anyone they can, especially if they are elderly. On the last - Joel said a new motor was installed in this car. Nothing was ever touched in the motor compartment. Nothing even cleaned up. So all the money that he took advantage of my mother went into his pocked, and not into any repairs of her car. read more

Joel contacted me again to try to find a resolution to our issue. I had already traded the car at another dealership, but Joel offered to pay for the difference in what I got for trade and what he would have paid me, in exchange for "Signed release and non-disparagement agreement" approved by his lawyer. He also wanted "removal from Yelp and anywhere else posted, no further discussion or postings in any media." I told him that he should send me the check on good faith that I would update my comment. He sent someone to my house to deliver the check, which was inappropriate. I didn't answer the door and told him to send it in the mail, and to his credit, the check arrived within the week. read more

On May 18, 2017, more than two years after I posted a negative review, I was offered $200 to remove the review with the implication that I would face a lawsuit if I refused to do so. So much information on the vehicles, plenty of photographs, detailed walkarounds on video, and so easy to navigate and filter. I've never seen a used car dealer with a website so well put together! Additionally, after reading about Joel's story and technical experience, my wife knew she had found the right place to do business. We drove the hour from our home to Waterloo, just to do business with Mr. Osserman and his team, specifically. We were not at all disappointed! We had called in advance about the VW Tiguan we were interested in test driving; when we arrived, Joel took us out for a spin. When we knew this was the one for us, Joel worked tirelessly with my wife and I to find the right financing fit for us. He went above and beyond to make sure we left satisfied, and never once made us feel anything less than a valued customer. We left that day feeling very good about our purchase, and looking forward to doing business with Select Euro Cars in the future.  Fast forward to August: we've been really enjoying our time in our VW! It's been the perfect fit for our lifestyle; but, more importantly, we felt comfortable and safe with our decision. Then, one day, as we were heading into town for lunch, we heard an unusual noise coming from under the hood and panicked! Without thinking clearly, we made a rash decision to take the VW to the nearest open repair shop. What a mistake that was! The shop we took it to (who shall remain nameless -- nationwide chain) had no idea what they were doing with our dear VW. After two weeks of headaches and turmoil, and an expensive diagnostic fee, and a reported thousands of dollars in potentially necessary repairs, we were quite fed up. Then it dawned on us-- JOEL! Why, OH WHY, did we not think of taking it in to Select Euro Cars in the first place?!  We had AAA tow our vehicle from the chain repair shop all the way to Waterloo to have the team at Select Euro Cars take a look at it. The very next day, we received a phone call from Dan: "The car is done, ready for you to pick it up." We were in disbelief. Almost too good to be true, we drove down to pick up the car, and were over-the-moon excited to find out that the vehicle had been repaired in less than an hour and for next to nothing! (Very important side note: we had purchased the warranty option when we originally purchased the VW, and it covered the entire cost of the repair for us, including labor, and waived our deductible so we paid absolutely nothing out of pocket-- SO WORTH IT if you buy from these guys.) It turns out, the real problem was completely different from what the first shop said it was; they would have done all of the expensive, unnecessary repairs on our VW, just to find out that the problem was still not fixed. Instead, the guys at Select Euro Cars, who specialize in VWs and Audi, knew exactly what the issue was and fixed it right away.  We are beyond impressed by their knowledge and expertise with these cars. The team at Select Euro Cars is FANTASTIC, and I can't thank them enough. I solemnly swear that I will never take my vehicle to anyone else, for as long as I live.  We'll be in the market for another vehicle soon, and we can't wait to do business with these wonderful people all over again! read more

I heard about Select Eurocars about 15 years ago from a colleague. I've driven German cars for the past 30 years but never considered visiting here because I shied away from "used." But, having a TDi that VW is buying back from me, I was thinking about what I was going to do. On a drive-by, I was amazed at the quantity of German engineering I saw on the lot. We stopped in on a whim and my wife fell in love for an Audi Q5. We test drove it and bought it. That day. But the story doesn't end. After we got it home and I began to familiarize myself to this magnificent machine, I called Joel, the owner, and asked where the factory-supplied roof racks were. Well, Joel got a pair and UPS-ed them to me. Free of charge. And, we were concerned that there was only 1 ignition key. Again, Joel procured one and sent it to me. Free of charge. If you are responsible for getting them to Waterloo and buying a car from them, Joel will send you a check for $100. We were in Geneva, NY for an event when the radiator on our 2002 Eurovan self destructed in a parking lot. It was late on a Friday afternoon and after a quick web search, I found Select Euro Cars 3.5 miles away. We are from Maryland and were going to be in town for a week. The Bus was going nowhere! The dealership specializes in used VW ans Audi and is more experiences in selling and servicing these cars than other used auto dealers. They have special tools and diagnostic equipment from VW/Audi. I have gone to Select for many years to maintain my Audi vehicles. I have found Joel to be interested in his customers and committed to providing excellent service through his mechanics. They stand by their work, and reward customer loyalty with a modest discount on service. I have not found that at other places. The prior comments would seem to reflect folks that expect to receive a new car for a used car price, then fail to actually talk with Joel about issues that arise. His longevity in the area, and investments in his property, equipment, and inventory would be the best indicators that Joel enjoys a strong customer base who rely on his continuing presence. Such durability can only be achieved by looking out for customers interests while taking care of the underlying business. In my experience, Joel and his SelectEuroCar facility work hard in both arenas and do pretty well. I have recommended him to others and am glad that he is part of the community. read more

I traveled 1hr45minutes from my home to Select Eurocars in Waterloo, NY for servicing my vehicle with 120,000 miles. He quoted me a great price of $917 for a timing belt replacement including water pump, serpentine belt, rollers etc. He also matched the cheapest DSG service I could find locally for $229. On top he gave me a discount for being a AAA member. The service writer Dan and Owner Joel were very talkative and answered all of my many questions and concerns. They used "Hudson Products" timing belt kit parts. The mechanic was a friendly guy also. The removed components like coolant reservoir were cleaned before re-installation. I am 60 and have never encountered cleaning existing parts before by any dealer. The waiting room while not lavish does have reclining theater seats with cup holders that helped pass the hours it took for repair. They also let me use a lot car and recommended a lunch spot nearby. I drove my 2010 JSW TDI home 100 miles and it performed just like the way I drove it there. I asked for the old parts which looked like they would last another 100,000 miles. If I need any more major repairs/service I will return. I spoke to a fellow customer(lawyer) who said he has been buying cars and servicing them at Select Eurocars for over 25 years. The Good.....very very knowledgable about VW. I have taken my car for service there more than a few times. The issue has always been fixed and in a timely manner. Not the friendliest crew there but reletively polite.....until you question their wor,k. The Bad...they are VERY defensive when you question their r work. I had another problem crop up (fluid leak) immediately after having the car serviced there so I took my car back the next day and simply asked if it was possible they could have caused this problem as it was in the area of the service that was performed. They over reacted and were obviously sensitive to this situation, like it has happened before...it was very weird. ( they did not cause the leak BTW) Now the BAD....the parts. The quality of parts are fine, and I have a friend that buys parts from him occasionally when needed in a hurry. They buy parts from I.D. Parts, German Auto parts etc. Really very good parts of OEM quality. The issue is they mark up the parts to full dealer retail ! After having service done and being shocked by the price I paid I looked up my part on I D parts... $64....German Auto $76.... Went to dealer in Rochester VW service and got a quote for the part..$149 after standard discount they give everybody ! Joel charged me $179 for this part !!! The only place I could find that price was a general Google search by part number and that was the "suggested" dealer retail, which nobody charges. I feel ripped off and this is unacceptable and I will never take my car there for service again. read more
