The receptionist mentioned the wait time would be longer @ 5:18 they told myself and 2 other people that also had been waiting since 2 that we wouldn't be seen The right thing to do is let the customer know right off the start that they might sit there 3 hours and not get seen. 15 min to close we get told 'oh sorry come back tomorrow. we can't make an appointment it's first come first serve" yet that's not true either a man with a big dog checked in hours after us and was seen and left by 5:20. my rotty pup Bear was neutered recently and the dog was nearly choked to death as the technician dragged him by his leash... so much so that his eyes are very very red around pupils now I have been coming to this vet for years but this is unacceptable .. you need to talk to tech about NEVER DOING THIS AGAIN... ever!!! Be very careful and save ALL receipts. We have been customers for years and have spent thousands in there and due to their shoddy accounting they "misplaced" quite a few payments. I took in proof of payment, they said it was fixed and then closed our account and are still trying to charge us the full amount. You do have to be patient because they are always very busy and it's first come first served unless your having a serious medical emergency. there are vets way closer to my home but I chose to make the drive there because I know that my pets are getting the best care from Jess and the staff. I take all my dogs to Selah Veterinary Hospital to get their teeth cleaned. I am very pleased with the technician that performs this service, she is great and is so nice. The front counter staff are also very helpful and nice. I have only to complain about the reception area because it is so small and crowded all the time. I worry about the lack of control over the animals with the small area. I have only had one person at the Vets that is rude, she needs to go! We have been taking animals there for years, has been up and down with the quality of care for the animals. But they are close, then treatment today to just pick up some medicine was rude, only one person in the waiting room at a time, there is no way of knowing unless you enter the waiting room from outside, I was waiting out side and people were walking past me, and entering the waiting room, after 15 minutes I enter, and the one women was just leaving , and another couple walked out from the exam room, then a employee comes out and tells me to wait outside for the one person at a time rule, so waiting another 15 minutes or more, as two more groups of people Walk past me and enter the room, and after listening to the people inside talking about personal business The room is clear to enter. The line of people outside is long and hot, the two employees inside at the counter not a concern about all of the people Entering and leaving, more than 4 People at one time during my wait outside but they needed to ensure I go outside and wait. IF my dog did not need the medicine I would have left and never to return. Adding this up With the problems of the past, this vet clinic does what they want because they are the only one in the area. We moved away. Came back to Selah. Our dog is injured and can't walk. Told they don't accept 'new' patients. I said even in an emergency (as my dog is yelping in the background because of back spasms). We literally are 1/2 mile from this "hospital" she then said nope and hung up on me. Would have been nice to get a recommendation or referral to somewhere else. Even when you are busy, customer service should come first. Checked the reviews, only 3-5 stars get on the reviews, Yelp shunts anything else to a second page that says 'not recommended review' then explains why the poor review are moved following a strict process. I began taking my dogs to Selah Vet Hospital on recommendation of a few people who said they were good vets with competitively low prices. For basics like vaccinations, fixing, checkups, they are great. They are walk-in only though, so be prepared to wait as they're very busy. The front desk staff is extremely busy between phone calls and in-person customers, and with the "family-business" feel of the place, you may often have to wait longer in line, as receptionists get chatty with customers they know well. This can be frustrating, but again, possibly worth the wait depending on your needs. More recently though, I have become much less of a fan. For the last year, my sweet Chihuahua has become increasingly ill with a host of symptoms. Not knowing a lot about dog health issues, I TRUSTED that the vets knew what they were doing. I wish I hadn't!! My dog was diagnosed incorrectly, and over the next several months she continued to get worse and despite bringing her in several more times (and seeing every vet doctor there), I was told sometimes these things take months to regulate and to just wait it out. Through my own hours of research and determination NOT to let my dog suffer more, and her illness progressing to her nearly dying from it, I finally demanded a blood panel (something they never thought to do in the many visits prior) and xrays, and she was admitted for a week long intensive treatment because things had gotten so bad. Over $1000 later with more follow-up testing to go and the many medications she's now on, this has been a very expensive ordeal. But more disturbingly, I've had to watch my little companion suffer so bravely for months for NO GOOD REASON. A simple blood panel months ago would've prevented a good majority of her suffering and our expense!! The one ray of light in all of this is Dr. Baek, who has treated her from her near-death to what seems a steady road to recovery For listening to me and trusting my instincts, and for properly treating our dog, he has my deepest gratitude...and is the only reason I gave the 3 stars. Regarding all the other vets at Selah Veterinary Hospital--well, all I can say is, "Owner Beware". read more
