This review is simply for attitude & customer service. My young 8 yr old nephew wanted to look at bikes while his mom and I waited in line outside for ice cream at Leopold's. Unfortunately the Asian lady owner told him to get out. He came out, and told us he was told to get out. Soon after, she came out yelling at everyone "Get out of my doorway! I have a business to run, too!" So I went in, and the first thing she said was "What do you want?!" I told her that my nephew went inside to actually look at bikes. She said "no! You are blocking my shop!" It's too bad that she was so rude because we were actually thinking about renting bikes from her shop. She's an embarrassment to my Asian people. No wonder this country still looks at us as foreigners. read more

This place was cool and easy to get in and out of. They are a foreign couple and really went out of their way to sanitize (CV19) the bikes, offer lock and helmets and even adjusted the seats. Was lied to and ripped off when I purchased a bike here. This seems like common sense but definitely look up the bike you are buying and check the price, the owners are very crafty and will do what they can to take advantage of you. The customer service is pretty good (if you don't mind the not so occasional trick ;)). Sekka Bikes offers affordable bike rentals ($15 for the day), but their service is sub par both in speed and quality. My friends and I rented three bikes for the day. The worker was very absentminded. Then, as he was preparing our bikes, other customers came in probably for repairs or questions, but the worker didn't even acknowledge them. Giving three stars for the customer service and the speed with which a repair is usually turned around. Someone commented on the snobby attitude, and I agree as far as the lady owner. I understand she comes from a different cultural background, which I, as a foreigner can relate to, and I can understand the uneasiness of adapting to the American customer service oriented market, but her apparent husband is a much more pleasant man, humble and if not for him, I would not return to that shop. Nonetheless, there is absolutely no need to make comments assuming that your customer has no knowledge regarding any subject concerning bikes and their repair. Now, I do want to mention the young gentleman, who actually does the repairs. This mechanic works on certain days, and he was actually quite nice and extremely helpful. He comes across as really genuine person. Does his job quick and no bragging about his knowledge, just a handy advise at the most. Rented seven bikes with seven friends from Sekka. While we are all happy we don't own the bikes we rented, we all agreed that the bikes we were provided were very solid. No troubles whatsoever and we took them all over the city--rode during the day and late into the night. The staff was helpful and discounted the second day. $24 for two days of a bicycle with helmets and bike lamps. We were satisfied. P.S. I found there aren't that many bike store in the area and the three that I went I found this one to be probably the most helpful one, friendly service but also can be snobbish about their stuff; I came in with my own bike that I bought form a popular website (bikedirect) and they kind of make fun of me. "hey look! we to another one from bikedirect"... anyway, I don't care if you are an expert on fixing bikes or your knowledge surpass mine, but I'm a customer and I should be treated with respect; at the end I'm the one who is paying your salary. I give one star because an installation of toe clips led to the gouging of my pedal stem. The guy installed them in where the buckle rubbed into the stem on my 40 mile ride to home. I'll never ask that people that are young have a personality transplant but this kid had no personality but the women on the front was a kick to talk to. Customer service seems gone nowadays. Family of 4. Rented 4 bikes for the day. Toured Savannah. One of the bikes had gears which the sprockets broke on. Left stranded almost a mile away. Walked bike back to shop. Didn't expect to be charged for the broken bike, but instead of that, the owners wife immediately started aggressively saying we had broken their bike and would be charged. The husband intervened finally and said bike broke not because of anything we had done but he would not refund our fee for the broken bike. His wife, remaining very irate, kept saying that we had broken the bike and should be charged. I finally gave them our card and said "charge me if you can sleep ok with that". I hope someone dodges this place because of this review. One lost rental would pay for the $15 they stiffed us for. They are crooks and do not care about integrity. On the other hand The wife is a beast lol. Might be worth the trip though just to see her go off. read more

Do not buy bikes here. I bought a "new" mountain bike from them and within 3 months the rear tube popped twice and the front one popped once. When I bought the bike I was told I had full warranty for 6 months but they claimed the tubes were not covered by that warranty. I also had to leave my bike overnight each time just for the inner tubes to be replaced. Again I was told that it was a new bike but when I looked closely after buying it there were chips and dings everywhere and general wear and tear of a used bike. The owners do not care if you have warranty or not they are just out for your money and do not care about what they do. Friends of mine who bought bikes there have had even worse problems like the bikes frame cracking and the owners refused to repair it. Save yourselves a headache and go to one of the many other bike shops in savannah. read more

Everything is the cheap chinese shit that breaks all the time. They also do not follow their warrantees at all. I have also broken two of their frames, and I did nothing to do it. I'm very careful with my bikes and if they are made right they shouldn't do that. Plus, the Asian lady at the desk and her husband can be very disrespectful, and will rip you off if you try to sell anything to them. Their rental service is fine though. read more

RIPOFF!!! When I needed a bike after my first was stolen, I though these peope would be legit. I was wrong. I bought a bike for going to class for about $80. Not bad, but about 2 weeks after I bought it, the gears wouldn't work, and one of them FELL OFF in my daily commute. When I tried to return the bike, they refused to take it. If you don't know, the owners of Sekka also run Sakura. If you've eaten at Sakura, then you've probably remember vomiting it up later. They run this store about as well as their "Japanese" restaurant. Rented bikes from an employee who basically wouldn't talk to us at all... So bizarre, bc usually bike guys love to give advice and routes. It smells in there and the only option for bike rentals are crappy beach cruisers. We wanted hybrids to take out to the cemetery. It is cheap, but you get what you pay for. read more

These people are the best. I have spent hundreds of dollars on my brakes at rubber perry. Last time I had brake trouble I went to Sekka, and I got part of the front brake replaced and a carry rack for the back of the bike for literally a fraction of the price of my break repairs at perry. read more

Do NOT shop here! I don't know how they are as far as bicycle repair goes, but I purchased a new bike from there. Within 2 weeks the pedal falls off leaving me in the street and was nearly ran over by oncoming traffic. I came to resolve this issue and could not get a word in. This is not the first occasion the staff has been rude. The problem could have been the manufacturer or the person that put it together but the whole mechanism was faulty. It was gross negligence and whoever put it together tried to rig the screw to make it stay. It almost cost me my life. I eventually left the shop with PART of the money that I paid for the bike (they would not fully reimburse me) and I took my business elsewhere. Buyers Beware-this was hell on earth. read more

My bike broke down while visiting Savannah and we took it into this little shop to have it repaired. Unfortunately as it was a cheap Walmart bike it was going to cost more to fix than it was worth. The shop owner was very kind and offered me a deal on a new bike saying he would recycle the tires from my original one. I told him I wanted purple and he told me to come back the next day. I got a fair price on a super cute bike and he even had a matching basket. Two years later and it is still going strong. I would highly recommend this place! read more
